I have the mouse X7, model XL-750F from A4tech. This mouse was running with Fedora 10 without any problems. Now I have installed Fedora 12 and my mouse pointer always moves to one side or corner of the screen. My second Logitech mouse is working fine. But it is a little bit old.

My problem is that I take the laptop to client sites and often use it to scan their hdd for viruses and for data recovery projects. I need an antivirus program which I can install on this Ubuntu machine so I can continue scanning client hard drives.

I have Dasher, On Screen Keyboard, and Orca un-checked so they don't "Show". I also have Assistive Technologies un-checked in SYSTEM -> PREFERENCES. But, the Assistive Technologies Blue Icon is still being displayed to the Left of my Wifi Icon in the Top Right Panel. How do I get it REMOVED?

My initial experience with 10.1 installer recommendations were not favorable, probably because i'm used to windows and weak on Linux. This leads me to the query, should I: use the 11.2 install disk and trust it's (and mine) ability to tweak to my specs of overwriting 10.1? - or - gpart the appropriate partitions and the 11.2 installer fills in the blanks?
My sound card.. TECH-COM PCI 4 sound card isn't working with Ubuntu. I don't know where I can get its driver.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have custom built Linux kernel (2.6.31) and also xorg. xorg is using xserver 1.7.3 . I have an application which simulates the mouse and sends mouse move events. When I switch the device on, the system boots and Xorg comes up, I can see X cursor on the system. When I start sending mouse move events from the application, the cursor do not move. If I attach mouse to the device and then move the mouse, from this point onwards the mouse events get detected from the simulation application. I have checked the dmesg log as follows

I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. I have a 1TB usb externalHD that I am installing fedora11 and have partitioned it so that I have 500Gb free for fedora, system is doucore 2.4,4gb RAm, I tryed doing this with three differend mice and connectting the mouse to different usb ports
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to FC14 (64) from FC13 (32) and the mouse middle button (simultaneous left+right button) paste function has stopped working. I tested it with 3 makes/models of different mice and trackballs. For some reason (left+right) mouse returns the same code as the single right-button ('xev' value = 3). This worked in all previous FC and RH distros I've used in the past. Did a default setting get zonked somewhere? System: Toshiba laptop w/ USB mouse.

So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. From System->Preferences->Mouse, I set the various mouse Pointer Speed acceleration and Sensitivity to Slow, Fast, Low, High, and and I couldn't get it any better. I recently installed a startech PCI usb expansion card...All went well and all external devices connected show up without a hitch. However a day ago The card/devices just STOPPED. I rebooted and no avail. Rebooted a second time got a IRQ 19 failure error. Then on a third try It showed up and worked fine... This has happened twice. I use nvidia graphics drivers over the nouveau as I would like the hardware acceleration. I have had this problem with two different "gaming" mice. But the mouse I am currently using is a Corsair M65 Gaming Mouse.

The matter of hand is about once a week my mouse tends to misbehave. I can move the mouse around but I cannot click on any windows or select any options by clicking. I cannot even right click on the desktop! I have tried starting X in another tty and the issue tends to persist shortly after starting X. The weird part is other days of the week the mouse works completely fine.
Having this problem in the first place, I have a snoop around and I learnt that I needed to create a config file for the mouse.
I have created a file in: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d named 50-vmmouse.conf with the contents of:

I have also tried putting the same data into an xorg.conf file, but alas the problem still exists.
Just to note, I have not tried using a basic mouse for a week, so I cannot pass any data on that. But I prefer the issue to be resolved with the mouse I enjoy using.
This is really frustrating as it stops me from using my system properly, the only solution tends to be to restart the machine. It would be nice for my mouse to work 100% of the time knowing it'll work.
Mouse misbehaves about once a week, tried different config files but no avail.
It's happened twice recently, once in Karmic while in Firefox, and now in Lucid while in Gedit. The mouse becomes unresponsive to clicks, but when moved the pointer highlights the portion of the screen it moves across. Both times I had to alt+sysreq R-E-I-S-U-B to recover, but in hindsight I think I could've simply ctrl+alt+del and let it count down the 60 seconds to shut down the system. I'm curious as to what could be causing this and what I may try to prevent it in the future.

Here it seems as if the mouse is recognized twice, once as a mouse and once as a keyboard, where it says "Cooler Master Storm Havoc Mouse: (accel) keeping acceleration scheme 1" so I'm wondering if this is what causing the problem with mouse acceleration not working.
However my USB headset also seems to be recognized as a keyboard in the xorg log, but it works just fine. In xinput list and xfce mouse settings, the mouse is listed twice and even the keyboard is listed as a mouse.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10 for about three months now (I am a total greenhorn) . A few hours ago, I decided to add the KDE 4.4 desktop environment. I followed the procedure on this link. It was all in GUI, no terminal commands required. [URL]
Installed KDE and everything is fine except two problems.
1. The KDE mouse pointer has become default in GNOME and I just can't change it. Tried everything, changing theme, customising theme and even downloaded the "mouse pointer" app from Software Centre. Nothing works.
2. I am not able to upgrade anything using Kpackagekit. It keeps telling me I don't have authorisation, without asking for my password.
Fresh install of 32-bit 11.3 on my father's computer.He needs me to enlarge the mouse pointer and/or make it a different color. I changed it in the settings/themes thing like you are supposed to, but it appears to only take effect in Mozilla.needs the larger mouse pointer for the entire system. After booting up my pc, sometimes it loads, and then my mouse freezes and i am unable to do anything at all. keyboard doesnt work either. Causing me to do a restart. when starting my pc, i get the ubuntu splash screen and then it jumps to a black screen with: "desktop login" after i out in my log in it asks for the password, i put that in and get "Weclome to Ubuntu etc" (forgot all the words, but its some statement welcoming me to ubuntu. The i get "tim@tim-desktop: $" but this is all on a black screen. Only way to get past this is to reboot my pc. and then it loads properly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu a couple of months ago using the Wubi installer.Today, I went to restart my PC, but soon after hitting 'Restart' the computer became unresponsive. I couldn't get any keyboard/mouse input to register on screen, so I did a force shut down by holding down the power button. When I turned the computer back on, I selected Ubuntu from the boot menu. The computer printed some messages that passed by relatively quickly so I'm not sure exactly what they said, but it was something along the lines of "NTFS3: wubibuilder failed to load", and then it went straight back to the boot menu. Tried again and again with no success, so I loaded my Windows 7 install to investigate from there. I found a link to Explore2fs on these forums, so I loaded it up, but it apparently can't locate my Ubuntu partition, or at least I don't see my files. I ran the Wubi installer again to see what it would say, and it tells me that a previous installation was detected, and gives me the option to uninstall. Does anyone have an idea of what went wrong,
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Ubuntu desktop, since I had been running my server as Ubuntu Server on a guest OS on Windows 7 and never really used the Windows part of the computer. Since then, I've been unable to use the mouse in a graphical environment for longer than a few minutes without it starting to act crazy. The mouse moves around normally, but won't respond to clicks (left, middle, or right) but the keyboard shortcuts still work. I'm not sure if things have changed since I last used Gnome though, but Alt+Tab is not working for me either when this happens. Sometimes, the active window is even behind another window, and isn't pulled to the foreground.
After a bit of frustrated clicking and jamming of buttons on the keyboard, sometimes the mouse kind of starts working because I'll notice a right click menu open. But, I am still unable to move windows or click on them to bring them to the foreground, and my mouse presses only work on the current window. And then, eventually, after about a minute or so, it'll stop respond again too.
I saw in one thread that someone had dead spaces where he couldn't click, so he installed and ran Gnome and that fixed it, but I tried using Ubuntu Classic and it is still giving me the same behavior. I'm actually posting this message now in links, because I can't use Firefox or Chrome well enough when it's hidden behind other windows.

View 7 Replies View Relatedslackware and am infact running Vector Linux which is slackware based. I used to use fedora on my old laptop got a new on and tried vector. The mouse on the new one doesn't seem to want to work properly, it jumps alot and usually ends up at the end of the screen unable to move, however does manage to click almost every icon on the screen and change desktops.A USB mouse works fine its just the touchpad.It's a Zoostorm Freedom and I can't even find the windows drivers for it let alone what i need for this. I tried editing the xorg.conf to stop the tab button, which doesn't do anything, installed the latest synaptics and still nothing, tried using what someone else uses and still nothing, I cant even find out what kind of mouse it is!?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's two days now I'm in deep troubles after my last "yum update". The system boots as usual, the graphical login pops up the normal way but no input is handled by either the internal keyboard (the system is a laptop), the mouse pad, the external USB mouse and keyboard.
The hardware itself seems to be working as I can pop up the BIOS menus and even edit the GRUB booting line. But, after GRUB there's no possible input. I've tried to boot the system with the Fedora 11 DVD, rescue menu and then chroot. This in order to run a "yum update" in the hope that the problem was in some broken update. No chance: there's no update.
My questions are:
1. Is there a way to boot Fedora withou any graphical interface from GRUB (or anything else to skip the KDE)?
2. Is there a way to have the (cabled) network activated at boot *before* the graphical login?
3. What the he** is happening to my otherwise pefectly working laptop?
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my HP Pavilion a320n computer with a ps2 mouse and the mouse pointer points with the bottom of the mouse and not the upper tip of the point. It does the same thing with Ubuntu 10.04.1. In Windows 7 and XP the mouse is normal. I don't know how I could adjust it or is this just a bug in the OS?

It generally happens when I hit the mouse scroll wheel or when I move a window around very quickly. After that the left mouse button would stop working...
Anyway I found an easy workaround which I thought I'd share.Just hit 'enter unity' on the VMWare player menu. Then you can immediately exit unity again. This somehow resets the mouse into its normal state...
