Every time I attempted to run "yum update" dependencies failed to resolve citing kernel version problems. I cleaned out a bunch of old versions of kmod-wl that were still on my system (some dating back to my old f12 install) and still had no luck. Finally I removed kmod-wl altogether so that I could update the rest of my system and hoped I could just re-install it once the update was finished. No dice. "yum install kmod-wl" still produces this message (identical to what "yum update" gave when the old kmod-wl was installed):
I put kmod for nvidia driver on my Fedora 9 ! I update kernel and now when i try to start blender i have this errors :
Code:
blender Compiled with Python version 2.5.1. Checking for installed Python... got it! ERROR: Unable to open Blender window
[code]....
I download blender 2.48 and 2.49 Rc static version ! [URL] But is started old version 2.48a . If i try to start from gnome menu ( graphics ..) blender 2.48a but not working !
Yesterday I ran updates that moved me from kernel Fedora (2.6.34.7-61.fc13.i686.PAE) to Fedora (2.6.34.7-63.fc13.i686.PAE). After reboot my system hangs trying to start X. I can use altF2 and log in that way but when I try to start X it fails - no screen found. I backed off to my previous kernel and used the package manager to remove the updated kernel and noticed that when it uninstalled it did not take any kmod packages with it. I assume not having an associated kmod may have been the problem? If so, how do I find the correct one to install?

about 10 days ago i have update my f14 with the last kernel , but now i have some dependency problem and my wireless doesn't work with the new kernel ...
Code:
[root@atom ~]# uname -a Linux atom 2.6.35.9-64.fc14.i686 #1 SMP Fri Dec 3 12:35:42 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux [root@atom ~]# [root@atom ~]#
So I was messing around trying to uninstall Nibbles and reinstall since I have an issue starting that game and something happened and removed the submenu under Games called "Logic", which had another whole list of games.
Is it possible to reinstall the games package or reinstall the update?I'm thinking more of the lines of a system restore or something so back 2 days from today.
I have just reinstalled my fedora, because I messed up with the unsuccessful installation f the Beta Nvidia driver. The problem I am having is that when I try to update KDE to 4.3 (currently is 4.1) I get this
Code:
I understand I need KDE 4.2 at least, but can I exclude somehow this update, because I dont need marble anyway. Or at least how do I update first to 4,2 and then to 4.3.1.
Having downloaded the DVD iso which failed to burn correctly I decided to try a live X86_64 iso, and installed from that. This was fine and I had set everything up apart from the nvidia drivers( nouveau worked but with no 3d for desktop effects). The card is a 7300LE and was working fine with kmod-nvida in F12. Following the instructions that leigh provides a howto for as usual I thought I would finish off the install. However I had several errors show up, which unfortuantely I did not keep a note of concerning dracut. On the restart the install was trashed, just froze solid in plymouth. Having been here before I decided that I would just do a complete reinstall again and investigate further what is going wrong later.
Having now a really nice slick F13 with all my servers set up etc and now running under nouveau I have just decided to check out dracut dependencies with the following: rpm -qR dracut-005-3.fc13
This gives:
Checking through the list of installed software I am unable to locate the following:
Though rpmlib is installed which may well be for the various rpmlib()'s above, I cannot see any package for fileutils, mktemp or mount in the repo's.
I installed fedora on my laptop and everything went fine, i installed my bradcom drivers and rebooted. Next step was kmod for nvidia but when i rebooted i couldn't use fedora anymore cause loading freezes at some point. same thing happens to my desktop pc, where i solved the problem booting with an older kernel (this time i have an error saying "eth0 link not ready" or something like that). Everytime i try to boot with a more recent kernel loading freezes. The point is...i can go through with my desktop pc by choosing another kernel, but i can't even boot with my laptop.
I got my nvidia drivers for my Fedora 11 64 bit system from RPMFusion. But each time my kernel is upgraded, X stops working because I don't have the proper module installed. Previously I booted an earlier kernel and installed the proper nvidia kernel module, and all was well. But this time with kernel vmlinuz-2.6.30.9-96.fc11.i686.PAE, I don't yet have the corresponding kernel module. So I have to make do for the moment with an earlier kernel.
But in the process I discovered the metapackage kmod-nvidia-185-18.36-1.ff11.3.x86_64, and installed it.It has no files, and according to the information blurb, its sole purpose is to keep the installation of the kernel and the kernel module in sync.Does anyone know how this works? Is the kernel not installed until the corresponding kernel module is available? Also, it hasn't even been 24 hours, so I guess I should be patient, but how long is it likely to be before the kernel module for tthe new kernel is available?
I installed Kmod just earlier today. I also updated everything else today. After i rebooted, the text boot said "enabling nvidia driver [ok]", but it never leaves the text boot! It freezes after "Registering binary handler for Windows applications: [ok]".
just updated to new 2.6.33.124 kernel along with some other updates to python and boy what a mess! I can't run at all with the new kernel (the kernel appears to load but stops before the xserver loads, I think)I really don't think this is a generally problematic bug though, i'm afraid that this setup is just fusty since I have been having trouble with metacity (causes the cpu to spin up --metaphorically of course--to ridiculous amounts until I kill the process, which it happily does without actually killing it but it does spin down again to 2-3% from 60% or so) and the python update seems to have killed the nVidia setup and 3D as well. so.... anybody have any suggestions on how to straighten this mess out without setting up again? This is actually the second time I set this up since the metacity bug made me thing it was fusty the first time, but a second setup didn't solve it.
I did turn the metacity bug in as a kernel bug (because it was in some way related to massive kernel ticks which was keeping the cpu going, but have had no response to that, unless this latest update did that.
I've been scouring google, using all forms of guides to try and get these damn nvidida drivers installed so I can move my resolution from 800x600 to 1280x1024 (I have a small monitor) I'm running a NVidia GeForce 260 GTX. I've executed yum update I've run rpm - [URL] and everything installed. I've edited grub.conf to disable the default drivers.
getting KVM Kernel modules installed under Fedora 14? I'm trying to do a post-installation setup of KVM. I'm getting the "No package kmod-kvm available." error, when doing "yum install kmod-kvm".
I have not had this problem on this machine since the days of fedora 1. The problem is that there is not kmod-nvidia driver for the current kernel in the rpmfusion repo, nor akmod can build one at boot up. Looking at the log files, akmods spits this error message:

I have just upgraded the hard drive in my laptop with a new one that isn't about to crash (I dropped the laptop a few months back). After installing Fedora 12, the first thing I did was try to install kmod-nvidia and all its dependencies. Upon rebooting Fedora goes to the boot splash, and then when the login screen should display it instead shows a blank black terminal like screen. Do diagnose this I logged in under terminal (tty3) and proceeded to try to start X manually. It displayed an error to the effect of 'could not load Nvidia kernel module Nvidia_module.so3'. I figured it must have been a glitch so I reinstalled kmod and the same thing happened. Tried reinstalling Fedora all together and still the same result. I am getting kmod from the RPM Fusion repo
I am running a fresh installation of Fedora 13 on a 64 bit machine. I have an ATI Radeon HD5750 video card, and I want to install drivers for it. I have tried following Leigh's guide, but I have run into a problem. I cannot install kmod-catalyst because of the following error:
Code: [root@localhost ~]# yum install kmod-catalyst Loaded plugins: presto, refresh-packagekit Setting up Install Process Resolving Dependencies --> Running transaction check
how to install kmod-nvidia for fedora 13 beta.*I know there is an experimental mesa driver that works. However, it does not control fan speed, and the fan is always on full. It's driving me crazy.
I have Fedora 12 on a Dell Vostro laptop. It doesn't seem to recognize wireless devices (In the connections icon,no wireless option appears even when I am in a wi-fi environment. I tried to install kmod-wl through yum, but it says "No package kmod-wl available"
so, i have 2 23" 1920X1080p monitors they were working fine, but i just didn't have the 3d support i needed to play some games that i enjoy. So... i tried installing the kmod-nvidia and the xorg x11 libraries that all of the other forums told me to do. then i restarted and now only one screen is working, at 1280X1024, it's "unknown" and i haven't a CLUE what to do here
I've installed kmod-nvidia on my F12 system and now it doesn't boot anymore. I just receive a black screen with a blinking '_' on top of my screen immediately after i choose F12 in my grub menu. (I have a Nvidia 8800GT.)
I've tried to run the following command after the installation but it didn't work: [url]
I have been using F13 with no problem for ages, but yesterday I decided to wipe my computer and re install it, and now I am having problems! It is with the nvidia driver.
I have a GeForce 8600 GT and usually just install kmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686 and blacklist the nouveau driver and that works fine. However since yesterday I recieve this error when trying to install kmod-nvidia:
Error: Package:
From hunting around on the net I took this to mean that there isn't a kmod-nvidia for the latest kernel? So one thing it said to try was to install akmod-nvidia, which I did. Then on boot up I saw that it created the correct dirvers for what I wanted and booted into Fedora, I tested that it worked (with 3d effects) and everything was fine.
However, when I restarted the computer it got seemingly to the end of the boot sequence, and then the screen just flashed repeatedly for a few seconds and then didn't do anything?
I just installed F14 which generally went well. I then did an install of kmod-nvidia and now the system hangs on start up. I see a couple of warnings and failures regarding the nvidia.ko module, and then the startup script stops after Starting atd: [OK] The screen flashes a couple of times and then is non-responsive. I can't even seem to get to the command line to back out the kmod-nvidia installation.
After installing nvidia drivers (sudo yum install kmod-nvidia), Fedora12 (kernel 2.6.31.12/5) fails to start. To be more exact, it show the 'loading screen', and then the screen gets all scrambled. Trying to switch the ttys doesn't work either (though I can boot in runlevel 3).
I know that there might be some conflicts with nouveu, but i followed the steps from 'Fedora Nvidia Driver Install Guide' (not allowed to post URLs), so I guess nouveu isn't exactly my problem(?).
Another puzzling thing about this, is that I can boot and use FC12 from VMware. No problems there. I also tried removing/reinstalling the kmod-nvidia (and everything else nvidia related), but the problem persists.
