General :: No Cursor Seen In VNC Viewers When Connecting To TigerVNC Server?
Jun 9, 2011
I start x0vncserver like that:
Code:
x0vncserver --PasswordFile=~/.vnc/passwd
But clients that are connected to me cannot see the cursor on my desktop. I have tried to play with options in clients (Vinagre and TigerVNC viewer) and server with no luck.
P.S. I cannot use standart Vino server because of its poor performance with Gnome3. P.P.S. My system is Fedora 15

I was able to sort out configuring TigerVNC in my Scientific Linux 6 and was able to make me see my own dekstop in VNC.
I installed TigerVNC in another machine running Windows 7 (starter).
how can I be able to connect these two machines in VNC. We are networked by a router at home.
I want to make SL6 as server and Windows 7 as client.

My new PC fails boot when having my IDE DVD drive connected. If the drive is removed the OS boots up without any issue. Once the PC is powered ON, the grub menu shows up, but when Ubuntu 10.10 is selected I get a blank screen with a blinking cursor on the top left corner and I have only option to force shutdown the CPU.ON selecting windows 7 i'm able to boot successfully and use the DVD drive without any problems.

I have TigerVNC installed on Fedora 14 and when I boot up I get the following message in the log file in the ~/.vnc directory :
Quote:
Tue Nov 30 21:29:00 2010
vncext: VNC extension running!
vncext: Listening for VNC connections on all interface(s), port 5901
vncext: Listening for HTTP connections on all interface(s), port 5801
vncext: created VNC server for screen 0
[Code].....
The interesting thing is that if I run TigerVNC Viewer I actually get accesses to the TigerVNC server.

I've set up an FTP server with vsFTPd, and I can connect when on the same machine that the server is running. However, when attempting to connect from another machine on the internet, or even on the same LAN, the connection always fails. Port forwarding on the router is enabled.
When attempting to connect over the internet via FileZilla, this is displayed:

I like ordering my images my date modified, but Eye of GNOME only lets you view them by alphabetical order.
Important features for me are: Going through items with the arrow keys. Zooming in and out with the mouse wheel. Being able to sort by modification date, type, or name. Being able to right click and open with either another window of the same viewer, or with another viewer. Having a simple interface
So far, I've tried:
Eye of GNOME - I love how simple it is, and if it wasn't for this sorting problem I'd keep using it. Well, that and the fact that you can't right click and open an image in a separate Eye of GNOME window while continuing to scroll images in the current window.
gThumb - Damn. So close to being a winner. Can't pass images with the arrow keys or zoom in and out with the mouse wheel, but I can sort by modification date, it's simple, and can open another window of the same viewer. But those first two points are also important for me.
Fspot - A little too cluttered when opening a single image. I don't really need to see a top panel with the other images, even if it's nice. I can go through images with the arrow keys, and zoom in and out, but no sorting by modification date.
Shotwell - Shotwell's viewer is pretty fast and simple, however it has lots of flaws for me: can't sort by modification date, can't zoom in and out with mouse wheel, can't open an image in another window while viewing it. At least it's simple and I can navigate with the arrow keys.

I've tried installing the BBC iplayer desktop, and am currently working my way through the maze of adobe air installer etc.
I wondered if it is possible to view the downloaded programs in a different viewer. I've got both Movie Player and VLC media player installed, but they will both only play for 1/2 second, then the program closes.
Is it possible, or must I persevere with BBC desktop iplayer ?

I began by first installing Unbuntu Server (this was yesterday evening). After configuring and reconfiguring and reinstallation, I finally got it installed the way I wanted, so I thought! Today, I decided to give Debian a try. Read many posts concerning its stability, etc. D/L and installed. No problem, First I was met with permission denied error when trying to perform a simple 'cp' command. Jumped back to the forum and searched found a solution type 'su and enter password that worked perfectly I type some things in the smb.conf file (according to other instructions) then return to my XP machine to try connecting again. I know this isn't exactly 'rocket scientist' stuff, but WTH is going on? When the login screen appears in XP, I provide the proper credentials and still can't connect!! Also, how can I grant myself permissions other than using 'su -'?
Trying to build a simple file server for home use. Nothing fancy, but honestly, I've installed Novell servers much simpler than this.

I have a client.conf in /etc/cups that points to a CUPS server. I don't have u/p access to this server. I also want to print to a local printer (USB), but I can't set it up - ALL attempts bring me back to the CUPS server password prompt. Is there some line I can add to the client.conf to allow me to use a local printer?

How do you configure FC11 to grant full control to the tigerVNC session. I cannot do any software updates, update vsftp through the GUI and add different software.
There are probably more things.
I can do this from the local console but I want to run two systems headless and use my three monitors on a single system that I manage them from.

Im running netbook remix on a eeepc 1005ha. It is my only OS and Im loving it except for one obnoxious quirk. It randomly cuts text and randomly pastes it. If there is something in the clipboard, it will usually paste that, but just as often it will cut random text and paste that. The pastes occur when the cursor focus jumps back to the location of the cursor on the screen. I dont know a better way to phrase that, but thats what it is doing. Say... I put the cursor over the word "pastes" in the paragraph above... even though Im typing in this paragraph, the focus will "jump" to the cursors physical locale (the word "pastes") and then paste whatever is in the clipboard. If the cursor is outside of the textbox, the page will jump to the bottom.
This behavior occurs across programs and in any place text can be entered. I can find no rhyme or reason for it... it just... happens. Sometimes even when Im away from my computer, so its not like Im hitting some key on accident. I have loved everything about this ubuntu distro, but this issue is just toany obnoxious. Writing psych papers on this thing is going to be near impossible if I dont get this fixed before I go back to school.

Am running Ubuntu NBR as the sole OS on my Dell Mini 9. Switched over in March to 9.10 NBR. Everything worked fine.Upgraded to 10.04 when it was released. It's awesome EXCEPT for this busy cursor thing. As soon as I log in, all the time my cursor is the spinning wheel of busyness.... It works just as a normal cursor would - my computer also does not seem to be slower due to any operations. If I open an application, the cursor will behave as usual within the window but if I more my cursor to the title bar or switch out of the application, the "busy cursor" resumes.

I'm using Postgresql 8.4.2-2. I'm trying to remote into my server securely. I figure I could do so with ssh. Apparently I figured correctly, as per, [URL] and [URL] I setup the ssh tunnel. ssh -L 5432:serverip:5432 Then I setup pgadmin3 to connect as follows:
host: localhost
port: 5432
user: postgres
maintenance db: postgres
And I receive the following error:
An error has occurred: Quote: An error has occurred: Error connecting to the server: server closed the connection unexpectedly This probably means the server terminated abnormally before or while processing the request.
I'm not sure what the problem is. I can connect with Code: psql from the cli after connecting to the terminal via ssh. So I know that I'm using the correct password.

After a ssh remote login and trying to start my vncserver, I cant login any more on my ubuntu 10.04. During this session I have executed some command with "xterm" and "display:0" and I suspect that is causing my problem now: At startup I have an error message in a window, with following message "running in low-graphics mode" and other phrase with something about my keyboard. Then I have some choises, like Start in low graphics or normal mode, and some more, but nothing seems to works and all I get is a 100% black screen with cursor, no ubuntu, and I must reboot PC in XP to come here...

I have an Ubuntu server virtual machine running in vmware server on a Win2003 server host. A locked up machine forced a hard reset a couple of days ago and my VM seems to be damaged. At first VMware wouldn't start the VM, complaining of a locked file. I deleted 3 .lckdirectories and was able to start up the VM. I then get a GRUB menu with 6 options - booting any of them other than memtest results in a lone underscore cursor at the upper left corner.me in the right direction as far as the next thing I should try at this point? Unfortunately I had not yet set up a rigorous backup scheme, other than internal daily db/web backups that are stored inside the VM. I have a snapshot from 3 weeks ago but upon loading the snapshot I get the same cursor.

Ubuntu 10.04 - Gnome Termainal - BASH pressing cursor keys in certain users produces garbage. For example:
pressing up arrow produces: ^[[A
pressing down arrow produces: ^[[B
pressing right arrow produces: ^[[C
pressing left arrow produces: ^[[D
Naturally, I'd like my bash history instead of this. For root and my main user I have no problems. I have a few system users (who don't have a standard home directory) and this seems to occur with those users. For example, my amandabackups user has a home directory of /var/lib/amanda.
