It seems there is a problem with Chromium with not clearing out some cache such that if you go from one site with a css file to another site with a similar named css file, the old css file remains - go to options and clear out all browser stuff and everything is okay.is there a way to automatically clear out settings when the browser is closed like the Firefox option to do this ?

Unfortunately far for all unicode characters can be displayed in Fedora by default, (much less than in M$ Wnd). There is a tool that aim to find and install missing fonts when an non-displayable character appears, but it starts mainly when I accidentally open non-text file in terminal and never when a web-page I open in Mozilla Firefox (or Konqueror) contains such kind of characters. So, I see a rectangle with hexadecimal number of character in it (or simply empty rectangle in case of Konqueror) and don't know if there is a easy way to see it by installing missing font automatically (or manually at last) for range of this character or a way to install complete font collection to display all unicode characters from all ranges.

several programs , including cheese and multiget, get automatically closed a few moments after running. i replaced multiget with gwet- and gwet had no problem. with respect to cheese, i tried running it from terminal, and received error message.

I didn't have this problem with version 10.04 (also 64-bit) and I didn't change any settings after the upgrade.

I recently installed fedora and had to troubleshoot most problems with the drivers myself, before installing the system I searched for all the drivers in my computer so I could do it easily. After getting everything working in proper conditions, IE, wireless, and sound worked wonderfully, I was able to hear, and connect to aMSN and my wireless network. I didn't notice any problems until I actually started firefox to browse the web.
It couldn't connect to a host, or resolve it. It wouldn't work when it was wired, and wouldn't work wireless. I reinstalled it to see if it would work without me messing with anything and just connecting through ethernet, and still it didn't work, same problem. I wouldn't ask if I could find a site that had the same problem but I've been searching for about 2 hours. I'd like to use Fedora asap, and get rid of Ubuntu.
Browser can't find server at att.yahoo.com so no internet. My folding at home client with Stanford can't download {an upload went ok}. I have 2 other fedora boxes & 3 windows boxes thru the same router and they are all fine.
I can manually ping Stanford ok,
Add/remove software within fed. works ok.
I can type in 192.168.0.1 & get the page for my router
The only thing I did between working & not working was to install
Nvidia Cuda driver for my GTX275
My guess is something in the firewall got tweaked. but I've compared it to 2 working boxes & nothing jumps out at me.
I can't ear any sound in '.....' when i watch videos is there anyone. i have the adobe flashplayer installed and i'm using firefox 3.5.3
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been windows using for over years and now after seeing Linux in couple of colleagues desk, I liked and have installed Linux in my home desktop (Fedora 14). After installing Fedora 14, I tried upgrading my browser Firefox from 3.6.17 (which came by default) to Firefox 4.0. I googled and got the procedure for upgrading tirefox. from this link [URL]. I followed the exact steps and while I tried to install I get the following error. I tried enough to get rid of this problem but all attempts in vain.
The Error that I get is:

View 3 Replies View Relatedi just updated from karmic 9.10 to lucid 10.04 using the online upgrade option. so far everything is working great. the only issues i am having seem to involve firefox. when i visit videos i get the message "your browser is no longer supported. please upgrade to a modern browser." i am running 3.6 "canonical" so it is "modern". i am able to watch videos after i close the message. it's just an annoyance to get this message every time i view a video.
next, is on some websites (like this one) it will not supply my login info. but on a few sites (like ebay) it does supply my login info. not sure why some sites work while others don't. the info is there when i look under my saved passwords....

I set the system-wide proxy settings and they seem to work for most part except not on Google Chrome and Opera. Firefox works fine though flash is never detected. I get a 105 "NAME NOT RESOLVED" error on Chrome.
Also whenever I install something using apt-get, it tells me that the packages cannot be authenticated.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64 and have a problem that the file browser does not refresh automatically. This is what I notice. open a file browsercreate a folder or touch a new file from a terminal window.In the already opened file browser, I expect the new file or folder to show up on its own. For some reason the Adobe browser plugin isn't working in Firefox on my Ubuntu 10.10 desktop. The plugin doesn't show up in Tools Add-ons or Tools -> Manage Content Plug-ins. It works fine on my laptop with the same versions of Ubuntu, Adobe Reader (9.4.2-0maverick1), and firefox (3.6.17).
Starting firefox from a terminal yields messages that are probably illuminating to some:

I ran it in the local mode, and it created the directory ~/.mozilla/plugins and the file nppdf.so in it. Alas, it didn't work, complaining that,

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have triplebuffer set up in the xorg.conf, i am using the squeeze Nvidia drivers (the ancient one), installed debian way.
In nvidia-settings, i have enabled all the entries of sync to vblank, but after i log in, if i go a glxgears, i get 1000+fps, then i start nvidia-settings, the screen flickers when it starts for some reason, resolution is still at native (1366x768), after starting and quitting nvidia-settings, starting glxgears made it 60fps.
How to i make sure sync to vblank is forced? i prefer it this way.
I've looked at the Arch wiki entry for configuring NVIDIA cards/drivers, and I found that you can put the command nvidia-settings --load-config-only into your DE's session startup configs to make it launch automatically upon login. However, I can't seem to figure out how to do this under Xfce. I've already tried modifying /etc/xdg/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-session.xml with the following:

I want to forbid a user to make changes to preferences of iceweasel, specifically to modify proxy settings of the browser. Although user should still be able to use the browser.
I assume these settings are stored in some file on a harddrive? If so, what is this file and can i simply make it read-only for users? Or any other solution?
