General :: List Files In Specific Directories Older Than 1 Day Or 24 Hours
Apr 7, 2011I am trying to write a simple back up script in python where I try to list the files that are 24 hours old in specific directories that I would choose.I read the manual of find and used
find . -mtime 1 > log.dat
to get the list of files in the log.dat however I also get the path information in that list as such
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel/vfluidIrca10.dat
./hpc06MatlabCodes/2011/Apr/3dBoxModel/vLRecoveredSystem.mat
is there a way to exclude the directories and only get the files list.

following are log files which are existing, I have to delete one day older files from this location but when use above mentioned command it won't print one day older files, as i understand "-mtime" modified time, "+1" means one day older. am i correct?

General :: Rsync Deleting Files From Destination Directory?
Jul 14, 2011We have an rsync cron job set up to mirror all the files in a "..dashtdocsdocs" folder to the same folder on another server. It copies all the files over correctly and deletes any files in the "docs" directory that aren't in the sending directory, but it also deletes any files we put in the target directory's parent folder (..dashtdocs or other subfolders like ..dashtdocsimages) even though they've been excluded in the .rsync-filter file.
Here's our current rsync .sh:
/usr/local/bin/rsync --stats -qPzrtpl --delete --password-file=/var/run/.appprodrsync --log-file=/export/home
/webuser/logs/rsync-extranet-log -FF /export/home/ appprodrsync@appprod::dprweb_extranet/ > /export/home/webuser/logs/rsync-extranet-output 2>&1

So for example server A has ..dashtdocsdocs and ..dashtdocsimages. Server B has ..dashtdocsdocs but if I manually copy the images folder over to ..dashtdocsimages, the images folder gets deleted from the target directory every time rsync runs.
A: ..dashtdocsdocs
..dashtdocsimages
B: ..dashtdocsdocs
..dashtdocsimages (<-- gets deleted everytime rsync runs)
I'd like to keep just the docs directory synched and update other folders manually, but they keep getting deleted. It looks to me like it's running a delete-excluded option, but that option wasn't used.

Dec 22, 2009After running photorec I went from having ~30 gb of free space to having 0 bytes of free space. I have deleted all the results of photorec and various other large files and removed them from trash but it still has not freed up any space. Also, my firefox no longer has back/forward functionality which I'm sure would be fixed by a reinstall but seeing as I have 0 space, I can't really do that. Any thoughts?

Sep 14, 2010I have a new PC with 9.10 desktop . It's running Zoneminder. For some reason it will not run more than 24 hours with out locking up . It's set up stand alone with no screen or keyboard. I hacked the vga port with 3 resistors so remote desktop works. I did this on 2 other systems and it always works fine. I want to ask where can I look in the logs to try and find out why this beast dies after just before 24 hours of run time.

Mar 26, 2010I have a large collection of CDs that I ripped to mp3 a few years back. I would like to go sell them to a store and get some money for them (I haven't used the physical CDs in years). The deal is that when I started ripping the CDs, the program I was using would insert a 2 second delay between songs. I would like to know if there is a program/command that I can use to remove this delay between songs. Some of them have 0 delay, so songs that fade into each other sound correct. Other albums have songs that are supposed to seamlessly fade into each other, but they don't because of this delay. Is there any way to remove that delay between songs or do I have to re-rip the CD? Figuring out which albums have that problem and re-ripping the CD is going to take a very, very long time.

Sometimes things don't work for a variety of reasons and the log files sit and sit and are never dealt with. What I need is a small script that can give me the files older than X days and a count of those files.
What I have so far helps me take care of things manually but I need a little automation in my life Here is what I have: I can count all the files in the necessary directories recursively with this: ls -laR | wc -l And I can find all the files that are older than 10 days that haven't been deleted yet by doing this: find /home/mike/logs -type f -mtime +10 But how do I put both of them into a script that will just give me the end number of both?
