Generic Intel(To be recommended for use on distributions that are not transmitted for):
# su
Password: ******* # cd /
# tar xvfj fcc-9.124-Linux.i686.tar.bz2
Dependencies:
- The packages should bring down the appropriate dependencies when installed, in case the generic package is needed, the following dependencies are needed:
QT 3.3
libartsc 1.3.2+
libpng 1.2.8+
libjpeg 6b+
How do I know that the dependencies above are implemented?
I just installed a program and do not know what is causing this error. When I run it from the applications menu I get the following error "Could not launch 'FirstClass Client' :Failed to execute child process "/opt/firstclass/fcc" (No such file or directory)". I opened up a terminal and looked at the location. The file is there. I do not know much at all in this area but do not understand why this error is occurring.

I'm having a problem when browsing shares on other machines. If I hit alt+f2 and enter "smb://server" I get an error saying: Could not open location 'smb://server/' No application is registered as handling this file If I enter "smb://server/share1" everything works fine. Typing the server name without the share name worked fine in Fedora 8, which is what this machine was running before I did a clean install of Fedora 10.
I am new in redhat 5.3. i want to open web browser in TEXT mode .is there any way or command used to open browser. I want also open PDF file in TExt mode ...
I've been using Claws for a long time and I like its filtering capability, however this app is hanging, hogging 100% of the cpu time. the last version was similar, but the latest version hangs after an hour.I've run it in debug mode, and with strace but nothing stands out I'm suspecting that its the way it looks for a pipe used by pulseaudio, which is not installed. It doesn't hang immediately after trying to open the pipe but within a few minutes. I'm not getting any success from the claws group, so time to look for another mail applicationI'm open to suggestions, I've tried Tbird and found the filtering lacking.there is a catch, I need to be able to import the mail from Claws-mail into it.
This is my first post! I am a brand new Linux fan and am determined to understand how this system works! I am running Fedora 11. My wired NIC works just fine. I am having problems with wireless. I ran lspci -v to find my driver details, found it online and got it working so it would show up in the network configuration. I am having problems getting it to work from there. I am used to getting windows to install the driver and then being able to search for wireless networks. When I try to activate it i get:
02:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. WL-138G V2 802.11g WLAN PCI Card Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 64, IRQ 21
I have had a Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 since Fedora 10. In addition, both Fedora 10 and 11 wouldn't recognize the card with out third-party drivers. I was pretty excited when I booted the 12 Live CD and it recognized it at boot.
Since this is my lab box I thought its time to give Fedora 12 a try.
I did an DVD upgrade from 11 to 12 and rebooted. The Broadcom came up fine this time. I did a yum upgrade to finish from whatever was not on the DVD and rebooted. This time no 'b43' network card was recognized. I still had my third part driver files so I:
I am sorry for dragging this out this far, but now every time the Fedora 12 box reboots I have to type in modprobe b43 to get my card to work. I did not have to do this for neither Fedora 10 nor 11.
I put a line in /etc/modprobe.conf - 'alias wlan0 b43' but I still don't get my wireless card until I type modprobe b43.
I am just getting into fedora and have installed it on an EMachine ET 1810. According to my SMOLT info, I have the above Video card. (my smolt info is in my signature). I had installed a couple of games that require 3d drivers in order for the game to play! but I can't find any.
I installed Fedora 14 on my new PC but I don't have network connection. In fact, I hit the command "lspci" and the prompt return :
Code: Ethernet Controller : Intel Corporation 82579V Gigabit Network Connection So, I created a ifcfg-eth0 file on /etc/sysconfig/network-script because it doesn't exist :
Kernel 2.6.21.5, Slackware 12.0Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0.0.4I have just typed, using a GUI mail client (or the graphical front end of a mail client) the text of a letter and am about to send it. Before I do so, I'd like to see how the letter will look to the recipient. But I can't find anything similar to a 'Preview' button. The client I use is Thunderbird. What do users of mail clients (graphical) do in a similar situation? I mean "to preview", when writing. Form among all mail clients, many must share the same features.
I'm using Nomachine NX client for Windows to remotely connect to my Ubuntu.Every now and then I experience a strange phenomena: the text in the prompt of all open terminal windows becomes black, so it can't be viewed over the black background. Typed commands are also black, but the results are in normal colors. So I can run stuff, but can't see what I'm typing...After I close all open terminal windows and start a new terminal window, everything goes back to normal.
Is there a good terminal services client available I can connect to my Windows boxes from Fedora12? I am willing to pay for a commercial license if there is a good one
I have 2 laptops connected by a lan cable - from 1 laptop network card to the other. the first laptop is an Asus eeePc that runs a modified version of debian. this one is connected to the internet and i simply want the other one to connect to the internet via the lan cable. the "server" has 2 connections: 1. one for connecting to the internet via a dialup mobile connection (i checked and this connection is shared) 2. the 2nd connection: "Local Area Connection" defined this way:
IP address: 192.168.0.4 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 + it is also marked as 'shared' that's all, no Gateway/DNS/Wins defined
[code]...
my problem is that the client (192.168.0.3) cannot open web pages even if it sees just fine the server's files.
I have installed FC13 (x64) but X Server fails to start on my machine having "Intel Corporation 82G33/G31" Integrated Graphics Controller. find the attachments xorg.conf & Xorg.0.log. My smolt id is [URL]...
I have a problem with the latest Fedora. Installed it cleanly on a machine with Gigabyte H55M-S2 with Intel Core i3. There seems to be no sound and I checked to see if anything is muted but is not. The manual says that the sound chip is ALC888B so this could be the first problem. Any ide how I can make it work? Here is a dump of some things on my system.

I put a text file on my desktop and added a couple lines of text with gedit. File type shows text/plain. Double-click opens the file in gedit which is what I want. I'm using the file to temporarily hold some snips of code that I copy from file to file, but when I copy some html into the file and save it, now file properties show it's text/html and a double-click opens the file in firefox, which isn't what I want. Is there some way to keep the file type from changing itself?
I'm running and XP virtual machine using KVM / QEMU. THere are time when I need to copy text from an application in the Fedora host machine and paste the text into a different app in the XP guest machine. I was able to do this using Vitualbox on an earlier version of Fedora.
I just installed Steam on my Linux machine tonite, following this guide [URL] ....
When I try to get the client going, it just connects to my account, checks for updates, verifyies data, and then starts over. It will keep doing that until I end the program, and never opens so I have access to my games.
I don't know if it is useful or not, but here is a picture I took of terminal I ran steam from (I don't know how to do a screen capture in linux).
What is a good example of an Open Source IRC client for Windows or Linux? If not, something free and extensible will do.The reason I would like this to be open source is that I wouldn't mind being able to understand how the message formatting is implemented in such a project.
I've asked this question more or less before on stackoverflow and believed it to be solved (hence accepted the answer) but it turns out it wasnt solved. In simple terms, I've written a python script which just outputs text constantly to stdout, thats all it does 24/7. I've linked it to this xinetd file
I want to freely download and install sybase-openclient-11.1.1.3 either source or rpm package sybase-common-11.9.2-3.i386 either source or rpm package Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise versions 11.9.2 or 11.0.3.3 for Linux. I searched a lot but didn't get it,
I had an open office document text and accidentally over-wrote it with a completely different file! i am not sure how it happened but it seems like I "saved link as" from a browser and accidentally double clicked on the existing file - and it now contains the text I was downloading.
does ubuntu save old versions of documents? does open office have a revert function? i really need the document that was lost and it seems like this problem is way too easy to make for there not to be safeguard,
I just updated to Ubuntu 10.10 and when i opened open office all the text is blacked or smeared, it kinda looks like someone took a pen and scribbled over the text. If the test not blacked out if you scroll over the text it is the blacked out.
I am working on a presentation in OpenOffice's Impress. When I try to put animation in either the text or pics, it suddenly quits. I then click into it again and it does a recovery. Has anyone had this problem? What have you done about it? I am on a Dell optiplex 745 dual core with 2 gig memory operating in 10.04.
