General :: Convert Wma With A Script

I have some wma file which I would like to convert to mp3. My situation is that the wma files are in different sub directories. I already have a good script which I found online but its problem is that you only can convert wma in current directory. I would like to edit this script, so I can be able to convert my wma files in sub directories too.

I'm trying to use convert, I have installed the imagemagick. I use this line:convert *.jpg test.pdf but I'm only able to convert to pdf 1 single jpg file, not multiple files at once. When there's more than one file, I get the following error: Segmentation fault

I am trying to use 'convert' in command prompt to convert image file format.I get the following error.

I have Ubuntu 9.04 and just installed Sound Converter. I am trying to convert a bunch of .ogg files to mp3 to play on my iPod and it's not working so well. In the Sound Converter options I have is set to convert to high quality mp3. I choose the folder that the files are in and after a moment (slow laptop) Sound Converter populates, I hit 'convert' and it shows that the conversion completes in two seconds. All that it did was create the new folder structure of artist/album but there is nothing in there. Not sure what I am missing. I used Sound Converter before and it worked fine.

An easy way to convert wav files into mp3 (or ogg).
$ sudo-apt-get install nautilus-script-audio-convert mpg321 vorbis-tools lame nautilus-script-manager.
after that run
$ nautilus-script-manager enable ConvertAudioFile
Now, when you right click on audio file, under 'scripts', you will see ConvertAudioFile option.

I have a lot of .flac files downloaded from several sites. Most of them come with a .cue file, and the .jpg with the cover, etc. It seems it is the intention of the uploader that one rebuilds the original CDDA. However, if I had a stand-alone CD/DVD player with flac I would hardly see the point of converting the flac to cdda. Furthermore, I could even play the flacs with a software player although, in this case, the audio quality would not be so good due to the noise picked up by the signal from the PC digital circuits.

Using dspspy, I've recorded a number of audio files ending in .rec. Only problem is, it seems the only possible way to play them is through `cat file.rec >> /dev/dsp`. Neither sox, lame or audacity can convert them to another format.Any command-line tools that can? A .wav or .raw would be best. I just can't seem to find any conversion tools.

I have a unique issue. Unique in the sense that I have only found the opposite of what I'm after so far. Here goes:
I have a special bootable "Linux" USB. Tested the USB and it boots up and builds any old PC - with an appropriate BIOS. I would like to convert this USB - better still its contents - to an ISO.
Reason? VMWare server doesn't support USB bootable BIOS at present. Not sure it ever will.

I could stream the following file at my darwin server it means i am able to stream .mov files with 8KHz sampling rate and 20kb/s bite rate.

i downloaded the centos 5.5 cds in cd version. it has 7 cds. Now i feel, its better if its a single dvd, to install , to update the packages n all.so is it possible to convert the seven cds to one single dvd. i tried unraring the seven cds , combined them and burnt as a DVD, but in vain.so is it possible to do ? any other ways ?? help plz!

I have a file (.tgz) which is meant to be simply copied to a floppy disc. I don't have a floppy disc, so I would like to convert the file to a .img file, so that it looks like a floppy disc but is on my hard drive. How do I do this? I have looked quite a lot. Surely there is some application that does it easily. This is for installation of Basic Linux, which comes on two floppy discs with ms-dos file systems.

I am looking for an option to convert .vob file to mp4 format. Command "ffmpeg -i S.vob x.mp4" is giving error message "[libfaac @ 01cac110] Unable to load libfaac.dll". I tried to convert in other formats like .avi with the same command and got success. Conversion is decreasing the quality like hell. Though size of the file after conversion is as big as original then why this bad quality. Some where I have read if I will not specify any argument it will keep the quality same but here it is not happening. Not sure why....

I basically just surf the net, email, chat etc. I have an older 1.6 Ghz P4 - 60 Gig Hd - 128Mb Nvidea GForce T1400 (i like the dual display, is that supported),I have had enuff of bill gates buy it again and again b*llsh*t, and have been curious about linux and am ready now to remove winbloze from my hard drive for good and was wondering where to start. Which version of linux,what preparations do I need to make in advance etc.so as to reduce my down time. I am a total newbie and know virtually nothing about Linux except that it is supposed to be a better OS than windows in many ways, but lacking in support from the big company's.

I scanned a document in color to PDF, and I don't want to re-scan it.
How can I convert this PDF document to grayscale (preferably without loss of other information)?
My usual toolset of doPDF, pdfsam and the Neevia online converter don't work here. I was thinking I could simply print to PDF and select the Grayscale color option, but doPDF doesn't have that option.
I'm using Windows, but I can probably handle a solution for any OS.

I would like have a script that can monitor my flac folder and everytime I rip a new cd to flac I would like the script to make a new folder with mp3 files @320 bit and place the newly created folder with mp3's into a folder named mp3. This is my very first script but after reading up on linuxcommand.org I discovered the power of scripts. Maybe there already exsist such a script for all I know?
Where would be a good place to search/look for templates that I can tailor to meet my needs? Also I would like to hear good suggestions for other repetitive tasks people solve with the use of scripts, that way I can easier see what else I can dig into. Can scripts also be used to manipulate databases? For instance to every day search for top 50 of certain met criteria, or whatever else output one is looking for?

I've got a couple of boxes (one linux and one Win Vista) that I want to enable the hardware RAID 1 (mirrored drives). I've not worked with RAID before. I don't really know much about RAID, but from what I've gathered from google, it seems like I may have to enable the RAID first in the BIOS and then reinstall. Is that correct or is there a way to enable the onboard RAID without reinstalling? I was hoping to clone the drive with dd and then enable RAID 1 in the bios and viola! Since one of the machines is my parents' (the Vista box), I'd prefer to do something non-destructive. I may just setup a backup mechanism for them where at least they have the data files backed up to the other drive. If I have to reinstall mine (Debian Lenny), I may bite the bullet and do the reinstall.

I would like to convert my /tmp and /boot partitions from Ext3 to Ext2 on my Arch Linux setup. I don't see any use in having journaling for either partition. I want to make sure that I have the right steps lined up so could someone verify that this is correct (from a live cd):

#sudo e2fsck /dev/sda7
#sudo tune2fs -O ^has_journal /dev/sda5
#sudo e2fsck /dev/sda5
I then edit /etc/fstab to reflect these changes (ext3 to ext2 for both lines)
Does it matter what order I do it in (/dev/sda7 is /tmp and /dev/sda5 is /boot).

convert latin1 to utf8 I have a problem at convert latin1 to utf8. There are so many unreadable characters at latin1 db, and these characters could not convert into utf8 also. So I could not import to new utf8 db. Is it possible to convert these character to utf8 to import to utf8 db?
