View 1 RepliesI have just updated my kernel and immediately struck trouble. The kernel update is marked as security update.
When booting I get a multiple warnings " deprecated config file /etc/modprobe...", then "no root device found" followed by "boot has failed, sleeping forever"!Clearly something is amiss with this update, so figured the best thing might be to remove it and wait on a fix, but attempting to remove the kernel via the package manager would cause a whole lot of other packages to be removed as well.Instead, I edited grub.conf, commenting out all the kernel-2.6.34.7-63 lines, so that the default is now the previous kernel (2.6.34.7-61).
Attempting to compile an application that is not located in any of the repos yet for 11.3 64 bit. I have downloaded the appropriate src and untarred it. I have made sure that I have all kernel-headers packages installed and am unsure as how to proceed. I tried using the command "./configure --build=x86_64" and then receive an error stating that the "SYSTEM IS NOT SUPPORTED" and continued errors stating that gcc is not installed, eve though it is.
Just got the latest kernel update 2.6.31.6-162 for fedora 12 64bit and it won't boot on my PC. I just get a black screen with some text that doesn't mean anything to me. Computer is a s775 E7200 with nvidia 730i/9300 integrated graphics. I am NOT using hardware graphics drivers at the moment, having decided to stick with Nouveau drivers for a time. What system log tools do I need to identify the problem?

I've been working to get gcc up and running on a new install of Fedora 13. glibc-devel had dependencies upon installation where it required glibc and glibc-common, both 2.12.1-3. No problem, found both at rpm dot pbone dot net. However, when I try to install the following circular dependency results... it doesn't matter the order of install.

We installed 3 new rhel 5.5 systems yesterday; each of which are generating this error " Error: certificate verify failed" in response to a basic "yum update". From what I can gather, via a general search, this may be isolated to x86_64 -- however the references I found were specific to Satellite Server (which we are not using). Never the less, I checked the PATHs for the cert and they are correct. All of our 32 bit systems are running RHEL 5.5 and this is not a problem on any of them.

I tried added soft-link to libpcap.so.1.0.0 from libpcap.so.0.6.2 to workaround, doesn't help. hen I DLed the tarball, ./configure gives an error, even after including --with-pcap=/usr/lib64/libpcap.so.1.0.0 checking for --with-pcap option... configure: error: /usr/lib64/libpcap.so.1.0.0 does not exist I CAN'T install the rpm, I CAN't compile from source. I can't find this program on any suse repo. I need to use this prog -- what can I do?

I've got an IBM xSeries 346 server running CentOS 5.5 with all updates applied with yum.
The video card is an ATI Radeon (lspci says: 01:06.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon RV100 QY [Radeon 7000/VE]).
Everything worked fine until a bad day where there was an environmental power failure and the server crashed.
I turned it on, I manually check the file system, some files went lost and after the reboot the X server didn't start.
After the first boot I had problem with /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit, sbin/multipath.static and /dev/cpu/microcode, I solved them and now the message it shows is:
"Failed to start the X server (your graphical interface) It is likely that it is not set up correctly. Would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the problem?"
I choose OK and it appears an empty log, if I go in /var/log/gdm and I do an ls -al:

Trying to restart the X server, I press enter on OK and it loops the initial message ("Failed to start the X server...)
Unfortunately my laptop was powered off whilst the Updater Applet was doing an update. Now, after a reboot, the system always fails when updating. Neither the Updater Applet nor yast does succeed. To me it looks like some involved DB got corrupted. The error messages are shown below.

I've just installed an ubuntu 9.10 server at my office and configure apache, php and mysql without problems.
Now i need to share some directories in order to wed developers access to the websites files.But when I try to share, ubuntu tries to install samba services, and I keep to get those errors:

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a netbook with a 150GB hard drive in it. A while ago I dropped my netbook and it wouldn't boot. Had a "failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED" error at startup. So naturally I went and reinstalled. Reinstalling worked fine and I had my computer back. What I didn't account for was the fact that anytime it lost power and didn't shut down properly, I'd get the same error. I can't seem to recover my data either. Can't get any live disks to mount the hard drive after this error but for some reason I can still reinstall Crunchbang (essentially debian). Now I know there are bad sectors or something because when I try to use the disk that came with the netbook with an image of Windows XP that writes to the entire hard drive it throws an error but linux will avoid this I suppose when installing.
Now all of this is to say, being a laptop, several times I have left it on overnight when I fall asleep working or have to run into to town and it'll die and then I lose all my data, rather irritating. What's causing this error? What can I do to prevent it besides getting a new hard drive? If I can't prevent it from happening in the future is there a way to recover the data off the hard drive? I'm currently trying to configure Linux heartbeat on my two Linux servers(where SMPP service is running) my two machines are in two different location with different notworks (primary is in 192.168.x.x and secondary is in 10.48.x.x network)
I want to know whether is it possible to configure heartbeat between two such different networks (what i found by surfing internet is the way of configuring in same network) if possible, can i configure to listen to my primary server IP instead of having a secondary IP in primary server (since my SMPP service is running with my primary server's IP)
I have setup a MySQL High Availability Cluster with two nodes using DRBD & Heartbeat. I have successfully installed the cluster but one question which is still not solved is that Heartbeat monitors failover of network or server failure, etc.
What will happen if MySQL service gets stopped or do not start. This heartbeat-DRBD cluster does not take any action on that part. Now I want to enable this feature too which also monitors MySQL service. I have gone through MON help on web but could not find out any good step by step tutorial.

I am using the the cib for configuration. What I want to do is the following: I have two Nodes. I want to run a clone resource on both nodes. It's named I want to run as a clone. This works fine.Additionally I want to have two virtual IP adresses. One should be set on Node 1 the other on Node 2. This works fine as well. I want to set dependencies between the resources. And this is where I have problems. What I want to achive: In case named is not able to run on a node, the vIP should switch to the other node (which then will have both vIPs). In case both nodes are able to run named, there should be one vIP on each node. Sounds simple, but does not work.Accourding to the heartbeat docu this an be achieved by using

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have configured heartbeat+DRBD on a SLES10 SP3 cluster and that's working fine except when both nodes are down and I turn on only one node. When this happens, the heartbeat don't starts automatically (the service status says it's unused, so the services, IP address and partition don't start automatically too).
I can turn on the heartbeat manually (service heartbeat start) and get the services, ip address and partition initialized too, but I'd like to make it starts automatically because it's possible to have one node broken and the person that will turn on the other node can forget to manually starts the service.
-When the heartbeat is unused on the first node and I turn on the second node, the heartbeat on the first node starts automatically and everything is fine.
-The command "chkconfig heartbeat on" was executed.
Is it possible to do jboss application server fail over by using heartbeat on rhel5?
View 1 Replies View RelatedFedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. (I assume because Update manager removed the old nvidia? But I also assumed that a new version would be installed automatically?)I received the following Boot messages:

I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?
