Fedora Networking :: Dot1x Security Need To Enable In 10

Nov 28, 2009

We have enabled DOT1x security (8021x) in our wired network for testing purpose. but to get enable that facility our account should be a domain account so that it will get certifiy from the certificate server through RADIUS server. But in Fedora We are unable to get certified from the certificate server how ever if we are loging in through Root user or any local user in fedora we are able to get IP and able to work in net as well as connected to domain. but after loging off we are unable to login to domain account. I need to login throuhg Domain Account by using DOT1X security.

Fedora Security :: How To Enable The SELinux

Jan 17, 2011

My newly installed Fedora-14 (64-bit) has SELinux disabled. I can't find any way to enable it. I tried to set it manually in /etc/selinux/config to enforcing or permissive but nothing happens after reboot. In GUI configuration tool it is set to disabled and grayed out so that there is no way to enable it there. Is there another way to enable SELinux?

Fedora Networking :: Enable Wireless Networking Does Not Work In Windows?

Jun 20, 2009

I've been experiencing a problem with Fedora in which when I enable Wireless in Fedora, Wireless networking does not work in windows. HOwever, when disabled, it works correctly. Windows claims it is "not able to find any networks to connect to"

EDIT: It seems that when wireless is disabled manually on fedora before shutdown, there are no problems in windows.

Fedora Security :: Backwards Security - Networking ?

Aug 3, 2009

Problem that may require several tools available on Fedora. I don't know if its possible or not.

Given: Surveillance video box based on Fedora & Zoneminder. Internet connection is via a private 10.x.x.x network connection to the local phone company/ISP. That's the only connection available and they are the only ISP in the area. The ISP uses NAT to ultimately provide a routeable IP address, but that only works on outbound initiated traffic.

Problem: How can someone out on the Internet hit this box? i.e Is there any way to rig a method that will ultimately allow a connection initiated from the Internet to see the surveillance video that this box has stored via an http session?

I thought of one idea but don't have the tools to implement it. User sends an email to a server out on the Net somewhere. Surveillance box retrieves mail ever minute. The mail contains the users IP address. Surveillance box sends an outbound packet to that IP address to get NAT functional. The users box then uses that address to hit the box on the private network. The snag with this is that NAT is specific to ports, and I have no sway over the ISP's NAT capability.

Is there any way to push an http session outbound to the waiting end user? i.e. initiate a push of http traffic from the private box to the end user?

Fedora Networking :: How To Enable TCP / IP Connectivity With XP Machine

Oct 11, 2009

I have a Fedora Linux machine and a Windows XP machine and I want to enable TCP/IP connection between them using a cross-over cable. I have a type of middleware server running on the linux machine and I want to be able to run the client for the application on the windows machine and work that way. I have heard Samba as a solution but my understanding is SAMBA is mainly for file sharing.. and is not necessary for establishing TCP/IP connectivity. Is this a correct statement? How can I go about setting up TCP/IP connectivity between the two machines?

Fedora Networking :: Cannot Seem To Find - Enable Wireless ?

Aug 18, 2011

I am new to Linux and i just installed f15 kde on my computer. I have a wifi usb adapter and it is recognized and everything, however, i cannot seem to find/enable wireless and the wireless tab in the network manager is greyed out. Also, from reading other posts i believe there should be an option to 'Enable wireless' when left clicking the network interface icon in the toolbar. All I see is is 'Enable networking'.

lsusb:

dmesg:

iwconfig:

I had Ubuntu installed before and it worked fine. As far as I can tell all drivers and firmware are working fine so i just need to enable wireless networking i believe.

Fedora Networking :: Network GUI: Enable Button Grayed Out

Dec 17, 2009

My MythTV box has two interfaces:

A 10/100 Ethernet interface built into the motherboard. (Recognized as eth0)

A USB wireless dongle. Linksys, I believe. (Recognized as wlan0)

Both of these were working fine under FC8.

I recently performed a full reinstall, using Fedora 12.

Both network devices are recognized. I can configure them, using the Network Devices GUI that comes with KDE.

In the case of the wireless device, I entered all of the required information. (Copied in from the FC8 settings.)

Here's the problem. Whether I'm the root user or not, the "Enable" button is grayed out.

Any ideas? I had *no problem* with this device under FC8. The hardware "I see you" messages in /var/log/messages don't suggest any problems. I'm not leaving out any setting information.

Fedora Networking :: Can Not Get It To Detect My Wireless Network / Enable It?

Apr 17, 2010

I recently installed Fedora on an old computer of mine that I pulled out of storage, and I can not get it to detect my wireless network. Previously it was running Windows XP and I was able to get it to connect, but now that I'm on Fedora it doesn't even detect my network. I tried lspci and lsusb but I didn't find anything under network, only Ethernet showing my linksys. I know I must have a wireless chipset, but nothing will show.

I also attempted to yum install ndiswrapper because another thread with a similar problem suggested this, and when it prompted me for my password it wouldn't let me type. How would I go about fixing this?

Fedora Networking :: 10 Wired Con. Sharing / Cant Enable Eth1 To Test Settings?

May 24, 2009

I have Fedora 10 with 2 nic's and have used the firewall tool, network manager, etc.,then disabled the firewall front end and wrote my own iptables rules but can not even enable eth1 to use it. Tried 2 different common cards (like a network everywhere 10/100) Service network restart says eth1 not there.

Right now Ive:

eth0 connects direct to internet via my cable ISP.eth1 I've set as 192.168.1.1, netmask 255.255.255.0, gateway I wasn't sure but I set as my IP on eth0 isp supplied. DNS wasn't sure, just left blank.

But I can't even enable eth1 to test those settings.

then with gui firewall crap disabled I wrote my own iptables ruleset: (kernel flagged for ip forwarding)
with all chain policies set to allow.

Code:
iptables -A INPUT -i lo -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT
iptables -A INPUT -j DROP
iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING --out-interface eth0 -j MASQUERADE
iptables -A FORWARD --in-interface eth1 -j ACCEPT
And on the slackware box (ethernet switched btw) I set up static IP 192.168.1.100 w/ eth1 on fedora
as gateway.

But like I said, fedora refuses to enable eth1. Been reading and googling last night and all morn.

(p.s. gnome, but all the tools are confusing the crap outta me, They seem to work against each other. I'm used to just bash.)
