I have a Logitech G11 keyboard with additional function keys from G1 to G18 and I added those keys to my XKeysymDB and ~/.xmodmaprc accordingly. According to xev, all those keys are working properly, eg.:

Now, if I try to bind any of those keys to global shortcuts in KDE I got a dialog telling: "The key you just pressed is not supported by Qt." these keys were working perfectly well in Lenny and KDE 3.5. I did some research, and it really seems that this is a some kind of "feature" in KDE 4.2 or Qt. So, is there any way to fix this easily in Squeeze without switching to Wheezy or even Sid?

One site had links to some sort of drivers, but the pages are invalid and wont load. Is there any software/drivers that can enable me to use VMC on my 64bit machine or must I continue having to revert back to windows? If so could someone please add links?

It then says an automatic fsck failed and a manual fsck must be performed, then the system restarted. I have done a manual fsck and it did nothing. I booted up the system with knoppix and did it, nothing.
I recently switched from windows xp to ubuntu and have been very impressed so far. However, I've run into a bit of a problem. My laptop has a switch on the side that enables or disables the wireless card and every now and again its inevitable that someone accidentally switches it off. I have bunch of partitions on my Debian server installation, so I was experimenting with partitions and saw that is one partition fails fsck on booting time, system waits for root password or CTRL+D key combination. The problem is that my Debian machine is headless and I use only SSH to it. So if fsck fails, I can't to login to SSH (off course, because it is not loaded at this time). So I need to go with monitor and keyboard to machine and press CTRL+D.One option is to disable disk checking at startup by changing fstab file. I don't like this option. Is there any possibility to auto continue booting Debian machine ?

E.g. the "XF86Calculator"-key starting "kcalc" as a default for all users without everyone being forced to deal with the absolutely messy and un-intuitive KDE hotkey configuration. Is there a way to do that? Preferably something like an "*.desktop"-file in /usr/local in order to be consistent with the rest of the system.

I have a ~/.gconf/apps/gnote directory, but no files to set the individual keybindings. The keybindings work and can be set from within gnote, so i know they have to be somewhere on my system. Anyone have any ideas where I might look? I'm using Openbox on a Karmic command line install. I have no gconf-editor, and gnote looks to be the only program installed that uses gconf.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI actually like some aspects of the global menu, but the reality is that a better solution for non-maximized windows is to just have the menu in the titlebar, and have title hide when you hover over it to reveal the menu, just like it does for maximized windows. You aren't losing any screen space with this solution.Having to click on a window, then go all the way back to the top left of the screen is hardly a convenience, especially when using a touchpad.
