Jan 19, 2010fedora 12 with php 5.3.1 + apache is installed on the server
I needed a FFMPEG + MENCODER + FFMPEG-PHP setup , so I have installed all of the necessary libraries/codecs along with ffmpeg , mencoder and ffmpeg-php
I've added ffmpeg-php (ffmpeg.so) module to php.ini and restarted httpd
But ffmpeg was not showing up in phpinfo() so I grepped : php -i | grep ffmpeg
for some clues and got this warning
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so' - /usr/lib/php/modules/ffmpeg.so: undefined symbol: php_gd_gdImageSetPixel in Unknown on line 0
That error explains why ffmpeg is not loading
Obviously something to do with GD library , so I've researched on the net , and found that some users suggest loading the GD module before FFMPEG module.
I gave it a try and added this at the end of php.ini:

Jul 19, 2010For a diskfull node (the OS installed in a disk), I can use the 'insmod' command to insert a kernel module into the kernel. And after the reboot, the module is still in the kernel. I have a question here: how, when and which kernel module will be loaded in the boot up process for a diskfull node?And for the diskless node, can I use the chroot or some other ways to install the kernel modules into ramdisk, so that kernel module can work when the diskless node boot up? I think it needs certain mechanism to load the kernel like the boot up of diskfull node.

Debian Multimedia :: Nvidia Module Unable To Load / Get It To Work?
Feb 19, 2011I am running squeeze on a PC 1386 and installed nvidia by using the packages in unstable. I was able to install nvidia and there was no error until the time I started X. The error is unable to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0).
I looked up the log for Xorg and it says Unloadable Module "nvidia".
I spent the entire 24 hours to fix it because this is my office computer and I practically done all the stuff found in the forums. I already did nvidia-xconfig to no avail. I even edited xorg.conf manually and still it was not up.
I have some suspects however which are:
1. Different versions between kernel and nvidia (but since I did it the debian way then I should not have any problems).
2. Nvidia-glx is unusable in Squeeze, so does it mean I go for the unstable distro?
3. Or I miss something crucial on how I installed it?
By the way, I installed Nvidia because I am using a SAMSUNG 21' LED monitor.

May 16, 2010for the last few releases, starting with 9.04 i've been having serious crashing problems with the nvidia driver. whether i installed it manually using the latest drivers directly from nvidia, or installing them through the restricted driver option. after a few hours CRASH. it's been awful. and i tried everything from this side to the moon to fix this issue, all to no avail. no idea why i've even stayed with ubuntu after all these issues. came from the debian world back in 5.04, and almost moved back a few times. but i did a clean install of 10.04, and thought i'd give the nvidia driver one last chance... if it didn't work i'd be moving back home to debian (with the suspicion the issue would stay).
so after i tried the restricted driver and CRASH. nothing to fix it. then i thought ok i'll try to use the latest driver from nvidia. but ran into this error when installing it:

If I try to open gedit as root I get the same message but with other messages. These are shown in the attached file. gtk.txt
This is on an upgraded machine using the preupgrade method. The same has happened on two machines upgraded from F14 to F15 the same way. 64 bit systems.
How to clean this up so the messages do no appear?

Mar 21, 2011Using tips provided in the "Sticky" posts, I have identified my wireless device -- BCM4322 -- and installed the necessary firmware and drivers. The device appears in Network Manager until system reboot, at which time the "ssd" driver module is loaded instead. After each boot I must execute the following commands to remove ssd and load the Broadcom driver:
rmmod ssb
modprobe lib80211
modprobe wl
The Broadcom README file provides directions to load the correct module automatically, but the commands appear to be incompatible with openSUSE 11.4. I'm happy to provide additional detail if needed

Feb 14, 2011Above adapter can be installed on v10.2 and 11.3 using ndiswrapper:-
1. Copy the 3 driver files from Windows:- like netwpn111.inf, WPN111.sys & ar5523.bin.
(Be carfeul about the exact names, because they have changed over time).
2. sudo ndiswrapper -i netwpn111.inf
3. sudo ndiswrapper -m
4. sudo modprobe ndiswrapper (the adapter should light up at this point and networks will be detected shortly after - see network manager). (Be careful of paths here - e.g. I had to use /sbin/modprobe - so 'whereis' may be necessary to find these commands).
2nd When I reboot, I need to run the modprobe command again. How do I make the module load automatically on boot? Also (and this is minor), can I bypass the KWallet, keyring thing? it seems silly to enter a password for the keyring and then click another password dialog, when I can just as easily enter the password for the network itself.

Mar 21, 2010I've been using fedora now for a while without major problems - since yesterday. Last night i rebooted my computer and to my surprise, this is what happened:
The Fedora screen takes a little bit longer to load and after that, instead of showing the login screen, i get a black screen with a prompt blinking. I can log in on text mode pressing alt+f2 alright. Tried "startx", but that did nothing for me, i only get a backtrack list and a "fatal server error: Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting. There's also something about checking the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" but when i try to open it i get a Permission denied message.
Fedora :: Firefox On F11 Cannot Load PKCS Module
Jun 10, 2009Just installed F11 and found out I cannot load an external security device in Firefox - the dialogue window does not work (Edit - Preferences - Advanced - Security Devices - Load, then the OK button does nothing!). This means you cannot use Firefox (i.e. cannot use F11 at all) if you need to log in through a web page or sign web transactions/documents using a smart card or any other crypto token.
I can't believe somebody released F11 with a browser that crippled! Moreover, this issue has been reported to Mozilla in April, but they did nothing until a second report in late May made them finally realize what they have done... and still Fedora team decided to go for it! how to fix this, or may be an idea when F11 will update Firefox (Mozilla has provided a quick fix for the problem)? I don't want to wait until 3.5 final release, which may be months ahead -- and I certainly don't want to recompile the whole Mozilla stuff by myself -- neither I want to mess up with a downgrade of the browser, or a second installation of a 3.0 version with different prefix.
Fedora :: Home Folder Does Not Always Load In Nautilus / Sort It?
Nov 27, 2009HiI still have a issue where nautilus occasionally wont show my home folder's contents.
(it has no images or videos or music in the home folder directly (only in sub-folders), only other folders and text files, incl dot files for settings)
I have to reboot to get it to work.
Sometimes it does it right after a reboot, a 2nd reboot then allows nautilus to see contents of the home folder.

May 1, 2011I've been unable to boot into x using the real-time kernel from CCRMA at home. I get the error "Failed to load module "nvidia" (module-specific error,0) no drivers available. I'm using the driver from Nvidia. I know that this is not an official Fedora kernel and I should be bothering CCRMA about this, but in the mean time could I edit the entry in grub.conf so that it will use the Nouveau driver for that kernel only? That way I could "dual-boot", and just use the rt kernel when I want to use audio software and don't need 3d graphics.

Jun 12, 2010I have a serious problem! I downloaded and burnt Ubuntu 10.04 and then chose it as start up volume in Snow Leopard's start up disk preference dialogue and although Ubuntu runs successfully from the cd (I'm typing from it now) I can no longer boot into OS X at all.
I have tried all of the different short cuts at boot up to no avail, even trying 2 keyboards. It insists on looking for the Ubuntu disk and if it is not in the drive comes up with an error message stating that a system disk cannot be found.
Is there any kind of tool on Ubuntu that will let me change the start up disc/interact with the Mac's efi settings? I previously had refit installed but this disappeared just before I booted the cd, is it worth using the live cd?
I tried booting from a Tiger dvd but it wouldn't let me do so, it just returned me to the ominous "System disk not found" message.
Does anyone have any kind of idea? Perhaps some kind of shell script that will reinstall refit? I'm guessing that any kind of dvd designed for PC will prob boot, any kind of OS X recovery disk compatible with MBR available?

Jul 22, 2011Anyone else having issues with the Atheros AR8132 and the atl1c module? I am on the 2.6.38.8-35.fc15.i686.PAE kernel, tried with a few others but it's flaky no matter which I choose.
Sometimes if I load/unload the atl1c module a few times the link will come up, but it seems the module is not even being loaded at boot and I have to modprobe it just to see the NIC.

Mar 25, 2011i installed firefox 4 and removed the old 3.X version. did a general update that my computer showed me was available then i noticed the first problem. firefox 4 would not launch when i clicked it, it would only launch when i clicked the gnome 3 applications button and then clicked and dragged the firefox logo to the desktop, then it opened. the second problem i am now having which at the moment is more bothersome is that after i closed the lid to my laptop and opened it up again after a while and logged back in and noticed that the ENTIRE gnome 3 environment was gone. no panel no menu nothing just the desktop and a few desktop icons. i tried the command "yum install gnome-shell" but it just sed that gnome 2.31.5-7 .fc14.i686 was already installed so it wasnt gonna do anything, then i tried the "gnome-shell --replace" command and it just said

I ran the boot_info script and the output is attached. From what I can tell it cannot even detect an OS being installed, but I've kept everything up to date and never had any issues. Everything was fine yesterday and now this. Also, I tried the Boot Repair CD and that did not work.

Mar 3, 2010Have been running ubuntu for sometime now and love its functionality...However since a recent update have the following issues..When I power on the laptop I get the toshiba logo followed by grub loading with the message ' invalid enviroment block" "unable to load default boot entries". When I then try to run the laptop off a LiveCd, the ubuntu splash screen appears with the loading process bar (horizontal line) displayed..however it then appears to display a black screen with no further activity..Now all of this is via an external monitor as my laptop screen shows no activity right from the very start with just a blank screen....so am really stuck here wondering if its a harware/software issue or a combination of both...

May 8, 2011I've installed openSuse 11.4 server-mode (text only) on my desktop, and I'm trying to configure IceWM so i'll eventually have it set up so it always boots into text only mode, but I could be able to quickly start icewm via the command line.using Yast, I installed the Xorg server, and icewm.when I type X, the screen goes black and it just doesn't seem to do anythingI found if I hit ctrl+alt+f1 it kinda puts me back into text only mode, but I can't put in commands anymore. The last thing it says on the screen is:
Failed to load module "fglrx" (module does not exist, 0)
I've goggled that error message and the discussions that popped up around it made no sense to me at all. I've never configured X from scratch before, can someone point me towards a tutorial or something?
