Debian Programming :: Correcting SRT File OCR Errors

Mar 2, 2012

I've generated some srt subtitle files using gocr from pgm files used in DVD's. The ocr program gets confused between lower case L and upper case i and sees them as the same thing. This results in words with capital i's in them instead of lower case L.

What is the best way to automate the correction without a spell checker? I tried sed, but it's difficult to tell between the i's that you want and those that need changing. I figured that any word that consists solely of capital i's is ok, e.g. Roman Numerals, but any capital i not at the beginning of a word needs changing.

Programming :: Correcting An SFTP Backup Gone Wrong?

Mar 23, 2010

I need a script that can undo a complete backed-up file system restructuring that took place after an upgrade to the latest version of SyncBackPro. Basically a windows machine running SyncBackPro runs a backup every morning to a SuSE 11.2 SFTP file server and after the monthly update of SyncBack I had some issues getting the existing profiles to run. Suffice it to say I did some tinkering and thought I reset the backup paths to their correct locale but the next day I found that the program took everything in the parent SFTP user directory on the SuSE server and did the backup in the main user directory.

Since the user directory is not the backup directory, SyncBackPro took all of the files in the normal user directories and moved them into versioned $SBV$ directories and inserted a unique 12-digit numerical value to the front of every file below ~/ in every directory (recursively). I found a program named krename to correct the renaming issue and it is still adding the ~3 million files to the rename structure (tests on smaller folders worked flawlessly) to correct the 100*********.'s that have been appended to the beginning of every file. My problem is that I need to take all files that have been moved into these $SBV$ directories and move them up one level to their original directory and then remove the $SBV$ directory after the move. I do have a little experience with bash/shell scripts as I have made and use them for extracting, timestamping and moving jobs that execute through TORQUE and G03 but fall far short of having a programming degree. Chemistry, now that's a different story...I have found another post which appears to move the files in a specified directory up one level but I need a solution that can search recursively for the $SBV$ folder and then move the files and delete the then empty $SBV$ folder. General :: Error-correcting Filesystem For Use With DVDs?

Jun 18, 2010

I occasionally need to burn about 1 Gbyte of files to a DVD, and transport them to a friend's house. It's really annoying to discover that some of the data is corrupt when I get there, due to a scratch on the DVD.I have tried copying the files to the DVD several times, creating a new directory for each set. It usually means at least one of every file is correct, but it's really annoying to have to verify every file is correct with md5sum or similar utility. What I want is a filesystem that will automatically give me the redundancy I want, even if it means I only get 1 Gbyte of storage space per DVD. When I read the files back, it will automatically fetch multiple copies of the file, and give me the correct data - sort of like the way RAID works, but with all of the data on the DVD. Does such a filesystem exist? Perhaps I could create three 1Gbyte partitions on my hard drive, mount them with raid, store the files, unmount the partitions, and then copy images of the partitions onto the DVD (mount them later with -o loop,ro options).

Debian Installation :: Errors On Boot: "fsck.ext2: No Such File"?

Jan 19, 2011

I've installed Debian Lenny from USB with the small 8MB netboot image. I only chose "Standard system" in Tasksel during install, to get a clean, minimal install. I also chose for LVM and a separate partition for /home. I have one 1.5TB SATA drive in this machine.

Now everything seems to install just fine, but when I reboot I get the following error:

fsck.ext2: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/sdb1

I get offered to enter a maintenance shell, or press CTRL-D to resume booting. When I do, the system boots fine and nothing seems wrong. But it is inconvenient, because I can't reboot the machine without physically going to it to press CTRL-D on the keyboard

I have googled for this error and it is mentioned on several forums, but they were all related to other things specific to their installs/machines.

(ps. the only slightly strange thing during install is that the Debian installer included my 1GB USB thumbdrive when it shows all the drives and the partitions before formatting. I removed the USB thumbdrive directly after install, but if I plug it in, I still get the error)

These are the errors during boot:
code....

I've only installed Debian on my laptops, which never had any problems.

Debian Programming :: No Such File Or Directory

Sep 18, 2015

I’m new to C programming so I wrote the following program to see if everything I needed to write programs with GCC and the standard C library was already installed. I am having issues in OS 10.10.5, where I am unable to build and compile some simple code, either using Xcode or Sublime text. I decided to install Linux Mint in Virtual Box to see if it would work.

Code: Select all#include <stdio.h>

}

For some reason, I'm getting the following error:

Debian Programming :: HTML5 - How To Include Another File

But this does not seem to be possible in HTML5. I am guessing that there is a way to do this, searching the web suggests object or embed, but these create a new page within my original page, which is not what I want.

Debian Programming :: Organize A Dictionary Text File?

I have converted the pdf into txt but is quite a bad result. So I need to reorganize a bit the txt.

I'm not a programmer, so I should need you write me a small script (python, sed, bash...) that if at the end of the line there is not a point then the line have to be joined with the following line. Sometimes happens that there is a point even in the middle of the line: in this case the line have to be splitted.

Once last thing: after the first word it's needed a TAB. I have appended a preview of the txt file.

Debian Programming :: Consolidate Several Lines Of CSV File With Firewall Rules

Oct 10, 2013

Consolidate several lines of a CSV file with firewall rules, in order to parse them easier?

I have a .csv file, which I created using an HTML export from a Check Point firewall. The objective is to have all the firewall configuration lines where a given host is present. I have to do this for a few hundred, manually is not a reasonable option. I'm going to write a simple Python script for this.

The problem is that the output from the Check Point firewall is complicated to work with. If a firewall rule works with several source or destination hosts, services or other configurations, instead of having them separated with a symbol other than a comma, I get a new line.

This prevents me from exporting the line where the host is present, since I would be missing info.

Let me show you an example, hostnames are modified, of course:

Debian Programming :: Searching For A List Of Strings In File With Python

So the idea is, take input.txt and search for each line in that file in another file, let's call it rules.txt.

So far, I've been able to do this, to search for individual strings:

Code: Select allimport re

shakes = open("output.csv", "r")

for line in shakes:
    if re.match("STRING", line):

How can I change this to input the strings to be searched from another file?

So far I haven't been able to.

Debian Programming :: Script To Execute String From Text File

Sep 24, 2014

I am having trouble writing a script that monitors a text file. When the file contains number 1 (or any other string that is not a command) it does nothing, but when it is something different from 1, it executes that command.

So, there are 2 files: monitor.mon - this is the file that will be checked constanlty; and test.sh - the script that does the job. The monitor.mon file will have its content modified by php. This means a web page will have a form where I input commands and writes does commands in the file. Test.sh will watch when the file's content changes from character 1 to a command, execute that command and write back a 1 so it will not execute it more times.

I tried combining while and if but with no success. Tried reading the file with cat and grep -e but it doesn't seem to recognize when content changes.

Debian Programming :: Check If Files Exists By Read Input From A File

Jul 27, 2013

I need a script that dose the following checks if files exists by read input from a file then compares them to the files listed in the directory if they don’t exists the script would report back which file dose not exists. I also need to format the output so that files are grouped in different groups, group A, B, and C and etc based on file name. I would like the output of that do not exists files to be sorted based on second number in the file name than group according. I understand some of the basics of bash scripting something along of the lines of a loop and if statements might do the trick. Below is what I have so far. I don’t car so much about the script reporting back the file exists I prefer to only know if the file is missing and is less than 3 days old. Problem is if a file dose not exists in the reports file the test compares against the wrong file.

Group A

Foo22000.tar.gz
Foo22010.tar.gz

Group B

foo25000.tar.gz
foo25100.tar.gz

Group C

foo26000.tar.gz
