I recently installed OpenSuse 11.1 (i586) on a new laptop (HP 6710b) all has been going well, until I tried to burn audio CDs with K3B using .wav files in a directory in the format 01.wav 02.wav 03.wav etc. To burn the audio CDs I have been running K3B as root to avoid any potential permission issues. I now have a stack of cd 'coasters' with only one lucky success using the command line, which when the exact command was repeated failed again. I have successfully burnt 2 data DVDs using K3B, one as root the second as user, both without problem - so maybe it is not a permissions problem?
I am using K3b 1.0.5 in KDE 4.1.3. (it runs under KDE3) I have not been able to run k3bsetup � it is not part of the installation. However permissions appear correctly set-up � I also added the appropriate users to the group �disk�.

I'm running hauppauge 2250 tuners (2 of them, 4 tuners total).I have the tuners set up and working although when booting up they worked intermitantly until I went through backend setup and restarted the frontend.I solved this by adding a 30 second sleep before backend startup and this seems to have fixed this.I'm still having trouble with burning and ripping dvds.I can play dvds in vlc and mythtv (mythtv since adding the sleep line). but when I try to burn a recording to dvd it fails on growisofs.I get an error 1.I've set the correct region with regionset and I have the dvd codecs.

My laptop's been locking up in Linux (Ubuntu, Backtrack, Puppy) periodically for a while now. When it locked up, it was always immune to the magic of SysRq, which I thought might indicate a hardware problem. It became so bad that I had to stop using the laptop.
Today, when I turned it on and tried to boot into Fedora 12, I got the following error (just once, it just locked up at various points during the splash screen after this once):

All the seemingly missing letters were really missing, not my typos.
As you can see, kernel version is 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.x86_64 and my laptop is a Sony Vaio TZ 250N (Core 2 Duo ULV 1.2GHZ). Note that with the other remaining kernels from the updates, nothing ever happened other than the locking up. The core temperatures hover pretty high, about 55-60C peak but this is still below the critical temp. Memtest came up clean when the problem first started happening.

I have two server, one f12, the other f13 (behind a firewalled router) and want them to serve desktops to anybody in the local network. User accounts in both servers are established as username: user1 password: user:1 , username: user2 password: user2 ....... Every remote user should take an available user on server but no multilogin to the same user. Remote users are no adult so they can mistake. That's the problem. On the remote dektop section unmark everyone can see my desktop didnt help.

I did an independent verification of the DVD and zero errors found. Download was from Fedora's own torrent, so files should be verified anyway.
