Debian :: PhpMyAdmin Installation - Cannot Get To Show Up In Web Browser

Aug 2, 2011

I have apache2, sql, php all installed fine on my debian installation. Initially, I installed phpmyadmin via apt-get install phpmyadmin. However, I wanted to upgrade my version of phpMyAdmin to the latest, so uninstalled and deleted it and used subversion to get a later version of phpMyAdmin. I decompressed the file in etc/ and renamed it to phpmyadmin. So now my working copy is located in /etc/phpmyadmin.

The issue: I cannot get phpmyadmin to show up in my web browser in http://MYIP/phpmyadmin. I used echo Include /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf to get the line in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf, issue is, there IS no apache.conf in the phpmyadmin directory. If I recall correctly, installing phpmyadmin from the debian package has you choose a server before finishing the installation. I obviously did NOT get this prompt as I am installing from source.

Questions: How do I set the server? Is this why /etc/phpmyadmin/apache.conf is missing? Additionally: I have searched for hours for a solution and found nothing. I tried the phpmyadmin manual installation where you create a conf folder and set the permissions but in the end I could NOT access /phpmyadmin/scripts/setup.php

General :: MySQL / PhpMyAdmin Upgrade To A Later 4.0 Or 4.1 Version?

Feb 1, 2010

I'm totally new to MySQL / PHPAdmin and have been dropped in at the deep end regarding getting MySQL and phpMyAdmin upgraded... When I look at the RPM's I see:

php-mysql-4.2.2-17.2
php-4.2.2-17.2
php-imap-4.2.2-17.2
php-ldap-4.2.2-17.2

But when I go to the GUI I see: Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.5.7-pl1 MySQL 4.0.16-standard-log running on localhost as root@localhost So to start with I'm not totally sure what version I'm running! I need to get these upgrades done due to PCI requirements so they are saying to upgrade to at least 4.0.25 I'm currently running RedHat9 so ideally need to know the easiest way to upgrade to a later 4.0 or 4.1 version.

Ubuntu Servers :: PhpMyAdmin Installation - Don't Use "sudo" Because Logged In As Root

Nov 25, 2010

I'm trying to install phpMyAdmin on my Ubuntu 10.10 server. I type the following command (I don't use "sudo" because I'm logged in as root, I know its not safe):

Quote: apt-get install phpmyadmin and go through the installation. I allow the installation to configure the database, and I chose the correct server (Apache2), when it asks for passwords, I use the same password that I use for the rest of the server (i.e. it is the account password for root, sudo, and my account). Once the installation is complete, I try and access it from a computer on the same network. I type "http://***.***.*.*/phpmyadmin" and I get the message saying the directory isn't there. I go into Webmin to confirm that the directory isn't there, and it isn't.

My questions are (1) Why isn't the phpmyadmin directory in my Apache Server root? (2) Is it installed with apt-get, if so, where? (3) How do I know what server I selected for it to install to? (4) What do I need to do to get it to install correctly?

Fedora :: Can't Log Periodically Into PhpMyAdmin

Jul 1, 2010

I have Apache, MySql server, and phpMyAdmin installed on my desktop. With the default installation of phpMyAdmin, I should be able to log in as root without a password. (Or at least every other time I have installed it, I could.) However, that isn't the case. I can't log in to phpMyAdmin period. I have tried setting the password for root with MySql through the terminal. Still no results. No matter what I do, when I try to log in to phpMyAdmin, I am denied access.

this is a fairly common issue (though I have never encountered it before) as I found similar posts in numerous forums, etc. I finally found a solution and now have it working. In case others have a similar problem, I am posting the solution that I used here. First open a terminal. Then use the following command

Code:
mysqladmin -u root password NEWPASSWORD
Substitute NEWPASSWORD with the password that you want to use and then you should be able to log in to phpMyAdmin as root with the new password.

Server :: MySQL - PhpMyAdmin ?

Aug 22, 2010

I have 2 Servers
Server A running apache, php, phpmyadmin
Sever B running MySQL

Server A has IP of 192.168.1.110
Server B has IP of 192.168.1.120

I edited /etc/phpmyadmin/config.inc.php

To have these:

(This par was confusing to I just re-added the line above instead of searching for it all).

Then I set the MySQL vi /etc/mysql/my.cnf to comment out #bind-address = 127.0.0.1

There is another line that most of the guides asked me to comment out but I cannot find that like: # skip-networking

The Next closest match to that is: skip-external-locking

I will assume that is not it and leave it alone....

I keep getting errors for example: "Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly"

Another error was it canno connect because it is not accepting connections from the IP Address of my webserver...
