Trying to install the LIRC-mouse on Fedora 12 KDE. Lirc works fine but I cannot get the mouse going.
The lircmd deamon is working, but when started this is the message:

I've bought this remote control that sais it works in Vista, XP etc. without any driver. Basically it has a bunch of buttons that replace the mouse and a bunch of others that replace basic keyboard functions (arrows, enter, escape). It has a USB IR receiver so I thought I could simply use it as a lirc remote in Ubuntu.
However, it sais absolutely nothing on it except for "PCremote" so during lirc installation I have no idea what to choose. And, interestingly, I accidentally discovered that it works in Ubuntu, too, out of the box. Controlling the mouse and acting like a keyboard. Is there a way I can forfeit current functionality and just get it to work as a customizable lirc remote? Or even better, keep current functionality but change it only for certain apps (xbmc, vlc etc)?
I am trying to install LIRC version 0.9.0 on Debian Squeeze When I execute
# ./configure --with-driver=mceusb
The configuration starts, but it stuck on the follow message:

I ran yum install lircand no lirc support files are installed in /etc/lircd/what is the proper method of installing and getting lirc setup and running?

- In mplayer I have audio but not video appears.
- In Movie Player I have video but not audio
- In VLC I have not video and the audio is wrong (a lot of noise).

When configuring a custom kernel using fedoraproject.org instructions, the make menuconfig options for LIRC are not in the .config file anywhere. I checked the kernel tree and all the files are there in the .../drivers/input/lirc subdirectory (I need the lirc_dev and lirc_i2c drivers). I reset the .config to its original settings to make sure I didn't mess up. I also grep'ed the .config file for any LIRC related settings, none found. Also I'm not getting any sound from the radio-aztech driver.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running FC12 and GNOME.If I move the physical mouse about one inch, the mouse pointer moves across the entire screen.That's way too fast and way to sensitive.I prefer the mouse pointer to move far less distance on the screen when the physical mouse is moved.
From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. I'm having trouble installing F11 x86_64, and I'm sure it is something to do with the video card.X will not even start if I have both nvidia quadro FX1700's installed. If I take one out, I can install F11, but it always 'hangs' when it starts X (which is to say, both the keyboard and mouse are locked - until I press the power button, but then it shuts down anyway).I've fiddled inittab so it starts in runlevel 3 so I can at least get in and tinker. There is no xorg.conf in /etc/X11, so I assume the system is building it's own and not quite getting it right (guess work based on other threads with similar symptoms).
I can connect to the system from another Linux machine via ssh, and I can ftp to it. I tried copying the xorg.conf from the other machine, but while it changed the screen resolution (ergo, it had some effect), it still went nuts. Starting X remotely via ssh allowed me to trap the messages, which indicate the lack of HAL has something to do with the problem.service --status-all reports hald stopped; I'm assuming this should not be the case. I've used yum to reinstall hal, but that made no difference. Nor did an update - it was already at the most recent level.F11 was installed from a DVD downloaded vai a bittorrent; the disk checked out ok.
My knowledge is limited, and I don't know what should be in xorg.conf for my machine, although I could type it in from scratch or ftp it across from here. It was 'okay' under F10, happily tolerating both video cards. But it seems to be sulking under F11. In case it matters, I'm doing everything as root; since firstboot starts X, I can't use that to create another userid.
- nomodeset, xdriver=vesa, selinux=0, remove rhgb as boot parameters - all to no avail (although these changes seem to be ignored for the most part anyway);
- start the HAL daemon manually (mine failed to start, as others have reported). It didn't like that! (the output is available, but is enormous)
- startx -configure - simply failed;
- dirconf didn't work;
- I've tried swearing at it during start-up, which turned out to be no more or less successful than anything else, but it was fun.
Intel Q6600 64 bit. Twin nvidia Quadro FX1700 cards (one removed for the time being) driving two 1920x1200 monitors each. Please let me know if there is any other relevant information I can supply.
I home-made the exact configuration detailed on the lirc.org webpage for making your own IR receiver. It's all wired correctly, I'm just not sure that the serial port is working like it should. I've used a voltmeter to determine that the voltage regulator is working and all.....
I've got LIRC configured with the home-brew IR receiver, and a Haupauge remote. I run irw and NOTHING happens no matter what remote I point at it. I've used test leads to see the effect using a remote on the unit has, and it seems to be working correctly, so either a driver or config file isn't working correctly. I've read a BUNCH of pages but simply don't know enough to troubleshoot any further on my own.
Has anyone got LIRC up and running on 11.4? There are some basic built-in remote functions from imbedded IR drivers in kernel but no specific LIRC functionality. Will 11.4 need lirc-kmp-desktop etc?

Is there a way to setup LIRC to flip through the icons on the desktop (similar to using the up/down arrow keys on the keyboard), and initiate a program with the remote? Would prevent the option of using remote desktop to open up or close a program

I tried everything here; [URL].. When I try to use the Nuvoton IR Receiver it completely locks up the system and I need to chroot into the file system and disable lirc just to get booted again. Does anyone have LIRC and the IR receiver working on this box? I also went through the list and tried all the cir receivers in the lirc list. Here is the hardware info;

Lircd - Configured and work correctly (mplayer and VLC)
I am running Ubuntu 10.10 and am trying to get lirc to recognize my pcusa mce remote control. I have been working on this for a week and have not had any success. Please note that I am very new to Linux. I am comfortable moving around in the terminal but most of anything else that I do in the terminal is just following instructions.
This is the remote that I am using:

When I run
cat /proc/bus/input/devices
I do not see anything that could be the remote. I have tried plugging the USB receiver into my Ubuntu 10.10 net book but it doesn't see the receiver either. I do not have a windows machine that I can test the remote on but I plugged the receiver into my iMac and I did get a red LED lit that I haven't seen on the Ubuntu machines.
When I run irw and press buttons on the remote I see nothing on the terminal.
When I run:
sudo mode2
I get:
mode2: could not get file information for /dev/lirc
mode2: default_init(): No such file or directory
I have tried mode2 both with lirc running and stopped and I get the same response either way.
I have confirmed that there is no /dev/lirc but there is a lircd in /dev (it's not a directory). Also I had read somewhere that lirc doesn't work under Ubuntu 10.10. Is that the case?
I have recently built a new Ubuntu 10.10 (64bit) and installed MythTV and LIRC.I have correctly (?) configured LIRC for my specific IR Blaster on the serial port. Using the test send (see below), nothing happens - ie none of the pins on the serial port change state, and hence my IR Blaster hardware does nothing.

I'm using Debian Squeeze and my 0-9 remote control buttons and power off button work even if I've didn't installed lirc. In a Gnome desktop I could set up the volume too, but now as I'm using Fluxbox I can't start the volume control applet anymore (by the way does somebody knows any handy volume applet for Fluxbox ?)So my question is that if some button of my remote control already work without lirc, then there must by some drivers installed, when I've upgraded to a newer kernel, but I can't figure out what makes my remote control to work. Does anybody knows something about this and if there's something already installed for IR devices in newer kernels how can it be further configured ?
If i type the command "cat /dev/input/event6" in my terminal I can see that all my remote control buttons give a signal, but still I can't figure it out how can I set up all of them.
I`m new to openSUSE.Before openSUSE I used Ubuntu for almost a year but I decide to switch to openSUSE 11.2 KDE. Everything works great, but I cant get lirc to work or to recognize nu remote:Logitech ultraX. I don`t understand how to configure lirc in openSUSE or what packages is required for lirc to work, I know that I must manualz add file in lirc for my remote but I don`t know where to find them or how to use them. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a gui-less music server so there's no login, and I've tried using mplayer's lirc interface as well as irexec (sending mplayer slave commands to a fifo). But I can't get mplayer to work unless I start either irexec or mplayer from a logged in session. So my S99test is something like:

If I use the "mplayer" line, I do hear music at startup, but no lirc control. Yet if I log in and kill the mplayer and rerun S99test as root, all works fine.
The only thing I have found so far which does not work for me after upgrading to 10.04 is the ability to change the master volume via LIRC and the pulseaudio lirc plugin.LIRC itself is working, I can verify it recognizes my remote control input by using irw, and all other portions of my lircrc file are executed correctly, such as my On Screen Display. However, no changes are made to the system volume.
I have already reinstalled the lirc pulseaudio plugin to no avail.Can anyone else confirm if this does/doesn't work on their own system?
I use Mythbuntu 9.10 with an IMON PAD IR/VFD. Everything is fine except that two buttons (MyDVD and menu) fire their event twice. In that case, I'm not talking about a normal repetition in case of a long button press but they fire their initial events twice.

I pressed the buttons only once each - and not long enough for a repetition. For all other buttons it's fine. As far as I understand, using the .lirrc file to cope with repetitions is no valid approach (at least it didn't work for me) because the events are all numbered with "00", and not with "00", "01",... - so .lircrc is out of this, right?
I have a bare Ubuntu install that I use to run Xbmc. It has been working perfect for a month. I reboot it every few days. This morning I decided to reboot when it came back up my remote stopped working. I hadn't done any updates since I build the box. Unless Ubuntu does them without asking. Here is the dmesg log

I had a working lirc using my hauppage card. After upgrade to Lucid, it no longer works. I don't see errors, but it appears to me is is not detecting the Hauppage card:
