I have a sony x10mini and it is correctly seen in nautilus and shotwell. But nor in banshee 1.6 (testing and sid) nor in 1.9 (experimental) is mounted. Fact is that I know it works for sure in fedora and debian so I wonder if it a problem of some dependency missing, configuration or permissions. I use the testing distro by the way...
View 11 RepliesI used to be able to sync my music with HTC Hero and Banshee, but when I upgraded to 2.1 quite a while back banshee seems to crash. I now have a Nexus One (Android 2.2) and that does the same. (no longer have the Hero). They both seem to crash Banshee when it gets to syncing the playlists (every time), music syncs fine. Does anyone else on 2.1 or 2.2 have this problem or is it just me? (been doing searches every now and then since the Hero update but cant find anything).

I'd like to copy podcasts to my android phone through Banshee, but when I set it up to sync entire library, it tries to copy them, and some do work, but I get a bunch of errors for each podcast that say "permission denied." (see screen shot)
I'm not sure how I would go about enabling that permission, or if permitting Banshee to operate with root privileges would solve the problem.
Music, by the way, copies just fine, and the phone is detected wonderfully (it's an Incredible 2, by the way.)
Since upgrading to 11.04 I have come across an issue when syncing my music to my Motorola Defy mobile phone. I have a large collection of music, the vast majority of which is ripped from CD and stored in FLAC format. I use Banshee to sync some music onto my phone by dragging and dropping. Banshee converts FLAC on-the-fly to OGG prior to copying the file to my phone.
Since installing Ubuntu 11.04 any songs that i have since synced appear to be cut short. The files seem to be of about the correct size, when the music player starts playing the track it shows the correct total length of the song in the timeline bar but the songs get cut short, usually at 5 seconds into the song but a few seem to last about a minute before skipping to the next.
This morning I tried converting files using Sound Converter and setting the Music folder on my Defy's SD Card as the destination folder. The files all appear to be of the right size, show the correct track length but only play the first 4 or five seconds. I used my other computer, also running Ubuntu 11.04, to transfer a few files and these work just fine.
Trying to use banshee to import music into Creative zen mp3 players but a pop up says 'import to library is not implemented for MTP devices yet'. Anyone know how to fix this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new smartphone with Cyanogenmod 12 (based on Android 5) and a new ext SD card in the phone which has been formatted. I turned on "USB debugging" in Android and connected the phone to Debian KDE with a USB cable. The phone shows up and mounts, and I can browse the files in Dolphin and copy from the phone to the desktop, but I can't copy from desktop to phone or modify the contents, even on the ext SD card. In Dolphin I always get the same error message, "writing to camera is not supported", even though I mounted the device as MTP* (not PTP) and even though I'm trying to write to the ext SD card which is not even where the phone camera stores things.
I chose to mount as MTP within Android. I don't know if I also need choose an MTP option within KDE somehow, or how to do that.
Since I use openbox with some packages from Xfce4 (mainly for convenience) I get most stuff "for free" as it were when using openbox, but I can't figure out how to mount android devices in a simple way. I can either do it manually, or install some other file manager that has this capability. This leads me to my question, I've noticed that if I install Nautilus, which automatically mounts android devices OotB, I get this functionality in Thunar as well. This leads me to believe that there is clearly a dependency package of some kind installed when running apt-get install nautilus that enables it, It'd be great to get this functionality in Thunar without having all the nautilus packages just littering about for no good reason. the required package is gvfs-backends, which I should have realized when I was unable to browse smb:// addresses. You forget a lot when you only make a fresh install once every 2 years or so.

However, I'm interested in finding out how openSUSE recognises what devices are mounted? Because the device manager in the task bar doesn't recognise that it's mounted... Dolphin doesn't recognise it and neither does Amarok. Only gtkpod, which is good, but I want other applications to recognise it. Do I need to mount it in a specific location? Currently it's at /mnt/iPhone. Or do I need something in fstab (I'm just guessing here).

It had no music player, but I could play ogg files and the sound was OK.
Then I installed Banshee and (which installed some more packages). Now the sound is gone.
I installed Debian on my Asus EEE 1015P netbook.
I have 3 disks in my PC which are partitioned equally as I use them for Raid 1.The first partition on every disk is a simple ext2 partition for booting. No Raid there. So I mount them as /boot and /boot2 and /boot3. So I can backup my /boot to the other boot directories. That worked for some month and this morning I just want to look if all directories have enough free space left. So I did a df -h and got this:

When booting opensuse 11.2 or 11.3 there is automatically created a folder in /media to mount my external usb drive (in /media/disk). The problem I have is that sometimes these folders are not automatically removed when I shut down. On the next time boot this device is mounted at /media/disk-1 or /media/disk-2 which throws off for instance Krusader or Amarok. Also the folders that are not removed seem to have really strong permissions such that I can't even browse into them in Krusader or Dolphin. I have to manually clean the /media folder as super user so that when I reboot, they are in /media/disk. Does anyone know how to ensure that opensuse removes the folder(s) upon shutdown?

SO, my USB mouse and keyboard no longer mount on boot. If I unplug the keyboard and mouse, then re-insert them, they work fine.
Sometimes when I try to display the mounted device in linux it displays devices which are not currently mounted. I want to correct this this using script.

I re-installed 10.10 over 10.04 by formatting the root partition but keeping the home partition the same, to save me a lot of work. having my data backed up properly, but it's also in different places (e.g. photos and music on separate flash drives), so I have a few rsync's that I can execute manually, drives are mounted. Unfortunately, it gets confusing very quickly, I'd like a simple bash script that goes something like this (this pseudo-code would be most like REXX):

I've encountered this problem twice. Sometimes Phonon is listing so many devices like this: [URL] ....
Usually there are just two devices like this: [URL] ....
When there are so many devices listed the volume control by using volume keys is different. It's usually up or down by 5%, but if the condition is like that the volume not up or down by 5%.
I've never encountered this kind of problem in other KDE distros. I'm using Jessie.
On a fresh install of squeeze (with the exception of some installed video firmware and the latest updates from the repos) from the kde cd.
System is running an ASUS Sk8V motherboard with onboard sound, also a SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card. Speakers are plugged into the sound card.
Sound worked fine before in Lenny except I had to create /etc/modprobe.d/sound with the following to get the system to prioritize the SB card over the onboard audio
options snd-emu10k1 index=0
options snd-via82xx index=1
I've done the same with the new install, and still no audio.
I followed the troubleshooting steps from the FAQ forum, but am stuck on the end, which suggests doing the following:
The following string needs to be added to the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf file
options snd-hda-intel model=YOUR_MODEL
I'm having some problems with banshee that started about 6 months ago. Banshee remains idle and does not play any type of music file. I've tried installing and selectively installing Gstreamer codecs with no success. I'm running stretch.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi am trying to prevent Gnome from automounting my NTFS partition. Gnome uses for this package gvfs-mount. This package with other small one's is respnsible for automounting USB changeable media like USB sticks. That works fine for me. But I don't want Gnome mount my NTFS partition on my internal storage device, where Debian Squeeze is installed too. Since Squeeze Gnome works with gvfs-mount to bind smb, ftp NTFS in. For binding a whole NTFS partition I am guessing Gnome use ntfs-3g as well. But I don't know exactly. Is there any possibility to adjust Gnome to automatically mount ONLY USB devices?

My trackpad also does not work so I have to open documents manually if I don't bring my mouse to class.
I installed everything and am running android OS on Ubuntu (using androidphonedriver guide). The problem I'm having now is that I don't know how to install android market application to be able to install other apps like opera etc.).

As nobody has a xvid or vlc player on the droid (yet.. coders are doing alot for Android ya know) I will have to convert the video down and change the format..
