I just started using the z shell. i have one problem, what command clears z shells history? I know how to clear the .histfile: echo "" > .histfile, but when i press the up arrow key the last command is still there.
View 1 RepliesI have installed Squeeze with the Gnome desktop and the Totem Movie Player Application. It seems to work ok but it seem there is no way to delete the history. I found one post on the subject with no reply and have read the bug reports and the problem was not mentioned. I tried to find the file containing the history without success.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Clear 4G+ Mobile USB modem. It is a Sierra Wireless Air Card 250u. I was able to get a brief 3G connection out of the box, with Squeeze 6.0. I would be happy to at least get connection manager working, as it does in Windows XP.
Subsequent edit. I did a clean install of 6.0 Squeeze, and Clear USB modum worked right out of the box. All I had to do was, right click on Network Manager icon on upper right corner of screen, checked enable mobile broadband. clicked on edit connection info. There I manually entered Clear as my provider, checked on connect auto, and left other fields blank or default settings. I still only get 3G, but I have multiple barriers to a microwave signal in my location. But I still will continue and may need help as I configure Clears Connection Manager, and or firmware.

I am guessing I would have to locate firmware to make this device work in linux.
A friend has a website. the site has been moved to another server. I am inside of a private network.
Problem: when trying to reach his website, my browser keeps connecting to the old server which is on another continent
Windows machines have no problem with this. They connect to the new server without issues.
NOW what is hard to understand: even the PING utility is pinging the old server.
I tried these and none works:
- computer restart
- Clear private data in Iceweasel (has ntg to do with PING, but tried...)
- installed nscd and restarted the service
- modified /etc/resolv.conf to point to another nameserver than modified it back
At the same computer, if I reboot and load Windows, the browser has no problem connecting to the new server.

I have a public IP rest is on LAN.The main site is on public IP and want any request on site1.myserver.com to be redirected to internal LAN web server which will process the requests.
I am using a Debian Lenny and apache2.
In an earlier post on the forum I was able to configure Apache Reverse Proxy by changing apache2.conf the sites hosted at that time were

Now I have formatted my server and it is a fresh installation of Debian Lenny and apache2 on it so previous settings are not there.
This time I created two virtual hosts.There are two files in /etc/apache2/apache2.conf site1.[url]

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe package manager is scrambled in my Ubuntu 11.04. It started with the repositories list being scrambled with multiple entries. Now when the Package Manager is launched it just accesses the hard drive forever. I did give it a half an hour just in case so it clearly stuck in a loop of some kind.
What I'd like to know is: Is there some way to reset, clear, turn off or de-select the added Repositories list from the command line (terminal.) This seems to be the only way since the Package Manager gets stuck. Keep in mind that I'm only slightly competent with Linux and have no idea where the Debian Package Manager data is located or how it works. If I go poking around without at least some guidance I may make things worse.
The problem seems to be spreading. Got stuck again while saving this message. Turned off the system, rebooted to recovery mode and did a file system check. Okay for now. Switching to clean OS on other partition.
I'll check for answers there but it's only Ubuntu 10.04 and I'd very much prefer to have 11.04 working and not have an effectively dead partition and don't want to loose everything on it with a re-format and 2 day re-install process (no installation disk.)
