View 1 Replies View RelatedI know a bunch of commands and I am comfortable using the terminal, I even set a powerpc server but I can't figure out how to remove epiphany on this new computer I'm setting up. I didn't install anything with tasksel. I installed gnome and xorg afterwards... I load it up and 'startx' just fine. then I check around for the programs that were installed. I lik'em gimp, lot's of utilities. gedit. anyway I find epiphany, which I have already established that I dislike, I immediately go to the root terminal (another nice program that comes with gnome) and type apt-get remove epiphany-browser-data the output says it will be deleting gnome... however I have researched and found these are simpy meta packages that don't really matter.... however under the section that states all the packages that will be removed by autoremove there is a huge list... I doubt these packages are safe to remove. how to remove epiphany without removing a huge amount of probably needed software

Package flash-plugin-10.0.42.34-release.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
But I am not able to see it in the plugins list, when I goto Tool >> add-ons >> plugins. I tried about login in the browser address bar, got the list, but its a lot of details, which one would tell me that the adobe flash player is installed. Later I downloaded the tar file and unzipped it and manually placed the .so file in the plugin folder as mentioned in the forums, but no luck.
Some inquiries regarding my Flash Player Plugin.
Setup: Ubuntu 10.04 (Fresh Clean Install) AMD64 Desktop - Using Firefox 3.6.9 with Flash Player Plugin
Problem: I can watch videos but cannot interface with the plugin. I.E. I cannot change volume, fullscreen, progress bar adjust, etc.
After researching for many How To's and install scripts I finally came across one that worked for my particular setup:
I got the script from the following link:
This installed successfully and I can watch videos but cannot interface with the plugin. I.E. I cannot change volume, fullscreen, progress bar adjust, etc.
I read that changes are in progress to update the 64 bit Flash Plugin for Mozilla, could this be a bug people have reported?

Openoffice:3.2.1.3-1.1
Zotero 2.0.3
Zotero OO plugin: 3.0.7a
Java: 1.6.0.u20-0.1.1
The paths of the plugin are set to:
Java UNO path: file:///usr/lib64/ooo3/basis3.2/ure-link/share/java/

Zotero OpenOffice Integration could not communicate with OpenOffice.org because the soffice executable directory specified in the Zotero OpenOffice Integration preferences does not contain a "soffice" file. See the Zotero word processor plugin troubleshooting page for information on how to locate the appropriate directory.
The zotero page does not give a great deal of help. Did somebody make this plugin work with OpenOffice in OpenSuse? Especially: are the paths indicated correct?

I want to remove GDM altogether, naturally I tried:
sudo apt-get --purge remove gdm3
But it appears to be taking some lower level gnome libraries down with it. As soon as it's removed, I can no longer start gedit or gnome terminal for example. If either is run from the terminal, I see, "Cannot display" or something along those lines. I end up reinstalling gdm3 and everything works perfectly.I already used update-rc to stop the gdm daemon from booting altogether, I just want to remove it now for a greater sense of cleanliness I guess.

From MS-Word, there are certain graphics that one can create that feature linked boxes of text (I think they're referred to as smart graphics, or something). There's another MS program called visio that also creates these type of graphics. When I tried to open a docx file that had one of these graphics in it with openoffice.org (I'm using version 3.1 from debian backports on my lenny system), it was unable to read it. Is there a plugin or filter that I can add to openoffice.org to give it this functionality? If not, is there another program that reads these files?
