Fedora :: Cannot Open PDF's In Firefox - Unable To Open Document
Aug 9, 2010As of this morning I cannot open pdf's by clicking on them in firefox. I can download them and open them from the download window or even from the folder they are saved to, but not from the browser. Evince opens and says: Unable to open document Error opening file: No such file or directory.

For example, I was trying to print a document out from Open Office and I chose FILE->PRINT. The print dialog box pops up but it remains grey and doesnt do anything.

Oct 14, 2009I was chatting with my 83+ year old mother last night on the phone about her computer. She boots about 50-50 between winXP and openSUSE-11.1. She was complaining about some Windoze problem that neither my wife nor I could remotely fix (with us living a continent away) and she noted she would not boot to winXP if it were not for the fact she can play back (from her Hot Mail account) power point presentations MUCH easier under winXP than she can under Linux. Hence she often boots to winXP because she can handle those files easier under winXP.

/usr/local/bin/ooextract.py myDocument.doc myDocument.pdf
the open office deamon (sOffice.bin) takes 100% CPU load forever.
We are using Open Office 2.6.3 on a virtual machine running debian squeeze 2.6.32-5-amd64
UPDATE:
We found out that this appears only with our test document, other documents can be converted without problem. But how can we find out what's wrong with our document. How can we enable traces/loggin o the sOffice.bin process?

Aug 3, 2010I'm running Open Office 3.2.0. Does anybody know how to change the background color of an entire Open Office document? I know that you can change the background of a page in the Format >> Page menu, but this does not change the color of the page area inside the margins. Normally it wouldn't make much sense to change the background color when it just gets print to a page anyway. But I actually wanted to export the document to PDF, and was thinking it would make the PDF look better if I could pick the BG color.

Mar 25, 2010I have made some plots in gnuplot that I wanted to include in a document. I have tried both OpenOffice and Kile.
In openoffice the plots are shown when they are imported, but when I save the document and open it up again the plots are gone (unable to read).
In Kile I can't even import them, It cant find the file in the folder. I tried changing the formats from jpg to png - didn't work. Tried just taking a snapshot of the original plot and saving it, didn't work either (but have used the same method earlier today without problems for a different image).
When i move the cursor across the file, it fades away as if it's not registered correctly. Does anybody have a solution for this?

Packets from my local network are just routed through ppp0 and now the fun part starts: I want to MARK (netfilter...) all packets originating from one specific user on that box in order to use another routing table that will contain a default route via the ppp1 interface.Marking seems to work fine as does the second routing table. Ubuntu Networking :: Point To Point (ad-hoc) SSH Over USB Or Ethernet?
Jun 3, 2010I was wondering if there is any way to SSH from one computer to another and completely bypass a router or any other network infrastructure. The reason I ask is because my robot ( same one in this post ) often needs to change which wireless network it automatically connects to, however it is getting annoying to have to drag out a monitor and plug it in along with a keyboard and mouse every time this needs to happen. Instead I'd much rather just plug my laptop into the other computer, SSH in and change the network myself.
So I thought I would ask you kind people if this is possible. The robot's computer has unused ethernet and USB ports, and I'd like to use those if at all possible (and with linux, anything is possible! -- sorta). I thought about doing something with ad-hoc, but this would limit my range (in infrastructure mode I can control the thing anywhere there is internet), and is to be avoided.

(even in the console)I searched in Okular, pdfedit, gimp and gnome documentviewer but they dont seem to have a title option.Only open office writer has this option, but this is actually not saved in the pdf title tag.(I need it as Google indexes the title tag and I have there an ugly path name at the moment.)
