Ubuntu :: Configure USB Modem - Carrier ?
Feb 11, 2010I 've tried many ways to configure my Reliance NetConnect with Ubuntu. I 've tried with wvdial, sudo pon, tried through Network Manager, and using wine I installed the .exe driver.
I liked Ubuntu, but I need to configure usb modem..
I 'm using Huawei EC325, Reliance NetConnect USB modem..
When I try using wvdial, I can see some operations performing, its dialing #777, but some prob with the carrier..

Nov 23, 2010I am trying to use a ZTE AC2726 USB EVDO Modem on openSuSE Linux 11.3 to connect to the internet.
I have edited the /etc/wvdial.conf file as follows

Debian Hardware :: Wvdial Cannot Connect To Internet With Error - No Carrier
Dec 17, 2010I installed the intel soft modem in the debian lenny, and system can detect the modem, wvdial can dial the phone number but cannot connect to the internet with this error:
No Carrier
The phone number, user and password all are correct and I can connect to the internet in the windows as I post this post in the windows.

Jun 23, 2011I 've problem with this usb stick to connect to Internet. I desperately tried for 6 long hours but could not resolve it! I almost tried every possible / meaningful solution but none worked! My system detects the modem but it says NO CARRIER !

Mar 14, 2011I am using a Fling KVM switch (by Belkin), to connect 2 computers to my monitor One computer is running XP and the other is running Linux. My wireless switching mechanism has just gone the way of the saints but Belkin has supplied a software solution for this occurrence. There is a small app called Fling (surprising) that allows me to switch from the XP machine to the Linux machine but nothing to switch back to the XP. What I need to know is there a similar app for the Linux computer. (NB I have tried Synergy but have no idea how to set it up - I've been told that synergy might work).

Few of them are like usrid's/guid's of users are below 100 so I am planning to change it above 100. For eg. I have ops id for an operations team.If I change uid and group id of this particular user/group, do I have to just find files of that particular users/groups ownership and change it accordingly.Or else something elese I have to do. Will it affect any running applications owned by user/group whose ID I am going to change. Also there are few ids owned by applications whose secondary gid is 0, how do I proceed with those, as its very risky to change in prod environment.

I use Mac OS X, and I wonder it's common in UNIX. In this case, is there any way to keep B as a (soft link) to A? Or, make B as the hard link would be the only way to solve this issue? What are the main caveats one should expect? Can all hardware be used natively after booting, say Linux or FreebSD?

My use case is mostly Mail, instant messaging, web browsing and network simulation (hence this machine) and I value interactivity under full system load the most. How is interactivity under full load in Linux? My experiences with Debian "lenny" showed delays when task switching of up to 1.5 seconds. May I should look at FreeBSD?
