I have gateway m305crv that I recently installed ubuntu remix 9.04 on. After installation, no internet wired or wireless. I have tried to troubleshoot however I feel that I need to get my wired connection.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing eeePC1000 with Xandros installed and investigating installation of Ubuntu, especially seeing that there was a netbook version. Have had some problems creating a bootable USB, but followed a thread on the netbook forum that I think will be useful. Before going ahead I wanted some advice on a few things:
- does the Ubuntu OS install over Xandros or is there work to be done post install to clear Xandros out?
- if i want to keep using Thunderbird, StarOffice etc. as supplied with Xandros can I install these to Ubuntu?
Sorry if above all seems obvious: sites I've been to, or books are great at telling you about how good the OS is and how to install but nothing on what happens to the old OS.
I just installed UNR 10.10 on my Acer AspireOne D255 netbook.
I've installed the broadcom driver it wanted me to, so it enabled wireless networks, HOWEVER, none show up.
I used to have the Acer AspireOne 531h with UNR 10.04, and the wireless worked out of the box.
What can I do to get it to recognize wireless networks?
I tested it with a wired connection and it worked.
I am trying to install Ubuntu Netbook on an iiView A2. I realize this is not necessarily supported according to the Ubuntu documentation, however, one of my friends who has the same netbook was able to accomplish this with no issues. The computer boots up from the USB just fine, I get to the menu and choose install Ubuntu. I see a cursor flash on the screen for a second and then the Ubuntu logo. Immediately after seeing the Ubuntu logo the screen goes black (or blank) and I get no HDD activity (or any other activity). I have let it set for quite some time but it does not appear to be doing anything. This same kind of thing happens when I choose Try Ubuntu without installing from the initial menu after boot.how to install from the command line and edit xorg.conf later?

Only thing i might be doing wrong is using an external 320gb hdd that i had previously formated to fat32 instead of a usb pendrive. Is this the problem, note i dont have a pendrive large enough.

Can I install the netbook remix without windows? All the instructions talk about putting it onto a flash drive and using Windows. Can I just use an external CD drive and install onto a new partition? If so, will it handle all the GRUB dual-boot stuff on installation or will I have to do something special for that?

I can arrow up and down, but when I press enter on any entry nothing happens. The CD will spin momentarily but then stop. Been trying to make this work for two weeks.

I have an Acer netbook that I installed Remix on. Now I can't get the thing to boot from the CD drive which is connected via the USB port. Any suggestions? I set the boot order with the CD drive first and the HD last.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried using UNetbootin to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Lucid) on my Toshiba NB205 and am having no luck. Both it and Kubuntu NR will boot from live USB and seemingly install successfully, but when I select the Ubuntu option, it hangs and drops me down to BusyBox with initramfs.
When UNR was distributed as a .img file, I could use Canonical's USB image .exe to prepare the USB drive and it always worked like a charm, but now UNetbootin fails me all too often. I don't really have access to another Ubuntu box to run usb-creator with, so has anyone had any success with any other install method? I am dual booting with Windows 7.

i tried to install ubuntu netbook remix edition 10.04 on my laptop HP Compaq 550 through a usb flash stick ... with the usb creator which included into the iso image i got this msg (( attached screen-shot )) .i tried another application which makes a usb bootable disk called "UNetbootin" it boots successfully but after booting every thing got FREEZED ... i tried the same thing with ubuntu 9.10 it's succeed .. but i neeed to install 10.04 .
