I was wondering if there was a way to invert screen colors on fedora 15. I came across compiz-fusion but it is in conflict with Gnome3 and the whole display crashes. All i am looking for is to invert colors.
I am running fedora 15 with gnome 3.0.1.
I have a busted laptop, case that is. The internals are great. So I stripped the screen and built a large box. I used a cnc router to build a lid that would flush mount the screen, and have a lip of wood left to cover the metal edges of the screen.
Ok, what happened is that the measure twice cut once rule or one of its variants went into effect, and I put the hinge on the wrong side of the box. Normally I would say just flip the screen around, but one edge is wider than the other, so that will not do. I want have the hinge towards the couch so that I can tilt it up and be able to easily see the screen.
So I need a way to invert the screen, and I can't seem to find a way to do it. The coffee table is an Emachines N-10, and my video driver is the Nvidea one, because karmic told me my onboard card is not quite up to the task of the other one.
I'm using Fedora 12 on a Virtual Machine (VM Player).

View 2 Replies View RelatedI most recently ran a developer preview of os x 10.7 Lion, and in that OS two finger scrolling was inverted (ie, moving two fingers upward on the touchpad would scroll you down the page). I love that I didn't need any extra drivers to get two finger scrolling working with ubuntu 11.04 on my 3rd gen mac air, and am super impressed with all the out of the box drivers for my mac; but I'm wondering if there's a way to invert the two finger scrolling directions. There must be... It's probably technically involved and will necessitate modify x11 files or something, but I think there must be a way.

I discovered the extended settings in vlc. I guess it just doesn't show the colour blue. Kind of ironic because of the concert.
I am using Fedora 8, gnome, a tcsh login shell, and I would like to have my directories and files color coded when I use ls. I have been searching the internet far and wide today looking for ways to do this. I have tried all the ways I could find: edit .bsrc file, edit DIR_COLORS, edit DIR_COLORS.xterm, create .dircolors, edit etc/profile, edit .cshrc file, alias ls --colors, and all combinations of this. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.I use su in my terminal I get the colors for ls. So there must be something up with my user profile? I have tried to edit my terminal profiles and my desktop themes neither worked. Please help! I know this is a trivial issue, but now I am on a mission to figure this out.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Fedora 15 (64-bit), and after running yum update and updating the kernel, I installed the ATI graphics driver from the AMD website. I have an ATI Radeon 5000 series card. The driver itself seems to work ok, as my Gnome 3 still operates after reboot, but the top bar (where the activities button is) is covered in weird rainbow-like colors of green, pink, and gray. It's extremely ugly and I can't find a way to fix it. Upon reading posts by others with this problem, no solutions were brought forth. I have heard that many people with ATI cards don't have this problem, and the bar looks normal for them. I won't really be comfortable using Gnome 3 unless I can get rid of those colors.

In Fedora 14, the colors of the grub boot menu were changed. why, previous versions of the grub boot menu were always the same, that black bar on white letters.
Now suddenly in F14, it was changed to a white bar, on white letters, which is hard to see and looks stupid besides. How do I change those colors back to the old way? the black bar on white lettering?

I'm using Fedora 15, Gnome Shell. Standard window decoration (Adwaita).
Some applications use one set of colors for drop-down menus; other applications use another set of colors.
Nautilus, e.g., uses a white / bright blue combination. Quodlibet and Firefox both use a greyish blue. see attached screenshots.
Are your Gnome applications also doing this sort of thing in Fedora 15 and Gnome Shell?
Are there stylesheet differnces in fedora/mac/linux. For example in Mac or Windows my website which contains a grid [URL]... shows better grid colors yellow white brown etc. In Linux/Fedora it's pure white which kinda looks ugly. Is fedora missing something?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI did not have any /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so I read on these forums that system-config-display would create one for me. I ran system-config-display and it created an xorg.conf. But now my display is all messed up!! So, I deleted the xorg.conf and nothing changed. Why on earth would the display still be messed up if I deleted the file that was causing it?? Does system-config-display change somethign else?

View 6 Replies View RelatedUsing Slackware 13.1 and rxvt-unicode as terminal emulator. There is no colors in ls output under user but running ls as root gives color output.
I check that /etc/profile.d/coreutils-dircolors.sh has executable bit, and LS_OPTIONS environment variable is correct

Running ls with --color option gives me color output. As I can see /etc/profile.d/coreutils-dircolors.sh should set up aliases for ls, dir and vdir commands but why this aliases don't work under user?
Why htop's bars have different colors? Still can't find an answer... And it's bars don't really correspond to the numbers. Even if CPU is loaded 60%, the bar can be loaded almost 100%.

You can see that the firefox and gimp are "active" and too dark to read, while kwrite is inactive and readable.They are BOTH too dark, and I cannot seem to find the option that controls those color elements.

Fwiw, the reason I want to do this is that karmic's ambiance theme provides black tooltip backgrounds with white tooltop text, but eclipse (stupidly) uses the black tooltip background for content assist boxes while ignoring the tooptip text color and instead applying its own sytnax highlighting rules, which specify black text. This results in black text on a black background -- ugh!
I would like to change the color scheme used in gnome terminal based on what host I'm connected to via ssh. Is this possible? If not, can you suggest any other terminal that has this functionality?
