I've tried to install Wine but I get this error: [Errno 14] HTTP Error 400 :http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/linux...ata/repomd.xml Trying other mirror.Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: adobe-linux-i386. Please verify its path and try again Not sure what is happening here. Can anyone give me some idea and maybe a way to overcome it?
I have been using wine to run a mapping application called Tracklogs. It provides Ordnance Survey 1:25000 mapping that can be printed as well as upload routes to my GPS.
It has worked perfectly since Fedora 8, I last updated wine appDb in January 2010 reporting that it was working with Fedora 12 and wine version 1.1.32.
Since wine has been updated, I now get an error dialog "Microsoft Visual C++, This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications's support team for more information".
As far as I am aware tracklogs does not use Visual C++ Runtime, so I am not sure why it is even installed. It is a clean install of wine and this is the only application I have.
It has worked consistently for over 2 years and 4 versions of Fedora and no doubt multiple updates of wine, but at some point recently something has changed with wine that causes this error. Have they included Visual C++ Runtime by default? Is there anyway to get rid of it?
When trying to get wine I do got this error. Missing Dependency: kernel >= 2.6.29.1-52.fc11 is needed by package libdrm-2.4.11-2.fc11.i586 (updates) As I understand I must update my kernel before I can move on. How do I do that? I would want a RPM package if that's available.
I'm trying to install Wine on Fedora 13, I tried installing it from the "Add/Remove Software Repository" but the installation fails, I tried installing it from the Terminal using the following command as root: "yum install wine"
I am new to fedora and installed wine to see if I could get the sony reader software working (required to access sony bookstore from my sony ereader). Well the program did not work though it did create icons on my desktop. wine kept crashing and I said lets just get rid of it. I uninstalled wine via yum remove and nothing appeared to happen so I did rpm -qa |grep wine and saw lots of stuff. So I simply did yum remove wine* and then a rpm -qa |grep wine was empty. however wine is still under applications on my desktop and still has a category for programs--reader. I should also mention that while wine was installed I attempted to remove the reader via the wine uninstalller but a) wine gave a message of a core crash and b) all the uninstaller did was give me the option to reinstall the reader program. so now when I attempt to open an epub it tries with the sony reader software. I know I can just right click to use another program but for now I want wine gone completely from my pc and the sony program gone.
I can get sound in wine but when I'm trying to run spotify via wine I get "There is a problem with your sound card" error, anyone know how to fix this? I'm running fedora 10 64bit

I upgraded to fedora 12 today from fedora 11. I had oracle-xe 10g running on my system perfectly fine when I was running fedora 11. now , after the upgrade, i cannot login to sql.it gives the following error
Code: SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Wed Dec 16 12:45:25 2009 Copyright (c) 1982, 2005, Oracle. All rights reserved. ERROR: ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor I have checked listener.ora and tnsnames.ora. they both are unchanged.
I have a problem with my system. Fedora 12 64bit I was tinkering with enabling rawhide and upgrade firefox(3.6 / namoroka) and pidgin. Then I disabled repo. downgrade pidgin again with its dependencies (glib2 or was it glibc2). Long story short, the next time i boot up, there are a lot of error / FAILED. Boot into run level 3 is fine. But i cannot use yum and it give error regarding libglib.so or something and phython need it. Locate found those item, so it might be because the version is wrong because of those upgrade / downgrade process. Sorry if the problem isn't clear, but can anyone give direction what should i provide.
Error msg: YaST got signal 11 at YCP file PackagesUI.ycp:273./sbin/yast2: line 399: 30258 Segmentation fault $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS
Got this most recently while trying to upgrade WINE from YaST Software Manager. Got a similar message for a different package that I recently installed, and just used zypper to do the install. I also used zypper to reinstall Yast2, but still got this error message. Running openSUSE 11.3, kernel 2.6.34.7, GNOME 2.30.
I keep getting the following msg as I try to upgrade from 10.04 -> 10.10 ... "Could not calculate the upgrade An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages. This can be caused by:

If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bug report." I don't think any of the issues above apply - can anyone offer advice on how to get around or "force " the upgrade
Fatal error (6)Aborted (core dumped) This only happen when i'm logged in as root, on the Terminal session. As a regular user, or launching emacs from task bar icon don't happen.
I'm encountering a python error in the beginning of the upgrade. See screenshot. How can this be solved or should I indeed file a bug report? Problem is that except for taking the picture, I've been unable to save the info.
two days ago I updated my Fedora 11 to Fedora 12 which seemed to run fine at first ... until it rebooted after the update process. I was presented with the following error:
Approximately 5 seconds afterwards it tells me, that the root device was not found. My root volume is a LVM inside a LUKS container, so I guess the keyboard error from above implies that it can't query me for my passwort and therefore open the volume.
I have a problem with LVM. My installation of Fedora 13 is on 2 SATA hard disks, which are set as /dev/sda and /dev/sdb. On sda there are two partitions (boot and a physical part of the volume group) and on sdb is only one partition (other physical part of the volume group). Both physical parts of the volume group are used for one volume group and the VG is splittet into multiple logical groups. The system works and all seems to be ok. But I saw a strange thing on last reboot:
The device /dev/sda was not recognized during the boot sequence, instead the system has build a device /dev/md126p1 with the same geometry and partitions and it has the same disk id as sda.
The volume group is also ok, the system boots into the desktop environment, but the system-config-lvm says that /dev/sda is not initialized and the volume group consists of sdb and md126p1. fdisk -l knows three devices (sda, sdb and md126p1). I think, that is the reason for my problems with preupgrade, which stops after the reboot with a LVM problem (root not found). Can I correct that without data loss?
when I tried to install wine I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"so I looked for wine-gecko and download it but also when I tried to install it I got "Missing Dependency: wine-gecko is needed by package wine"it seems that I am in loop each package need the other what to do please?
Rsnapshot also cannot see my external hard drive. But I can see/edit all the files in the windows partition and the external drive. The output of mount for those two entries is:
Since ugprading today to a fresh install of Xubuntu 11.04 I am unable to open .exe's through Thunar my file manager with 'WINE Program Loader'
Wine 1.2.2.
When I try to i receive the error:
Quote:
The file '/media/DUMP/Downloads/anything.exe' is not marked as executable. If this was downloaded or copied from an untrusted source, it may be dangerous to run. For more details, read about the executable bit.
When I check the permissions tab of properties there is no option to make it executable as per screenshot.
Also using chmod +x doesn't change anything but I am able to open .exe using WINE in the terminal but I would rather I did not have to do this every time I use WINE.
I have no intention of using mIRC, it was just a small windows installer I downloaded for testing.
I'm trying to upgrade, but have this issue: usually I download the DVD iso, run checksum, burn it, test the disk, and when found ok, I run the upgrade. Now, however, I keep getting "disk not ok" at 95% of the disk test. I have downloaded and verified the iso twice, used 2 DVD's, 2 different DVD-drives, 2 different computers and keep getting this error at 95%.
I am trying to run ucertify under wine, but when I try to run I receive the error: unable to create copy of userdatatemplate.ucp to userdata.ucp. make sure you have enough permission to create file in C:program filesucertifyprepengine to create a new file.
I believe I have provided full access to the ".wine>dosdevices>c" so I don't know if I'm missing something obvious?
doing an upgrade from 10.4 to 10.4 LTS and got this error:

I recently got a new netbook and the first thing I did was install ubuntu along side the XP install. The problem I'm running into right now is when I try to install a statistics program that I need for class I get an error. There is a popup labeled RegUtil with the error "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument" and in the terminal window there is the message "wine: cannot find L"C:\windows\system32\netsh.exe."
