I installed Fedora fc14.i686 in a VMware player. I have been able to install many packages off the web.
First of all, I'm having this issue: I am having trouble with GIT, it keeps timing out on me. github.com[0: 207.97.227.239]: errno=Connection timed out fatal: unable to connect a socket (Connection timed out). This is happening over a 24hr period so I think its something on my end.
Also, my apache directory is not visible on my local LAN to other machines. I can browse in Fedora, however. Even the machine hosting the VM can't see my var/www/http directory. I set permissions but I have a feeling its a network issue somwhere. BTW, I can ping the Fedora VM (192.168.0.17) from other machines.
I just switched from Ubuntu to Fedora 13 because I was unable to get Ubuntu to connect to wireless networks. I tried everything suggested in help and forums, and kept getting "Bad Password" with WICD and Network Manager. Now, with Fedora...I still can't connect.
Problem #1: The guide says to "...make sure that the relevant wireless interface (usually eth0 or eth1) is controlled by NetworkManager," and that I do this via: System>Administration>Network
However, there is no Network option under System>Administration.
Problem #2: I open Network Manager, which displays a list of networks. I click on mine, configure it with WPA and the right password, and it fails to connect: "The network connection has been disconnected."
My laptop is currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a 320 GB HDD, which I have partitioned as follows. C: Drive as Windows 40 GB capacity and successively partitioned the rest of the drives for 50 GB capacity and left an unallocated space of 67 GB for fedora 13 x64 installation. The problem that I am facing is, that I am unable to install fedora on this unallocated space..even though I am checking the option for "Creating custom Layout". When I check the option for "Creating Custom Layout" Ive been shown with the only option to install fedora on the unused space on the HDD which is around 265 GB. I am also attaching a screen shot of my disk management. how I can install Fedora on this unallocated space of 67 GB?
I downloaded the usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data as suggested by one of the users from [URL] but whenever I try to install after going to the folder using sudo make install, none of the packages get inatalled. I am a new user and I am using ubuntu 9.10. I want to use my MICROMAX 300G USB modem to surf internet but can not do.
I am using squid as a proxy server in my cent os 5 machine. I have downloaded and install squidGuard-1.4 using ./configure which it successfully do.THe problem is when I use make command it give me an error beacuse may it it is not compatible with BerkeleyDB. For
Code:
[root@localhost squidGuard-1.4]# make making all in squidGuard-1.4 make[1]: Entering directory `/home/squidGuard-1.4/src'
[code]....
I am sure that it is due to patch missing .For that purpose I have download the patch "squidGuard-1.4-patch-20091015" and then extraxt it (untar) it. THe patch shows only these two files
Code:
[root@localhost squidGuard-1.4-patch-20091015]# ls Readme.Patch-20091015 sgLog.c
I does not know how to apply the patch with currect squidGuard ?

i've recently bought a ZTE MG880+ modem of reliance and since then i'm trying to establish a net connection in 9.10 but failed. As i was searching for a solution i came to know about wvdial and usb modeswitch;i dwnlded both the programs in XP and installed only wvdial because i couldn't install the usb modeswitch program. But still i was able to modeswitch with the following procedure,-
note down the idvendor & idproduct with lsusb sudo chmod 777 /lib/udev/rules.d/61-mobile-action.rules sudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/61-mobile-action.rules changed the default idvendor and idproduct with my own e.g 0x19d2:0xfff5 saved the file in downloads folder with name 90-mobile-action.rules moved the file to /etc/udev/rules.d folder reboot
After rebooting when i again plugged in the usb modem the lsusb command showed that idvendor:idproduct=0x19d2:0xfffe.So i think that mode switching is done but still i'm unable to connect to internet
Im currently unable to install a wireless USB network adapter because it requires an installation which can only be done with a cd and im not sure how to install the software to run the wireless adapter.

When I move on from here I get a message. the fedora disk was not found in any of your cdrom drivesI toddle off to my laptop and the install works fine My computer has 2 drives - CD & DVD. Does this message indicate that the computer is only looking at the CD drive. I guess I need to add some options to the install command.

Last week I put together a new build:Asus p6t deluxe v2, i7 920, etc etc And installed Win7 RC which worked perfectly, however for the past couple days I've been trying to install Fedora but it seems to never work. The F11 Full disk cannot load anaconda during install, but still manages to install, however the installation cannot boot. The live disk loads, but then a black screen with eth0 and eth1 link is down pops up. So I tried other dists, Ubuntu 8.04 cannot boot, 9.04 boots and installs, but after reboot doesnt work. Anyone got any ideas as to why I cannot install Linux. Also in Win7, I cannot install Fedora as a VM. It just goes to 100% load while booting and such.
I m facing a very strange problem while installing F10 from my NFS server , on the other hand i can sucessfully mount the directory from nfs server to client , but fail to install F10 from the same server,i created the F10 ISO image in the /mnt directory and share it via nfs server.
