General :: TV Tuner Software "no Signal" - Error: "MythTV Is Using All Inputs But There Are No Active Recordings"
Feb 6, 2010
I am using Ubuntu 9.10. I have downloaded MythTV frontend and attempted installing and using Hauppage USB WinTv -HVR 950Q tuner. On TVTime I get "no signal". I attempt configuring source but ge nowhere. I have used MythTv backend to set up tuner. It recognizes the tuner, but when I select "Watch TV" I get the message: "Error: MythTV is using all inputs but there are no active recordings?"
to set up my usb, digital TV Tuner, an AVerTV Hybrid Volar HD (H830) , to work with MythTV? I note that the 'MythTV backend set-up', only refers TV Tuner cards, not usb sticks. Nevertheless, the link above provides a 'Linux x86' driver for my computer a .tar.gz file. The link also provides an accompanying text file that asserts 'This package is tested with MythTV against Ubuntu 10.04'. I've recently installed Ubuntu 11.04.The accompanying text gives its pre-requisites as a. support linux kernel 2.6.29 or later. b. make sure /lib/modules/`uname -r`/build exists c. make sure "dvb_frontend.h" exist in your Ubuntu. d. kernel modules dependency: videodev, video buf-core, v4l2-common.
For (b), my computer shows the following path /lib/modules/2.6.38-10-generic/build$ I'm note sure what (c) means with 'in your Ubuntu' Needless to say, its later instruction doesn't work Install driver to system sudo ./xxx_LinuxDrv_x86_vxxx-beta_Install.sh I'm told that this 'command not found'

I have created one short cut link for this folder with below command :
ln -s monitorDONE recordings lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 11 Mar 13 14:30 recordings -> monitorDONE This link is under /var/www/html Now, when I do IP/recordings It show me an Error as Forbidden You don't have permission to access /recordings on this server.
I have a written a test script which retrieves the status of active and inactive sessions from oracle DB, but i am receiving error while executing. My script is
I am literally bashing (pun intended) my head against the keyboard at this minute! I am trying to automate a script via cron for my centos server. The script requires two user inputs (e.g. read VAR). However, I do not want to edit the original file, as I would like to be able to run it normally as well. It is also made by someone else, and so if an update becomes available, it will be easier to install. My idea is that i create a cron script, to run this second script from, and the only way i could find was with expect. However I am having troubles, In order to test out expect, I have created the following: test.sh
[Code]...
It looks as if the second input is completely ignored ?! what i am doing wrong? or if there is a more elegant solution to running a script from a script with user inputs?
First post from a very new Linux user....I am trying to create a BASH script that will allow user to provide multiple directory names, Checks if the directory exists and if not create the directory.
I am using the following code:
Which works fine as long as the user enters a single directory name. How can I modify this so it will process all directory names user enters on the read response?
I have a BASH script which at one point asks the user a yes/no question. I want to make it so that if the user types in an invalid input 3 times consecutively then the BASH script will echo an error and terminate with exit status 1.
Yesterday I decided to install Fedora 13, having heard good reports about it. I started with linux back in the RH 5.2 days on which I cut my teeth. Since then I've used many distros and versions, openSUSE, RedHat, Ubuntu, Gentoo, Slack ... After the installation completed (without error), I rebooted at which time I got the following message at the grub screen: Quote: Error No Active Partition
when restarting suse 10 , i get an error displaying as Input signal out of reach..even its not going through any of the consoles....but ..when i shutdown the suse system and start suse its going inside without this error...how can i stop the error from occurring while restarting suse...this error occurs only when i restart suse.....when i freshly start suse after shutting down the system...its going well without errors.
I am not able to install OpenSuse 11.4. This is what happen 32bits: I get up to the login (shell); I type root ad later startx. After this, I get an error complain about fglrx and I get caught signal 11. I have already tried the F4 option during the boot but it did not work. I tried every combinations. 64bits: My computer get stuck as soon as I press enter. my laptop is an HP Pavillion HP dv6-3052nr. I do not have any problem with OpenSuse 11.3 and any other Linux distributions.
how to setup an Active/Active Load Balanced and High Available (If one of the nodes is down the system still runs) MySQL cluster. I have found quite a few howto's but I have some things unclear in my mind. I found a few solutions like this one: [URL] or this: [URK] Those are using two or four MySQL nodes, two Load Balancers to avoid a single point of failure but only one MySQL cluster management server. What happens if the MySQL cluster management fails?
I have also found a "MySQL Master-Master Circular Replication" technique but from what I read, with this option there is a chance that conflicts will arise if node A and node B both insert an auto-incrementing key on the same table.
I have over 500 hours of audio recordings of my server room. There's a lot of background noise from the fans, but mostly it's constant. Is there a way to automate an analysis of these audio files (mp3 each 30 min) and display changes? Like frequency or decibel changes?
I need to know how to play audio recordings, through a modem. For example, I have the computer dial my friends cell phone, and it plays a prerecorded message when he answers. And I can then record that call, and listen to it later.
Has anyone had success in getting likewise open or another tool to allow domain users to log in with wireless networking? I have an issue where GDM comes up, users attempts to log in and gets authentication error. After a few minutes it works. Centrify has the same issue.
I've tried removing network-manager and using /etc/network/interfaces to set up networking, which helps, but there's a 1-3 minute delay before a user may log in for the first time after a reboot. My theory is gdm gets loaded before networking is up. There's got to be a work around for this. Even having gdm just hanging for a minute while it waits for networking would be acceptable.
Running 11.3 and sound works ok in desktop, mplayer, firefox (flash) etc. System is using Pulse audio. I think that this worked before but I'm not sure. I don't really use this system. I do boot it every couple of days and update it. Backend is on desktop, and live TV and recordings show fine but without sound. What do I need to check?
I have a few posts open regarding the problems I have discovered after installing Ubuntu 10.04 dual boot on my iMac. I am sure I have all the necessary drivers restricted extras etc... installed and still three problems continue. These are problems that I would have assumed would work properly.
1. Unable to record Line In Recordings
2. Unable to use the built in web cam. Doesn't work at all
3. Unable to play any videos at all be they avi, mov files as an example. VLC won't even open them, Movie Player crashes when viewing full screen.
I have a feeling that getting Ubuntu to work on a Mac is way more difficult than getting it to work on a PC and I think it may be because of Apple's proprietary software.
I am a Mac user who has been using Audio Hijack Pro for years to do my scheduled radio recordings. I have a radio hooked up to my Mac that I record shows from. I am looking for a similar GUI solution in Linux and so far have come up empty. I would think that there would be something out there that I can use and hopefully someone on this forum can shed some light on this for me. I am seriously thinking of switching over to Ubuntu full time and this is the only thing that is preventing me to do so. Too bad because I hear so many good things about Linux, and so far I really like it.
Is there a way to schedule recordings of Internet Radio streams? I found this thread using cron and Streamripper, but I'd like to find a package that has all the support in one wrapper.
I wanted to get back into a radio show I used to listen to but can't too much anymore because it runs late at night. Is there a app to record live radio to schedule recordings? The program is Coast to Coast AM.
Can't seem to figure out how to make usable recordings with my webcam in cheese. when making very short video's like a few seconds...the longest so far was 11 seconds, it will behave just fine and it outputs a playable file with thumbnail and all. But when I try anything longer something seems to go wrong. I can tell first because cheese refuses to display a thumbnail for the resulting video. But also I cannot play it n any player I have (Yes I have pretty much all the codecs) Also when saved as a seperate file Gnome will choke when I try to get it to display properties for it.
I haven't found any errors like this when googling for cheese. Oh my OS is 10.04 and I have the 2.30-something Cheese that's packed for this version (can't get any of the newer cheeses to compile on it so far)
I have a TV Tuner Card (AverTV Super 009 from AverMedia). I am not able to work with it. My dmesg output is here. [URL]
It says my card number is 180 and tuner 1-42. I have tried all the 42 numbers in the tuner option in the modprobe command (modprobe saa7134 card=180 tuner=1 to modprobe saa7134 card=180 tuner=42). But result is not good. The file CARDLIST.saa7134 in kernel.org displays my device [URL]?
I created a customized Lucid image and installed on my computer which has 1 hard drive (/dev/sda)When I booted up .. it gave me an error indicating "Multiple active partitions" ... and did not boot up ...
I used my live CD and run as live session to check on the hard drive, When I issued the command fdisk -l on an terminal , the out put indicated that only /dev/sda1 is bootable, and other /dev/sda* were not bootable ...
I am not sure why I got the "Multiple active partitions" message at boot up time ..
