After a password reset the problem persists and I am still able to log in to spotify's windows version under wine. I'm running sportify free and and I am wondering if the Linux client needs to have a spotify premium accont to work
View 5 Repliesi have a problem with both spotify and teamviewer. Both of them work just fine but when i close the main window they keep going in background (as they should) but, not showing any tray icon, if i want to close them i have to manually kill them in a terminal. For teamviewer there's an option to choose to completely close the program by closing the windows but i would like to have the possibility of having the app working in background with a tray icon!!!
Spotify gave me the same problem but i read on spotify community that is a bug of the current version. Still i'd like to solve the problem with teamviewer.I had a similar problem with skype and i solved getting a plugin from https://extensions.gnome.org/ but for teamviewer i don't see anything similar...

I'm struggling to get the native Spotify on Ubuntu 10.10 working. I haven't tried it on any other version so I'm not sure if it's exclusive to 10.10.
Basically, the application loads fine, until I hover over to the left-hand side bar (playlists etc), at which point it crashes and *poof* instantly closes down.

how to use Spotify with my USB DAC. In MOC, Audacious etc it works great because I can configure what soundcard to use. Spotify only uses my laptops internal soundcard. Anybody have an idea how I can solve this?

I have Ubuntu 10.10, I run spotify through wine, but i receive the message saying can't play the music. I already ticked only ALSA, only OSS, both, I followed the other instructions for the audio tab ( Emulation, 44100 and 16 ), I reinstalled it as well, but nothing to do.
Basically as it says in the title. The second to last update about 6 or 7 weeks ago broke Spotify native. I get the following error message in the terminal:

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe latest version of Spotify incorporates a social networking part, which allows you to connect with your friends to share playlists etc. However, accessing this feature using Ubuntu and running Spotify with Wine isn't the easiest thing to do. Regular Spotify works well, but I cannot login to my Facebook account. Apparantly, this is due to that part of Spotify using IE7 components.
I couldn't get past the diaglogue box asking me to enter usr/pass, but after some googling I got IE7 support for Wine running using Winetricks. Now I can log in, but I get stuck at another point: the window where I'm to accept that Spotify accesses my private information. I click OK but then it just stands still, loading, and nothing happens. I know the new version just came out, how to fix it? Perhaps adding some other stuff with Winetricks beside IE7 support?
I've been trying to get Spotify running in wine on Maverick. I've had this running on older versions of Ubuntu in the past, but now it's not working. Spotify loads up fine, but as soon as I try to play some audio it crashes. When running it from the terminal I get the folowing backtrace:

I recently bought a new notebook, an Asus N73JQ. This notebook has a special sound system called "Bang & Olufsen ICEpower". The first thing I did was to install Ubuntu 64-bit. After installing and rebooting I am certain that i heard the Ubuntu login sound but ten minutes later when i tried playing music with Spotify all sound was gone. The login sound now gone too. I have tried editing settings in System -> Preferences -> Sound, with no luck. The settings dialog lists two sound devices, "Internal Audio Analog Stereo" and "HDA NVidia Digital Stereo (HDMI)". Sound output device is set to the Internal Analog ** device. I have tried different profiles for this device but nothing seems to work. Does anyone here have the same notebook/sound system with a working sound configuration?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a monthful of Spotify Premium to enjoy music at the school with my laptop and Nokia E71 with the offline mode - the WiFi at our school is too laggy to stream online music. Under wine, it works quite fine, however, I would totally like to use the native client (yes, I'm too a "yay linux" person like all of you here ), but the music quality is very poor on offline mode. It clips, goes forward, a second back, then back forward etc. The bitrate sounds to be high, an the quality is very good except the annoying clipping.
Anyone else experiencing this? I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 Beta release with Samsung N510 so the cpu power should not be an issue even though the native client uses the resources very greedily. Interesting enough, on my desktop computer (Core2Quad @ 3,3GHz, 4GB 900MHz DDR2 RAM) with the same OS version and software plays offline playlists smoothly (only some occasional clipping)
I am running Debian testing on my box and iceweasel 5 with several addons. My question is the following: is there a way to export above all my addons settings to a file? I would like to be able to install on another debian machine the same iceweasel 5 and have the same addons installed (if I could have even the same toolbar it would be dream) automatically.

so I have vlc 1.0.4 and when I try to play .flv files they won't load and when I try to play .mp4 files they play but after 1 or 2 vidoes there is no sound at all. I can get sound form other applications such as amsn and ice weasel when it happens
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a customized XP installation disk created for my company. However, my office does not require several of the applications that are installed by default. Also, some configuration settings are incorrect. I have extracted the XP installation files and can perform an install using those files from a running system, but I cannot boot from the CD.
I have tried just about every suggestion I can find on the net except purchasing a third-party burning application to do this. I tried burning both CDs and DVDs using floppy boot images, but XP will not install in a "DOS environment". I've also tried ripping the boot sector directly from a bootable CD/DVD and using that without success. Finally, I ripped ISO images and tried ripping the boot sector from those, also without success. I've also tried various file system type settings in K3b, including Joliet, Linux/Windows, UDF, and DOS compatible, all without success. Surely there must be a way to do this?
PS--I tried posting this to the K3b mailing list first but was rejected, even after creating an account with Sourceforge!? Didn't want to have to submit a support request just to submit a support request.
I am on Squeeze I just updated with a new kernel 32-5-686. I have installed the Nvidia driver with kernel 32-3-686. After the update I can't log with kernel 32-5-686. I tried installing another Nvidia driver but I ran into some trouble. This is the first time I am doing this. how to go by and install an Nvidia driver with the new kernel. Should I remove the old driver first? If I do this I won't be able to log into the system using the old kernel from which I am typing this message.

It seems that mojosetup is an open software included for all recent GOG games, but maybe it can't run on Debian ? Or could it be more a directory issue ?
I have several lectures from a class that were distributed as .pps files. When I try to open them with Impress, the slide show immediately starts playing. When the end of the slide show is reached, Impress closes. So, I have no way of looking at these slide shows in the editing window (which is what I need to do). I have tried opening these presentations both from the command line, and by starting Impress then selecting File > Open.
Once the presentation starts, I can switch to the editing window, but essentially all buttons and menu items are "grayed out": [URL] I can't even save the presentation as a native OOffice type.
I get this error when I try and mount a WD Passport external hard drive. Has anyone run into this before?

I recently updated my Squeeze installation to testing and since then I've been unable to use VDPAU with SMPlayer and MPLayer. When VDPAU is enabled every video file gives the same error (see log at the end; don't mind the extra channel entries, they're for converting AAC to AC3 on-the-fly). Before this everything worked as it should.

For some time now I have been unable to update flashplugin. I have been waiting the problem to fix itself, but no.

I have tried to use the extensions toggle-touchpad and touchpad-indicator that claim to be able to do this, but neither will load properly. They show up with a little exclamation-point-triangle in the "Tweaks" panel saying "Error loading extension". How to get Jessie gnome system succeeded in getting their touchpad disabled via a simpe toggle mechanism?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running squeeze on a PC 1386 and installed nvidia by using the packages in unstable. I was able to install nvidia and there was no error until the time I started X. The error is unable to load module "nvidia" (module does not exist, 0).
I looked up the log for Xorg and it says Unloadable Module "nvidia".
I spent the entire 24 hours to fix it because this is my office computer and I practically done all the stuff found in the forums. I already did nvidia-xconfig to no avail. I even edited xorg.conf manually and still it was not up.
I have some suspects however which are:
1. Different versions between kernel and nvidia (but since I did it the debian way then I should not have any problems).
2. Nvidia-glx is unusable in Squeeze, so does it mean I go for the unstable distro?
3. Or I miss something crucial on how I installed it?
By the way, I installed Nvidia because I am using a SAMSUNG 21' LED monitor.
I have a Dell D620 and I can't use any screensavers. Rather, no screensavers work. Just for giggles, I booted a Kubuntu 11.04 CD, updated the sources.list, installed rss-glx and was able to use the rss-glx and other opengl screensavers. The reason I say opengl is because those are the ones that I use but no screensavers work.
