Fedora :: Final Steps In Getting A LAMP Dev Environment Running ?
Apr 27, 2010
I have tried everything and it has been 2 weeks of build time. I have Fedora 12, Apache 2.2, MySQL, and PHP installed on my computer. I have built a virtual host for Apache that works (for the most part). The virtual host references the directory "/home/username/public_html". When I put in my domain it goes to the right folder and accesses the files (permissions = 755). I sut down SELinux so that is not an issue.
Here is my problem: I can not get php to link to other php files called in the same folders or sub folders. The WebServer is telling me that the file does not exist. For instance, I have a login script that shows up on Index.php. This file is in "/code/login_script/login.php". In short I can access the file but when login.php tries to call login_check.php (the code that validates the user) I get a 404 error - file "can not be found" (despite being in the same directory as login.php and have the same permissios set both to the directories it is nested in and the file itself).
I wanted to start using Fedora as a segway to RHEL for a comany I an trying to build . . . but so far it has been nothing but road blocks. I can not get to the code part as I am configuring non stop.
I am trying to get wireless network with Dlink DWA 125 working unter Kubuntu 10.04 (kernel 2.6.32-23, 32-bit). I already carried out all the hacks for replacing the rt28** modules by rt3070, which seems a rather common issue. What I did is described here:[URL]..Now output of usb-devices is:
One rather silly question (excuse me, never used wireless before):Is the WPA key the 10 digit hex-number labeled "network key" on my hardware ? At least I entered this one under Windows and it worked instantly x( . Even if something is wrong here, I expected some error messages. I feel I got pretty close, but I still need some help for the last few steps. Please give me a tip what might help or how to get some useful error information.
All of the guides I could find online were from 2004 and they no longer work. someone create a step by step guide? I have Apache working, but PHP does not work.
I am installing Ilias 4.1.4 is the lastes stable version on a Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit server with all the dependencies satisfied.

Quote:
Fatal Error: ilInitialisation::initClientIniFile called without CLIENT_ID.
I start searching net for above error and do not get any useful information. After some time I press back button and accidentally reached

and see some sort of screen that asks for a client ID. How can I get rid of this error

I'm trying to control my media center via my netbook but when I ssh into the machine and do Code ...
So I guess the ssh session is trying to start an x session. Obviously I don't want another session but instead use the existing x session that the machine runs anyway (and on which Rhythmbox runs)
googling I found a similar bug for f12 but no solution or fix or anything...
sorry if this is such a noob question. I've never dealt with xsessions in that way...
I have installed ubuntu 9.10 server with LAMP and SAMBA I have also added FMS (Flash Media Server). LAMP and SAMBA are running fine but FMS doesn't have all its functionality, it cant stream rttp.I have read that their may be a port/ip conflict between apache and fms but was wondering if anyone else had the same issues as me. I have also installed FMS with apache2 on my XP laptop to get the httpd.conf file and see how its set up, here it is.FMS / APACHE2 XP

Is the new Ubuntu still running with Gnome as the desktop environment? I seem to remember hearing somewhere that it was something else - does that mean I could uninstall Gnome?
Anybody know of any Firefox 3.5 final RPMS for Fedora 10? I looked a rebuilding the Fedora 11 RPMS for Fedora 10, but the other packages requiring an upgrade as well is getting out of control.
I was using Fedora 12 beta release, now how to move away from raw-hide and start using fedora 12 Final repo and update it properly?
[Code]...
Edit: BTW , if i ran yum checkupdate,i start getting FC13 package listings, i see rawhide has already moved to FC13, good that i dont let yum auto-update.
I have tried to run Picasa 3 (beta) and version 2.7 in Fedora 15 installed from rpms and get the same results.
First of all - [gary@FedoraCore15 ~]$ uname -r 2.6.38.8-32.fc15.i686.PAE F15 is a fresh install, no preupgrade etc. Dual core processor, 6 gigs memory 2.5 TB
At first I got an SELinux alert, troubleshooter gave me three options. I followed the last option, I believe I set a policy for wine-preloader only to mmap low memory. These were the commands I got from the troubleshooter:
After this I got no errors from SELinux or anywhere else, but no Picasa. If I run Picasa from a terminal I get the following: [gary@FedoraCore15 ~]$ /usr/bin/picasa
SSH is initially installed and activated. What are the steps in activating FTP and Telnet on Fedora 10. I know they are non-secure and probably shouldn't be used at all, but I need to know or at least pointed in the right direction.
I need to start archiving my audio media again. However I use flac, and the monotony of having to use grip, and then go to easy tag is getting old. Is there a one stop program that will convert my audio cd's to flac and perform the id3 tag, with at most an approval on the tag from cddb or wherever it gets the info from? Grip states that it's id3 tagging only works with mp3's. I don't desire to use wine for this. Appreciate the help.
Btw: AMAZON.....if you'd sell flac instead of 128kbps and 256kbps I wouldn't have to do this....
update: Asunder appears to be working. Anyone here used Asunder and if so, any gripes? It appears to use capital letters and spaces though which I really don't like.

I downloaded jdk-6u11-linux-1586.bin for working java. I don't know whether I downloaded bin file is correct or not. If it is not correct means what type of file I download to install java. I request u to tell steps for install the java.
I have downloaded the linuxdcplus 1.0.3 source file. However i am unable to install the same in my fedora 11. could anyone guide me and all with detailed step by step instructions and the possible options?
I am relatively new to linux having only used ubuntu 9.10. Trouble is for all the talk of how secure ubuntu is, truth is it kept getting remote hacked (I have a stalker who is messing with me) over and over so now I am going to try fedora in hopes of finally having a secure system. My question is, what steps do I need to take to try to secure Fedora 12?
I have been searching around and found lots of details of how to fix a dual boot situation gone wrong but I have not run across a guide or steps on how to install Windows & FC12 the correct way.I have to reinstall my computer any way for other reasons so I am going to reinstall with either XP or Win7 (leaning towards 7) and Fedora 12. I can dedicate a drive to each OS no problem and I can imagine how I would install each on it's own drive, but not quite sure what to use as a boot manager?
I want to use yum to install LAMP with ssl. Is there a certain order I have to do that in? If I understand this right, yum gets its rpms from one repository. In order to maintain the rpms I will need to know the installation layout of each rpm. How will I find this information?
Also, can I tell yum to go to a certain place and get that rpm? For instance, I've been reading linux topia. Can I tell yum to get that mysql rpm?
Once mysql is installed, how do I start it and get into the client/monitor?
We've got to move a LAMP web application from a Red Hat box over to Cent OS. Actually it might wind up being a few applications. Basically are there any scary monsters to watch out for?
I will have some more details tomorrow morning as to exactly what we're moving and off of and on to what. The Cent OS installation I believe is 5ish. Red Hat could be a wildcard. <-It might be Red Hat, Red Hat Enterprise or Fedora
how to create a website using LAMP. Take completed website and port to a web server and run.
System I am currently running an HP Pavillion laptop 500G HD, 6G RAM, dual boot Fedora 10 and Vista.
Questions: How should I partition HD to allow functionality of LAMP and to later transfer to a online webserver.
I have read several different rational on partitioning the disk. Do I really need a /tmp, /var? Currently I have / /boot, /swap, /home, /usr. Is this okay to start? Will it make transferring the project more difficult for "official use?
Should I not use the laptop at all and create a separate machine for this purpose only?
