Fedora :: Download From The Internet Or Synaptic - Get The Message 'Not Authorized'
Mar 20, 2011
I have just completed install of Fedora 14 off the live CD and although I can download alright via Yumex if I download from the internet or Synaptic I get the message 'Not authorized' . I am at a loss because I have never had this message before, I am particularly trying to get the drivers for my Brother DCP385C printer but they will not install because of this message .
have an installation froblem from .deb file. When i download any .deb file. run it and authorized it.then an error come like this.Screenshot.pngBut the no program run at the time.i try it after restarting computer but still this result come.
I have ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso loaded in Transmission, which starts every time I boot up. Today, I booted up and got these weird error messages from Transmission with the ubuntu-10.04-desktop-amd64.iso file. The message is: Tracker gave an error "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker." - Idle.
I thought that maybe something was wrong with Transmission, so I paused the torrent and then removed it. I then reloaded it and pointed Transmission at the download directory. Transmission verified the downloaded data and then spat out the same error message at me - "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker."
I then removed the torrent from Transmission, exited from Transmission cleanly, restarted Transmission, reloaded the torrent file, pointed it at the current download location, it verified the file was completely downloaded, and then got the same error message. I have a firewall running, and it has ports 51413 and ports 6881-6999 open for both TCP and UDP connections. These are the same settings that I had yesterday, and there was no error message spat out by Transmission yesterday.
I downloaded ubuntu 10.10 recently from ubuntu.com, I used the bittorrent files. Now I am trying to upload a torrent of each version to thepiratebay.org to help sharing this great software. First, I am allowed to do this right? The problem is that I am trying to use ubuntus trackers, but I am getting the message: "Requested download is not authorized for use with this tracker" in utorrent when I am trying to seed. Maybe I am doing this wrong?
Any time i try to install anything from terminal or synaptic i get this error message saying:
Or if i try to upgrade:
If i try to open the software-center the cursor changes but it does not open. This all started when it upgraded to Karmic Koala. There might be two seperate issues but i cannot install or uninstall at all.
Whenever I try to install any new software using package manager, software center or apt-get, it gets stuck at Downloading for almost a minute and then the download starts. No problems with the net connections-a high speed connection to backbone through a firewall. It occurs even while updating the package repos.
I installed Netbeans using the Synaptic GUI and it worked ok. Netbeans is now corrupted. I used the Synaptic GUI to completely remove it. That worked. I used the Synaptic GUI to download it again. It claimed to do it in 2 seconds and it is back to my corrupted Netbeans and practice projects. Obviously an efficiency move to reduce downloads because it was already archived somewhere by Synaptic.
How can I make the Synaptic GUI really download all of Netbeans again? I am not going to attempt to solve Netbeans mysteries. If there is no easy way to make the Synaptic GUI download, I will reinstall Wndows XP and my software for it, bring them up to date and reinstall Ubuntu 10.10 on another partition, bring it up to date and reinstall Netbeans. The only advantage of that method is that it works.
I have been using Fedora for a while now. When I try to watch movies or videos on the internet or offline a error message like the following: What should I do?
I have downloaded and installed programs and cannot find them. today it was k3b and k9copy. i even reinstalled them just in case. synaptic completes the process, but i can't find the programs on any menu. my command-line skills (though improving) are lacking. i've used ubuntu numerous times before and the programs of that type would always show on the 'sound & video' menu automatically. i'm considering the possibility that my installation is faulty.
I've used UNIX a bit but i've always hugged windows a lot. I wanted to explore a bit before I started my MSc next term so I thought I'd try it out. A friend recommended fedora, so here I am! The main problem is, my USB wireless doesnt work at all and my router is in the kitchen so I cant really stretch an ethernet cord. I'm posting this via my laptop, so I cant really copy and paste a lot of logs. My device is a Belkin USB F6D4050 v2, comes up in lsusb as 050d:935b! Now I spent all day yesterday trying to get this work, i've read so many tutorials and threads about getting it fixed in the end I had altered so much I got a bit fed up and reinstalled to try again. I am using the drivers off the belkin cd (XP2K/rt2870.inf) so that should be fine.
First of all, I run ndiswrapper -i ../rt2870.inf which works fine, I check with ndiswrapper -l and it says 050d:935b is installed fine. I then do ndiswrapper -m, which adds the alias and makes a conf file. I then do -ma and -mi for the heck of it! Now I tried to do modprobe ndiswrapper, and i got an error that the module is not installed. A few searches later I found out that doing depmod -a, fixes this. So modprobe works fine and modinfo ndiswrapper comes up with the info......
Alternative to Internet Download Manager (IDM) to download movies from any website.Ok, so one of the cool things about IDM was that i was able to download movies from ..... and other sites that have video clips on their site, but now that i have switch all my computers over to ubuntu linux, i now need an alternative to this problem because IDM will not work with the firefox on ubuntu linux. So my question is, do you guys know of an alternative software for downloading movies from any site such as ..... and other sites?
I isntalled Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in a dual boot configuration with Windows 7 (new i5 desktop, 8 GB DDR3) , and after a few gliches solved, Ubuntu runs. The problem I have is when I try to install software with the Synaptic Package Manager, no packages can be downloaded. Also, after I attempt this, no other software can connect to the Internet (even if that software was able to connect before). Rebooting restores connectivity.
Moved to linux as I was assured it was "uncrashable" but I seem to have managed it after only 2 days. Running ubuntu 9.10 and trying to download adobe flash player. I get an error message :- E: The package adobe-flashplugin needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it. E:Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.
Every time I close this window synaptic package manager also closes. When I try to download flash player directly from the adobe web page, synaptic refuses to cooperate. I am now stuck as I can't delete this or download anything else.Computer janitor won,t delete it either. Also when I go applications>ubuntu software centre, everything I try to download comes up with Not available in this critical data.I can see this is going to be a very steep learning curve.
my hardware configure is 1gb ram, partition of hdd is c:25gb,d:80gb,e:80gb,windows xp 32 bit ,p4 2.70ghz processorI have download fedora 13 two times from the Internet. First ----Fedora-13-i686-live in winrar (675mb) when I extract winrar Fedora-13-i686-liveAfter Then in the new folder of Fedora-13-i686-live (675mb) some new file & folder are display. This file and folder are- (EFI , isolinux , liveos) Folder & files are GPL.Second --- using the bit torrent--- I have download Fedora-13-i386-DVD winrar (3.05GB) & a file Fedora-13-i386-DVD-CHECKSUM In the winrar to be extract there is a new Fedora-13-i386-DVD(3.07GB) folder is display. In this folder some file & folder are display.
the folder are (EFI,IMAGES,ISOLINUX,PACKAGES,REPODATA) & files are(.discinfo 1kb,.treeinfo 2kb,gpl 18kb,media.repo 1kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora 0kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-13-primary 2kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-13-SPARC 4kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-i386 0kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-sparc 0kb,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-sparc64 0kb ,RPM-GPG-KEY-fedora-x86_64 0kb,TRANS.TBL 4kb)So my simple question is to you that where is the .exe of the fedora-13 or the fedora-i386-dvd.ISO image file in both the Internet download files
I have a problem with internet speed, when I download a file in "windows" the transfer rate is 250K/s but when I want to download in fedora I can't get more than 50K/s and this makes me sad.
New install of Fedora 14, all updates applied. If a USB flash drive is plugged in, get a Not Authorized message when Nautilus tries to mount the drive. The drive does show up in Places in Nautilus. From a terminal window, if you 'su' to 'root', then:
mkdir /mnt/usb fdisk -lu mount -t vfat /dev/sdb1 /mnt/usb
WILL mount the device, can 'cd' into directories, 'ls' to list files, 'cat' the files -- all OK -- so the device itself is fine. But from a regular user account, it will not mount the drive. Did 'chown' on /mnt/usb and /dev/sdb1 so that the user owns everything. The same 'mount' command as above gives the message "mount: only root can do that". Disabled SELinux as a test -- same result. Searched around but only similar problem was in this thread (buried in the middle): [URL] That's where the sequence above was suggested, which does work as 'root'. Where else would permissions need to be set? And what changed? This worked automatically in previous versions of Fedora
I recently decided that I want to install mplayer on fedora 13. Problem is, everytime I try, a new problem arises. I've tried add/remove software, and it said "package download failed, check internet connection" which doesn't make sense because I'm connected to the internet and my connection is fine. So, then I tried yum install mplayer, that gave me an error.
I have grown to like SeaMonkey on another distro. But did not see it in Debian synaptic. However searching the net I noticed Debian has Iceape, internet suite in synapticwhich as far as I can tell is a twin of SeaMonkey. So if you are looking for a complete package email etc. this is a good one. Opera is as good or better but I like to run two browsers some times when playing music or a game.
I noticed today my dropbox wouldn't connect, so I reinstalled, still nothing. Tried to reinstall from the repo, nothing. While doing this I noticed that apt cannot check repos, or synaptic. Browsers have no issue but it looks like the system itself does. Same goes for Ubuntu update manager and software center.
I keep getting this message when i try to download E: The package dcp1000lpr needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.E: Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.
When I try to download the recent adobe flash 10.1 for my linux drive, I get the following error dialog box:
cannot get lock cannot get the exclusive lock on the packaging backend. Please close any other legacy packaging tools that my be open.
Yum is locked by another application. The other process has the command line '/usr/bin/python /usr/share/yumex/yum_childtask.pyc 2 True False' (PID 2053)
I'm at a lost right now, I tried researching to find a possible reason, but I'm coming up short. I have a dual boot laptop with both fedora core 12 and windows7. Could there be a conflict between the two drives? I have the YUM extender on my linux drive performing the updates for me. I tried doing a YUM update via the terminal viewer, but I still get the same message.Any ideas as to why I'm getting this message, or how to fix this problem?
1- The vfstpd is running on the Centos server. The server is in the same home network. The SeLinux and firewall are disabled. I can use Filzilla from a Windows PC from another computer and connect and see directory listing. There is a user names adminftp and he is a memeber of root group. When I try to upload or download I get an ftp critical error message.
2- How can I install Adobe Acrobat Reader, Flash Player and Adobe Shockwave on this Linux box?
Finally I got success in setting up of CDMA USB modem but I could not access the internet or browse the internet. I can only download message and send messages using through evolution. But can browse internet.
I try to use kmail with my Gmail IMAP. The "IMAP" account type in Kmail work fine, but having to download an email each time I want to read it is annoying.
So I switch to disconnect IMAP. But the first time I open a folder in disconnected IMAP, I have to wait for it to download ALL email in that folder. This would take forever since I have more than 3GB of mails.
So is there a way to config Kmail imap to do one of the following:
1 - Download and cache only the message I've chosen to read.
2 - Only download and cache message newer than a point of time of my choosing (eg: Cache mail from two months ago only)
3 - Only download and cache newest message up to a fix size (eg: Keep a cache of 50MB of newest mail)
