Fedora :: Add The GPG Key To The RPM Database?

Aug 25, 2010

I am installing R (a statistical computing software) on Fedora11.

I noticed the ReadMe file said "They may be signed by Martyn Plummer <plummer@iarc.fr> instead of the Fedora project. To allow for this, you must add the GPG key (ID 97D3544E)to the RPM database."

When I installed the R software, it really warned about the GPG key.

I am a beginner, and I don't know how to add the GPG key. Can anyone tell me which command I should input in the terminal?

Server :: Database Stopped Showing Up - Files Still There - Restore The Database From The Files?

Jul 8, 2011

I recently moved into a new place and when I hooked up my webserver, I wasn't able to bring up my page, even from localhost. With some digging, it seems that I can't access the database that housed my posts (wordpress installation). I looked for the datadir in MySQL and that directory shows the wordpress directory that should be holding the database and all the files are still there. 1) why the database no longer shows up 2) how to restore the database from the files?

Fedora :: RPM Command Wrong With The Database

Oct 5, 2010

I am having a few issues related to the RPM command. I think something is wrong with the database. Here is what has happen. I had open office installed, I heard about the fork and decided I would install LibreOffice . I uninstalled open office but left the shared libs. I downloaded the new beta release that is out and used the rpm files to install. In the process of installing the menu links I ran into a few conflicts related to dependencies. So I removed the rest of the open office libraries. Now if I try to launch LibreOffice I get a message saying that it can't find it. If I try and do a reinstall with the RPM files I get a message saying that it is already installed. example below:

Red Hat / Fedora :: MYSQL Database On External USB Drive - Dumped/res?

Apr 25, 2011

I have a hard drive from a server that had a severe hardware failure. I have it attached via usb to the new server. I need to dump the database from the hard drive to a .sql file and then import the dump into the new server.

/mnt/external_drive/var/lib/mysql/ mysqldump -u root -p database name > backupdatabase.sql

My problem is, I enter in the root password, and it gives me an access denied error. I know this is the root password because that is how I am logged into the server. How can I test the credentials of the database that is located on the external hard drive? And, I've used all the credentials that could open this database (database user and root user) and still no go. If I can never get the password for the database on the external hard drive, what are my options?

Fedora :: Yum Search / Info - Database Disk Image Malformed

Aug 25, 2010

Any time I've tried to run 'yum search' or 'yum info' I end up getting a error "database disk image is malformed"

Code:
$ yum info postgresql
Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit
Error: database disk image is malformed
I am, however, able to update and install software without this error occuring.

I've tried the 'yum clean all", "yum clean metadata", "yum clean datacache", and rebuilding with "yum makecache", but still this problem crops up. As I understand it, the error message comes from something possibly not having been updated properly in one of the sqlite databases that yum stores information in. I probably could fix it if I knew which sqlite db that 'yum search' and 'yum info' hit.

Fedora :: "system" Command From Database /usr/bin

Jun 18, 2010

i am having some trouble running the "system" command from inside my database.

from the database i have put together a command:

cat /appl/fpmerge/q8.txt >/usr/bin/qmkfile

the command in q8.txt looks like this:

cp /appl/fpmerge/qname.txt /home/ann/qdir/8000123.txt

this allows me to use variable new file names as needed. the new file name is generated to reflect the account number / unique identifier for that record i.e. 8000123

then

from within the database program i run this command:

system "qmkfile"

when i run the commands from # they work fine but from within the database processing table they don' t run and the rest of my processing fails. the interesting part is that other /usr/bin custom commands work within the same processing. they all have the same settings i.e. chmod and chown (rwxr-xr-x root root etc. qmkfile) there are many steps to get to this processing which all work but do not involve "building a unique file name". i don't have any script experience so that is a very long learning curve for me.

i have tried all kinds of ways including:

# su & sudo commands etc.

again the original commands work fine from # but not inside my processing table.

it appears that the problem is with the database -- i think??
