I'm running Wheezy and I noticed that all of my recently used documents have disappeared. Does anyone know where they went / how to re-enable this feature? All it shows now is "No items found"

View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to clear 'recently used documents' within the kmenu nothing happens, i.e. the list is not cleared, until I reboot or log out and back in again. It's an old issue but thought I'd just ask if there are some fix for this. There is another small flaw on my system as well which is with refreshing the content displayed in a directory using dolphin (and possibly other file-viewers/apps). For instance, if I unpack a tar/rar/zip package I have to manually refresh dolphin for having it display the new extracted folder.

I have tried its mirror sites but it seems they had removed the old packages from Etch and earlier releases.
View 7 Replies View RelatedHow can I change the mountpoint of my partition /media/documents to /documents.This is a partition of sdb and a fixed disk.The reason is that /media/ sometimes creates ghostdirectories while /Windows/C never does so, programmes writing/reading from this partition therfore don't work if a ghostdir_ exists.(BTW Suse is on sdb5 and sdb6. on sda is windows and used to be Ubuntu, the Suse-swap is sda5. Windows is out of use.)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can access my windows my documentsmusic by mounting my windows drive and browsing to it. I can then playwatch my movies and pics in Ubuntu.But what I really want to be able to do is re-map the Ubunbu docs folder like so:
Ubuntu Pics = Windows My Documents pics.
Ubuntu Videos = Windows My Documents Videos.
I'm not very unix savy so I've been using Ubuntu tweak PersonalDefault Folder Locations setting and browsing to my Windows folders. But it doesn't work.I have managed to make a desktop 'short cut' and that works but I'd rather set the system wide default document folders.
When he saved doucuments in the opens source word processor as a MS Word document, he can't open it. Didn't had this problem until today.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed Ubuntu (/dev/sda7) and Debian (/dev/sda4), but since I have updated all informations on Ubuntu, then Debian did not appear anymore on the grub list. There is an wiki I have found, but I an not really sure about what to do.

ps: on this file, it says that the /boot is installed on the MBR and /dev/sda3. I will remove the boot from MBR as I am now using /dev/sda3 instead. Sorry for my english

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just booted up and was told to manually enter maintainence mode and run fsck which I done. Something came up about do I want to connect to lost+found: yes/no to which I entered yes and one other error was found which was fixed. When I rebooted again GNOME wouldn't start because it couldn't find the directory /var/lib/gdm. The services dbus, nfs-common and exum4 also failed to start. I can log in as root and use the command line OK, however the directory /var/lib has disappeared completely and this is affecting various packages.

So i opened synaptic and installed broadcom drivers for my wireless "broadcom-sta-common" & "broadcom-sta-source" & "firmware-brcm80211".
After I done that and restarted my laptop the wireless was gone from connection option and i cant get it back. My Wireless driver is "Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11bgn Wireless Network Adapter" ...
i recently had update, it worked fine but gimp disappeared. now if i try to install it in terminal it gives me this:

I noticed that the "Bookmarks" menu in Iceweasel was totally empty. I quit IW and started it again, and the problem persisted. I disabled all my addons, restarted again, and they were still gone. I tried to restore them (the backup copies are stored as JSON files in ~/.mozilla) from Bookmarks -> Organize -> Import -> Restore, but I got "unable to process the backup file" for each of the backups.

After installing my latest distro, Debian 6.0 WinXP disappeared from my GRUB menu!

Recently I installed Debuan "jessie". I previously had Windows 8.1 and Xubuntu installed. After installation Debian installed it's own version of GRUB, with entries for Debian, Xubuntu and Windows. The problem is that after I selected Windows when booting, GRUB menu no longer appears. It boots straight into Windows.
It's lenovo Ideapad z510 laptop, with special button that allows me to select between 4 options before booting - one of them is "Boot menu".
I didn't use it before windows "removed" GRUB, but now there are 2 options: Windows boot loader and Ubuntu. When I select Ubuntu it loads my old boot menu (from before installing Debian).
I thought that when I use update-grub from Xubuntu I will at least eb able to boot into debian. After I did that Debian option appeared in the GRUB menu, but it didn't work - black screen.
How to get GRUB menu working again (and avoid replacing it by windows boot loader)?
I just installed Jessie amd64 for the first time. Few problems so far, but Alt-F2 to Alt-F6 no longer switch to another tty - there's just a black screen with a flashing cursor that doesn't respond to keystrokes. I rely on being able to switch between ttys a lot, so this is inconvenient.
I've searched and found a workaround for grub2, but I'm using grub-legacy (and don't want to switch to grub-pc as it's over complicated IMO). Graphics hardware is AMD 780G/SB700 (using firmware in firmware-linux-nonfree).
I had some problems about a week ago with installing Python2.6-minimal (as an issue, it got resolved), however, after the problem was resolved, 'Add/Remove Applications' disappeared after upgrade was complete. I usually do not use this program for installing, etc., if I can help it, but do use it more often for web address reference when I am considering installing a new program, etc. Question is,is there some way to find out if it is merely lurking somewhere in my system... & then to once again add it to my menu list? Or, if that is not the case, to reinstall it via apt-get, aptitude, or some way like this? I could not find this application (or whatever it is called) in the Synaptic Package Manager.

I now no longer have any internet connection.I have tried the failsafe boots with no luck. I have tried the 2.6 kernels and have had no luck.I have tried to manually start the connections with no luck.I have booted off of a Squeeze Live CD and the connection works just fine.

apt-get install synaptic returned 0 installed 0 updated. I assume from this it is installed. There is no icon in 'application/system tools'. Is there something I might try? Is there a way to call this from terminal?

I have checked the system and apparently it is SoundMax Integrated Digital Sound that I have on board. I have tried lots of things to get it going but to no avail. I have the Debian CD's. Is there a chance that it might be on these and I could re-install it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running squeeze. The klipper icon has disappeared from the system tray and I can't figure out how to restore it. The service is running. Stopping and starting it has no effect. Changing the display options for the system tray has no effect. I can bring the klipper dialog up with Ctrl-Alt-V but there are no options available regarding the system tray.
It's obviously a user configuration issue since if I login as root the klipper icon is displayed. I tried to copy the klipper configuration file contents from root to user, but that also had no effect, except to alter some non-relevant options. I haven't been able to locate any other configuration files that might be relevant. This seems to be a not uncommon problem with klipper, but the causes seem to differ. I haven't found any solutions vi Google.
I'm running Debian Squeeze, and I have a gnome theme called "Moomex" installed. I have had it for a while and it has worked fine, until it suddenly stopped displaying menu scroll arrows (like for long bookmark menus in web browsers). I can still scroll, but in place of the arrows is a solid colored rectangle that clashes with my theme. I went searching and found my theme's arrow image files (see code below). I have no idea how these files are implemented into the theme display, so I don't know how to re-enable them. I tried reinstalling the theme, but it changed nothing. These arrows show up just fine in any other stock theme, and they were fine in this one too until they randomly disappeared.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI keep getting the same recently used applications when I log in. Even if I haven't used them recently. I'm noting this by the fact that googleearth and kcalc appear in the list and I haven't used either program in some time. If I start a program it shows up in the list but if I log out/in the list is back to the "old" list. Even if I right click and clear the recently used applications list they come back with the next login. The recently used documents seems to be functioning correctly. I'm sure the answer is check/delete something in ~/.kde4 but I have know idea what to check/delete.
