I'm running and XP virtual machine using KVM / QEMU. THere are time when I need to copy text from an application in the Fedora host machine and paste the text into a different app in the XP guest machine. I was able to do this using Vitualbox on an earlier version of Fedora.

since some days I have a strange problem with KMail (1.13.5) in KDE4.5.5. When I try to copy some text from an email and past it to any other program (e.g. Openoffice), not only the marked text will be pasted, but a kind of HTML code including the text.
This bug is not OpenSuse specific. I found the same bug in a Fedora mailing list (of course, whithout an answer): Strange Copy/Paste behavior in KMail 1.13.5/Kontact 4.4.8
I'm looking for software which will allow me to record a screen-cast of a terminal based application, recording keystrokes, timing of keystrokes, and audio. I see a couple of advantages to this approach over video capture: Display independence: the viewer can display text in any resolution/style they want, not limited to the resolution of the recorded video. Ability to copy and paste text from the screencast.

From this file, I need line ~ 1.100 to line ~16.000 (these lines are always the same btw, this may make the solution easier, dunno) to be copy/pasted to another file, where the lines ~500 to ~15.000 (also, every time the same) should be overwritten by the aforementioned lines...I haven't found or come up with anything that works yet, mostly I find solutions to copy everything from one file to another but I can't find something to specifically overwrite a part of a file with part of another.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI put a text file on my desktop and added a couple lines of text with gedit. File type shows text/plain. Double-click opens the file in gedit which is what I want. I'm using the file to temporarily hold some snips of code that I copy from file to file, but when I copy some html into the file and save it, now file properties show it's text/html and a double-click opens the file in firefox, which isn't what I want. Is there some way to keep the file type from changing itself?

So far whatever I try dumps all the text onto a single line meaning I have to manually go through inserting line feeds which is tedious and can introduce errors.
Is there a way to paste text with line feeds intact? Rather than copying each line individually?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup and configure a server entirely with text only run mode 3 on a virtual machine so I can redo my current live server. I'm now trying to set up the firewall of the system using iptables. I've read up on it and came up with the following:
-clear all rules
#iptables -F
-set default policy rules
#iptables --policy INPUT DROP
#iptables --policy FORWARD DROP

Everything above worked for me but just out of interest I looked at my live server which was configured using a GUI. I ran iptables-save and it was pretty much the same but its port open lines read like this:
#iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -m state --state NEW --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
so finally my question is do I really need the "-m state --state NEW"? Wouldn't having that drop established connections on those ports? I'm just confused as to what exactly the NEW state is doing and would it make a difference if I didn't include it.
To run a parallel chemistry program, I need to build the host list. The cluster already has SGE(grid engine) installed and it generates a host list file with the following contents:

The important bits are hostname(ex compute-1-1) and number of cpus to use(ex 2). And for this program, it wants them in this form, a shell variable: HOSTLIST=hostname:cpus=X hostname:cpus=X .... I've tried this script, but it doesn't work

I've seen about five different files referenced on various forums, but haven't been able to locate any of them on my computer.

I found the file in /user/share/themes/Default/gtk-2.0-key/.When I open this file, it's empty. I added the code there, but it didn't work. The only other locations I found that file were in the other theme folders, but I use the default.

So I am not able to copy text from JTextfield to other text editor in windows.
In Linux MouseDrag on Jtextfield data and paste in text editor also not able to paste data but MouseDrag on Jtextfield data and using center button of mouse(scroller) able to paste data on other text editor. Same thing is happening with double click and tab also. In windows it's working fine.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm running openSUSE 11.3 with GNOME. I went through the Software Manager and deleted every instance of OpenOffice.org that was left after changing to LibreOffice, and also installed Beagle (+dependencies) and Tracker with some additional packages. Then I noticed that in the Application Browser there is no text next to the icons. Only the small version of the icons centered with no text (screenshot below).
The problem is I have no idea how to restore it to the way it was. I've already deleted Beagle and Tracker and their packages to no avail. I also noticed that YaST and Control Center both look fine. It's only the Application Browser.
Does anyone know of a application that will use plain text, but allows the customizatino of width and lenth of the number of characters?
Looking to set my footprint to be 78 characters wide (by) 59 characters high.
