Does anyone know how to increase the mousewheel scroll length? Take for example, Google Chrome, in a Windows operating system one tick in the mouse scroll wheel moves the page 10 lines, while in Linux one tick only moves the page 4-5 lines which can be quite annoying when scrolling through large webpages, does anyone know how to change the scroll length? I'm using Fedora 14 x86_64
View 1 RepliesIs there anyway to increase the speed of scrolling within the unity launcher? Like when you have more icons than that fit inside of your screen. I know you can just go to the scrunched up icon and hover it and it will appear, but is there a way to increase the scrolling speed when using a mouse wheel? It seems a little slow for my taste.
I think I seen a "bug report", for this, which really isn't a bug, but more a desired option to customize the unity launcher. Just wondering if this has been figured out, or even possible.

I really enjoyed using Apple's wireless Mighty Mouse and Magic mouse because of their ability to easily touch scroll 360 degrees. Unfortunately, Linux drivers are not provided for these mice.Is there an equivalent wireless mouse that works well in Linux? Ideally with native support or community provided drivers, etc.

The scrolling arrows are gone.Well this scrolling tab often vanishes before I can click on it to scroll down. Is there a way to revert to the old style, like the scrolling mechanism on these forums? View 6 Replies View RelatedUsually but not always, when I try to scroll down by clicking in the vertical scroll bar - instead of going down approx 1 screen firefox slowly and jerkily and out of control goes all the way to the bottom of the page. If it is a long page I wait a long time.
The wheel on the mouse works fine, moving the vertical scroll handle with the mouse works fine, pushing the down arrow also works fine.
Alternatively - sometimes the vertical scroll works as I expect it to.
Alterntively - when I use Opera it scrolls as I would expect.

The scroll lock key is the key that turns the back light on/off. Num light works/caps light works, but the scroll lock light does not on F12 or Ubuntu Thinking it may be a soft ware problem after trying different usb slots, I dug out an old XP machine and it works.

MP3 support now works (i.e.: mp3 files are being played) but audacious does not show me the scroll bar/widget with which I can move within a track. The horizontal line of said widget is being displayed but it's not showing the button which marks the offset within a track and clicking on the horizontal line has no effect.

When I switch between virtual terminals (CTRL-f1 Ctrl-f2) I can no longer scroll back in the VT I left and came back to. Any new data created will be scrollable, but i can never get back to before the switch. I'm sure this used to work (several years ago). Was this introduced as a security feature to prevent left over data on VTs from being seen by the wrong eyes? If so, is there a way to get the old functionality back?
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I "middle click" the scroll wheel to enable smooth scrolling in Firefox, the entire machine basically locks up until it scrolls to the bottom of the page. On a long web page, this can take almost a full minute as it scrolls very slowly.
Also, just using the scroll wheel to scroll normally. If I scroll up then back down quickly, it takes quite some time, and the CPU usage spikes under those conditions too.
As a test, I went ahead and loaded Top in a terminal window, set side-by-side with my browser. Once I start the smooth scrolling, I can't stop it. It has to get to the bottom of the web page to quit. Xorg's CPU usage spikes during that time and I can hear the fans starting to speed up.
I just quickly made a long text document in Gedit and tried scrolling through it. Same thing. So it's not limited to any one application.
Anyone experiencing anything like this? It started happening after my last major update.

I Have Fedora 12 and use the Logitech Marble mouse.
This mouse has no scroll wheel, instead it has two buttons one to scroll up and another to scroll down.
Instead of the usual scrolling, the buttons are acting as if I had clicked the back or forward buttons on the browser.
How can I map the buttons to function as intended?
How may I slow down the mouse scroll speed in F10? When I use the scroll wheel, a mere fraction of a turn and I am zooming through a page. I already tried changing some settings in Firefox, per another posting on scroll speed. It did not seem to work.

I don't miss the rubber or the extra keys on the tablet. But I'm having quite some trouble, using the pen as a mouse replacement in all day use. The following is with respect to usage outside GIMP and Inkscape (i.e. Firefox, Nautilus etc). What I would really like to have, is:
+ scrolling by pressing the "first button" and simply _moving_ the pen. Just like with my Thinkpad-Trackpoint: Here I press the middle key and can then scroll just by controlling the Trackpoint. Would already be cool, if I could scroll by pressing the "first button" and touching the tablet. A short tap while pressing the "first button" should still be a "middle click"!

I'm running FC 14 and the /dev/shm is no longer as big as it used to be (under an older FC). How can I increase the size of the /dev/shm? I tried the following

Which seemed to work, but then the system hung when I tried to use the extra space and I had to reboot. What's the correct way to increase the size of the /dev/shm partition?

This free space is physically before the LVM partition.Can I increase the size of the physical partition using pvresize?
