I am using xfce in squeeze and I like xfce4-governor-plugin. But this package is missing in debian, pls can you add this plugin to squeeze repository. xfce4-governor-plugin_0.1.0 works in squezze very well.

I have issue with cpufreq frontend in LXDE, I cant change governor. I am in powerdev group. Maybe I dont have permission to change governor with this plugin. I am using Debian Squeeze. Please what can I do, I can change the gowernor: cpufreq-set -g ... , but I want to do that like normal user in cpufreq frontend in LXDE.

I installed Debian Squeeze (6) yesterday and noticed on the XFCE4 Setting Manager screen, there is no icon showing next to the Screensaver item. All other icons are present. Am I missing a file or package perhaps?

I found the link to the source at http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/pan...temload-plugin. I struggled all the way through making the package and installing the package using "installpkg". When I try to add the plugin to my panel I don't see it in the "Add New Items" window as I expected.
View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently I installed DEBIAN 6.0 amd64. Since then I have been unable to do netbanking (at least with linux) due to the missing 64bit java applet plugin, which does the authentication. I cannot get the 32bit plugin working with my browsers (epiphany, iceweasel).
Mozilla.org remmonds using a 32bit browser.
I then installed FIREFOX (32bit), however, it refuses to run : "unable to locate libgtk-x11..." to make it short: the library actually exists on my system (I located it), something else must be wrong.
My questions: will I be better off reinstalling the 32bit version of DEBIAN ? (or what about the possibility of a 64bit java applet plugin being released in near future- will this be wishful thinking or a realistic hope?) as a matter of fact, I have used the java applet since REDHAT version 5 or 6, a lot of years ago, so this plugin-trouble really takes me by surprise.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince I've made the switch to Systemd, I've been having various problems with LightDM.
The most interesting and frustrating problem is when I choose Shutdown or Restart from the XFCE4 shutdown menu, the XFCE4 session closes but then the lightDM greeter pops back up. The system doesn't even try to shut down.
Its as if restart and shutdown both act the same as the Logout button.
Im running XFCE4 4.12 (but same behaviour on 4.10). I have the latest LightDM and the latest Systemd.
I'm using the xfce4 desktop and I removed the default screensaver. The screen goes dim after 10 minutes and I was wanting to know if there is a config file where I can adjust the time.
Searching synaptic for "screensaver" shows xdg-utils installed which has xdg-sreensaver but I'm not sure if that is really the program that is dimming the screen. Anyway, I couldn't find a way to change the amount of time that it takes to do so.

Icon themes I put in ~/.icons don't show up, and the icons in /usr/share/icons are permission as such:

few days ago I upgraded amarok on my openSuSE 11.2 from amarok-2.3.1-1 to amarok-2.3.1-4 (with vendor change to OBS KDE:Backports obs://build.opensuse.org/KDE).Then I noticed that the lastfm service is not functioning. It was missing from the internet services as well. As if the plugin does not exist. Taking a look at the /usr/share/kde4/services I did not find any .desktop file that was referring to the lastfm service (as I found for magnitude or the other internet services in amarok). So I downgraded to 2.3.1-1 (vendor obs://build.opensuse.org/home:enzokiel).
After the downgrade I had the .desktop files, but still the lastfm plugin was not loaded. I checked the liblastfm and it was there:liblastfm.so -> liblastfm.so.0.3.1***ALAS*** it was the 0.3.1, not the 0.3.0 as it was required by the dependencies.A workaround I thought is to just make a symbolic link to the 0.3.1 with the name 0.3.0. So I did. And it worked. What didn't work is that when I upgraded back to amarok 2.3.1-4 the desktop files were still missing and so was the lastfm plugin from amarok internet services.
I share this for the following reasons:
1. Maybe other people have encountered the same problem, and this could save them time/effort
2. I don't know if I should open a bug report against this, or it is just a matter of how the package was compiled. I don't want to waste developer's time by investigating something that is not a bug, but a feature.__2a. I think this is an openSuSE specific problem, that is why I am posting it here.
3. Would the correct solution be a downgrade of both the liblastfm and amarok?
I recently upgrade from wheezy to jessie. I had a problem with the icons and solved it. Now when i place the xfce4-power-manager-plugin on the panel, the plugin is using more RAM than it needs. Currently its using 960 MiB. Yesterday it used about 3 GiB of RAM. It doesn't happen if the plugin is removed from panel.

This is about the Squeeze (0.2.3-8) archiver in Debian Squeeze. I may be missing a dependency, but is Squeeze incapable of opening files inside archives? I created a generic archive with "tar -cvf arxiv.tar file01.txt" and Squeeze segfaults when I try to double click to open the file (file01.txt) stored in the archive (arxiv.tar).
Also, after experimenting with Squeeze on the command line, it seems the "-n" option works, but results in an orphaned gui window; the "-x" option will only extract to a directory which already exists (which is o.k., but should be documented); and the "-d" option doesn't follow the general syntax in the man page "squeeze [OPTION...] [archive name]", which isn't bad, but sure does make it unnecessarily cumbersome to use, and also, the gui runs (blinks for a split section) for no clear reason. Now it would be silly to use command line squeeze over tar, but the man page for Squeeze begins with: "Squeeze - modern and advanced archive manager for Xfce".
I would like a gui archiver/extracter to use with Xfce4 without all the QA problems. Unless I'm doing something really wrong, this software doesn't seem to be ready for release at all, and the upstream version has not changed in a long time.
I want my computer to use the "ondemand" CPU frequency scaling governor when plugged in and switch to the "powersave" governor when running on battery power.

The disk does show up, but when I try mounting it, I get a pop up window telling me that :
Failed to mount "My_Passport". Not authorized to perform operation.
First of all - to refresh icon on desktop i've had to install gamin instead fam (after this, icons on desktop was refresh correctly). I don't know that have connection, but who knows. Anyway - my problem. Things marked as red are duplicated entries in menu. How to simple delete them? Menu are not refreshing too - i unmark "Inne" (Others) in alacarte, but it's still visible.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWhenever I unplug my laptop it gets slugishly slow, and I don't understand why. I noticed that when on battery I cannot by any means make the cpu work at its full speed (1.7Ghz) even with the performance governor; it always stays at 1.2Ghz. When unplugged from AC, cpufreq-info also tells me the speed can vary between 600MHz and 1.2Ghz, even though it reports the max hardware speed of 1.7Ghz. Besides, I have tested the laptop on AC power at 1.2GHz and it seems a whole lot faster than when on battery at the same speed. Are there any more "power-friendly" reductions in... say for example, graphics card? It would impact UI redesign significantly (and it sure as hell looks slow). How can I customize (or at least disable) these inconvenient cpu speed reductions?

When I try to add the Icon Box, Task List or several others to the panel, I get "Could not open 'iconbox' module".
There is an iconbox module in /usr/lib/xfce4/panel-plugins, along with some others, but they all date back to 3/29. In /usr/share/xfce4/panel-plugins, there is a mix of newer and older files.
Did the icon box go away? Do I need to nuke ~/.config/xfce4?
I'm using Slackware64 13.37 with Robby's Xfce 4.8 build on a laptop with two batteries. I've noticed that when the charge for one battery is depleted, the empty battery icon for the xfce4-power-manager panel applet is displayed as an "image missing" icon (see the attachments for screenshots of how this progresses).
Is this just down to a missing image, or is it more subtle than that? Has anyone else had the same problem, and if so how did you fix it? So far I've tried clearing the GTK+ icon cache and reinstalling the hicolor icon theme package as suggested in other threads in this forum, but nothing changed.

Sometimes instead of "cpio: open" it was "cpio: rename". There were a total of 18 such errors. These were listed as failures in the summary at the end. I installed the xfce4-quicklauncher plugin from a tar file in Slackware 13.37. It is showing as installed in gslapt, but it is not showing in the xfce panel's "Add New Items" menu. (see attached images) I tried rebooting and a few google searches. What must I do to get the xfce4-quicklauncher plug-in to appear in the xfce panel's "add New Items" menu?
