currently running debian lenny using the non free adobe flash plugin and have just tried watching an iplayer program and yet again, as with ubuntu and sabayon linux, every time it goes full screen after a few minutes the plugin crashes.
is this a debian compatability issue as i believe the other two distributions i tried before are also based on debian?
i like ..... and iplayer both of which need flash, is there a way to make it work? i know with videos i can use the html5 version but iplayer has no such option so for that i need flash to work
I've had a few different versions installed in Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit and now every so often, no rhyme or reason, flash crashes. Sometimes its in the middle of a video, I have no answer for whats causing this. I have the 64bit Square Flash installed at this time through the sevenmachines PPA.
For ages, I've been having problems getting my webcam to play with websites that use Flash. The cam works fine with programs like Camorama, but when I try to use it on a Flash site, Flash always crashes regardless of the browser used (Chrome, Firefox, Opera).
I used to use the workaround described here, but since upgrading to 11.04, even that doesn't work any more. I've tried installing the latest flash beta using the Firefox Flash-Aid plugin, to no effect.
i'm running on an i686 architecture with a 32-bit processor, and i'm using a fully updated firefox, more or less. i was able to install adobe flash 10 successfully, and i can load, manipulate, and access flash programs without incident. however, if i am running a flash program on one tab, and then in another tab i load another program (say an advertisement), the original program crashes.
why this is annoying:
i will listen to a song on videos, and open another tab to browse. a flash advertisement will crash the videos video. the video's viewing area turns white/gray and requires a refresh of the page - not a restart of the browser - to work properly. the only add-ons i installed are firebug and fireftp.
I have FC14 i686 on a IBM T42 laptop and installed adobe flash direct from adobe. Firefox seems to play ..... etc fine. However, if I try to use the flash photo uploader in facebook or flickr, it appears that the flash component crashses.
Firefox continues to run though - only flash crashes (the upload window disappears)

I'm only relatively new to ubuntu and am having a problem with firefox. There was an update waiting for me this morning to install some dummy package and since I've done that firefox falls down whenever I try to go to a page that requires flash. The screen turns grey and nothing happens.
With my limited knowledge (and inability to use any page that requires flash) I've tried to remove and re-install flash but nothing I do seems to work
i have a problem with adobe flash player. when i watch videos or blip.tv or other video streaming sites, my computer crashes randomly during the video. it stops responding, i can't use keyboard and mouse. the only way to recover is a hard reset.it happens in ff, opera, chromium and chrome. i had this problem on flash player 10 and on 11-beta i have it too.i running ubuntu 11.04 natty 64-bit. kernel: 2.6.38-11-generic. gnome 2.32.1. with unity.

So this just started a few days ago... maybe 7 at the most.
I am working along, and screen goes black, or just freezes... the lights on my laptop start blinking and becomes everything becomes unresponsive.
I have noticed it is usually when I am Using Firefox and Flash content. I have also noticed it happens when using Deluge, but it usually takes 5 minutes to kick in.
I am using firefox at the moment, but I am sure if I load up a ..... video, it will lock up on me again.
i have ubuntu 10 lts and have searched the forums and internet yet not resolved this issue so hope i`ve posted in the right place. i have installed, via the ubuntu software manager, the latest adobe flash as every browser i try crashes within at most ten minutes of trying to play a flash video full screen, usually within four minutes. i cannot play anything on bbc iplayer or videos fullscreen and i have no idea why. i have the latest flash plugin and have tried chromium, midori, firefox, opera, conkerer (not konqueror) and epiphany and every one crashes. tried firefox in safe mode and it still happens, opera just stops playing the video but all the other browsers crash except chromium which tells me the flash plugin stopped working. i really need it working and don`t want to have to return to windows just for flash so has any one an idea where i can start in solving it?
im needing to view a adobe flash crash report, or preferably watch the crash happen(in the code)
Ubuntu 11.04(up to date) flash plugin - v11,0,1,98 flash aid - adobe beta, from adobe labs Firefox - 6.0(according to the "about firefox")
i have installed and reinstalled both the flash player and flash aid is there a way to do this and how?the player works on some sites and not others is it possible that im up to date and there not?
Moved to linux as I was assured it was "uncrashable" but I seem to have managed it after only 2 days. Running ubuntu 9.10 and trying to download adobe flash player. I get an error message :- E: The package adobe-flashplugin needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it. E:Internal error opening cache (1). Please report.
Every time I close this window synaptic package manager also closes. When I try to download flash player directly from the adobe web page, synaptic refuses to cooperate. I am now stuck as I can't delete this or download anything else.Computer janitor won,t delete it either.Also when I go applications>ubuntu software centre, everything I try to download comes up with Not available in this critical data.I can see this is going to be a very steep learning curve.

I'm using a Debian lenny with kernel 2.6.26-2-686 without desktop and with splashy installed.
Inside /etc/rc2.d/ I've a link to launch a full screen opengl application (a game). After several minutes the X crash.
To try a little this issue, instead of launching my app, I tried to launch "xinit glxgears" using a link in /etc/rc2.d. After 5 reboots, the glxgears crashes 5 times with the same dmesg message.
If I uninstall splashy or instead of launching glxgears using a link in /etc/rc2.d I launch it from the console, the crash never happens.

My PC keeps crashing when copying files. The monitor displays the desktop, but the mouse doesn't move, nothing responds and I can't even ssh in to debug it.
This happens when copying files using nautilus and the command line. I'm trying to copy files from my local hard disk to an nfs drive which is mounted in my system and has been working fine for years.
how to debug this after a hard reboot?
This has only just started happening, last night was the first time.
I have a really weird problem, when I play any ..... video, gnome crashes. I've tried other similar services, and everything works just fine. As soon any ..... video starts, gui crashes, audio actually keeps on going and I get some weird picture on screen that keeps on blinking. I've tried searching around for a similar problem, but couldn't find anything. I tried looking in /var/log/messages, and tried looking into dmesh, kerneloops...but no luck.
After some recent upgrade of my Debian Testing i386, on ThinkPad T400s, I am receiving panic message upon Safely Remove Drive.When I insert external HDD, it is automatically detected and the partitions mounted and works perfectly well. But when I "Safely Remove" the disk, Debian freezes and hangs. Nothing works (mouse or keyboard), and even X crashes and I get frozen terminal.I never experienced anything similar
I did actualize yesterday my squeeze (and install a very little number of programs that I did see in synaptic during the procedure, especially concerning Braille etc. for blind persons; this did also install a new sound driver that I did not install before) and work all the day with it without problem
a day later Squeeze will not start again. a loud whistle sound begins at the end of the start procedure and the computer freeze completely. this happens also in the single user mode.SID starts. also is the computer ok. squeeze is on sda5 (ext3), home for squeeze is on sda7 (ext3) as a very very big partition (more than 300 GB, more than 180 GB occupied) sid is on sda6 (ext2) with his own home in sda6 what can I do to reverse the installations from yesterday if possible? if not, what can I do to only test if the personal settings files in /home/I on sda7 are good or contain bad values (in such a case a new installation would probably also crash and it would be non sens to install squeeze again!)?
what can I do to completely reinstall my squeeze but exactly with the same mixture of programs as yesterday before I did update or as it is now (hopping the programs are all ok and only my update did unfortunately don't reach the goal...)?or have you an other alternative good proposal? if all that can't not be done, what can I do to declare my home from Squeeze as home from Sid under full conservation of all good values from home from SID (because my SID partition is very very small, only an experimental installation...)
Qt apps like vlc, kolourpaint, qbittorrent are missing the windows controls like menus. Smplayer crash on opening a video(any format). I'm using mate with marco wm, I also tried openbox but is the same.
I'm using Squeeze and icedove and iceweasel and I've installed the package linux-image-2.6.36-2.dmz.2-liquorix-686. It works fine on my Dell 1521 Inspiron laptop with only one exception. If I'm surfing the web or checking my mail via a wired internet connection I'm fine... if I'm surfing the web or checking my mail via a wifi connection everything is fine... but if I happen to forget to connect to a wifi connection, and I'm in a situation where a wired connection is not available, I can start iceweasel (it doesn't do anything constructive), but checking my mail with icedove (simply starting the program) crashes my computer.
If I boot up with the 2.6.32-5 kernel, the one that's in the regular debian repository, I can not duplicate the crash. Somewhere I read that the liquorix kernels are optimized for a desktop computer. Is this my problem? Is it something else?
During the crash my screen goes to a text console and I see syslogd messages on the screen -- which I cannot reproduce here.
I have Virtualbox VM with Lenny and I made another hdd copying all files from old drive to new one. But root partition I made to be on LVM and all three partitions are now primary. After using Debian DVD and rescue mode to reinstall grub and reconfigure kernel, the system boots fine, but Xorg fails to start.
I'm using Debian-Squeeze, and the command "uname -a" results in "Linux debian 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Sat Jul 24 01:47:24 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux". The desktop environment is Gnome 2.30.2.
My problem is wireless connection causes the system to crash. Here is the detail: my university uses a WiFi service that we have to enter our ID and password in a certain web page in the browser to get access to the Internet, while the WiFi signal is automatically picked up. My laptop crashes each time I connecting to such wireless network. But back home, when connecting to my own WiFi, everything is all right.
As the only thing I can do when such crash happens is to press the power button to force the computer to shut down, I've gathered no more information till now.
I was wondering what is happening to my computer. It runs perfectly fine, until out of nowhere my CPU load goes up to 100% for no reason, and in the System Monitor, the process that I think is responsible is the "uninterruptible process". It's so far been chrome, firefox-bin, and now gnome-netstatus-applet.
Is this a hardware problem or buggy software? Because I honestly don't know what it is. I've even reinstalled the programs and rebooted several times, most of the reboots were because of my computer crashing every time!
I have a problem with Debian Squeeze. I have installed Squeeze and after that I installed LDAP according tho this guide: [URL]. When I log in and try to start Epiphany or Iceweasel nothing happens. I tried installing Chromium, but this program starts with the message "Chromium didn't shut down correctly". After some waiting it comes with another messages saying "Page(s) unresponsive. I also noticed that Open Office won't startup, other programs don't seem to have a problem.
I have a squeeze net install cd I downloaded and have used to install on two computers. Now I try to install on a third computer, install seems to go well, but when I try to run it, I get the message about 'driver' pcspkr already registered. Then CRASH. So, I wiped the HD and tried again; same result.
I figured the cd might have been corrupted so downloaded and burned another. This time I downloaded from a different mirror. Same result. I don't know what this pcspkr is all about; I don't even own any pc speakers. The computer on which this happens runs Lenny on another HD.
essentially everything runs well, but at random points the screen randomly flickers and looks like an application window outline. After I use the system for a while eventually the screen goes blank, but not off, but I am forced to shutdownhe system as nothing happens with key combos. I'd be happy to add more information, but I am need help on where to go to find information on the system
