View 9 RepliesI just updated to Calibre version 0.7.44 in Debian testing, on an amd64 system. Conversion worked with previous version, but now Calibre freezes as soon as I choose convert individual book. When I run top, I see that python is taking 100% of the cpu. The only way to stop calibre, which shows a grey screen, is to kill python. I got this message in the terminal after it shuts down;
[Code]...
If there is not way to fix this, Is there a way I can just reinstall the previous version of Calibre, even though only the new version is listed when I check in synaptic?
I want to install Eclips program from "Add/Remove Application" in Administration menu!I see this message and I click on 'Enable' button and I am connect to the Internet at the same time.But Eclips program did not install.This problem is for all programs , means my "Add/Remove Application" does not work properly

This question arose when I had a g++ compilation error: error: expected constructor, destructor, or type conversion before '.' token The above message can be correctly displayed in urxvt or xterm. But in mrxvt the '.' part can't be displayed correctly. Then I noticed that the quote signs are actually different from the usual ones and there seems no way to type ' ' from the keyboard. What are the differences and how to make mrxvt to display ' ' correctly. I found mrxvt very good and easy to configure.

View 7 Replies View RelatedIs there a way I can install a windows program to webspace and run it from a linux client computer? To specify, I'm a student at the University of Minnesota. I have access to linux machines running Ubuntu, however, the space allocated to us is too small for the program I would like to run on these computers. I do have webspace I can use though. The thing I'd like to be running on the linux computers is a windows application requiring installation. So is there a way to put/install/(whatever else it might be called) this program onto my webspace and be able to run it from the linux computers? I know it's probably unlikely, but maybe?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just bought a Prestigio Libretto Per3362b Ebook Reader from Amazon. According to the instruction sent with it I am supposed to connect it to a computer via a usb port and to press the power button to turn on/off the device. It is supposed to take 12 hours for the first time. These instructions make no sense to me (do I turn it on or off and how do I know if it's on or off?) and pushing the button seems to have no visible effect on the reader (no lights go on, etc.). Charging the thing for 12 hours has no obvious effect. Can anyone walk me through the initial charging operation?
View 4 Replies View RelatedReading and revising LaTex 20-page documents seems to be much more easier with a printout (hardcopy) then reading them off a screen. However, I cannot edit the document in real-time (just scrabble comments on the paper) which is cumbersome.
So it there a tablet or even better an ebook device (with e-ink which is easier on the eyes) where I can read document similarly to a printout and edit them in real-time?
I have a text file of a book I want to read on an ereader. The problem is that within the file there are page numbers and headers that make it look like this: Code: But then, getting into the heat of the work, 580 ANNA KARENINA and seeing how diligently and zealously Veslovsky pulled the cart by the splash-board, so that he even broke it off... o as you can see the header and page numbers break up sentences which makes it annoying to read.
I managed to use the find a replace tool in VIM to remove the page numbers and the header and join the lines together (If anyone is interested how I did it, let me know and I can post this. Although I admit that I probably did it in a very convoluted way). So now it looks like this:
Code: But then, getting into the heat of the work, seeing how diligently and zealously Veslovsky pulled the cart by the splash-board, so that he even broke it off... But now it has joined some lines I didn't want joined (ie lines where a page break fell at the same place as a paragraph break). So some parts look like this (the XI being the number of the next section):
Code: 'A fine marsh! Veslovsky must have hampered you. It's inconvenient for two with one dog,' said Stepan Arkadyich, softening his triumph.XI When Levin and Stepan Arkadyich came to the cottage of the muzhik with whom Levin always stayed... My question is: is there a way to use an if statement or something to ensure that it formats the book correctly. For example, could I get vim (or something else for that matter) to check to see whether the line ends with a period or a quotation mark, and next line begins with a capital letter or another quotation mark and exempt those lines from the join command?
Is it possible to add a menu option to allow me to open a program as root from inside the application browser window? In windows if you hold ctrl and right click a program icon your given the option to "run as" (windows equivalent of sudo). Is there a way to get something like that in the application browser in gnome?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn 2003 I converted over 25000 of invalid WAV files to MP3 ones using the sequence of commands:sox file.wav file.cdr lame file.cdr file.mp3.I used that intermediate method because it wasn't possible to convert most of these WAV files using lame only. The command lame file.wav file.mp3 displayed in such cases the message:Code: Unsupported data format: 0x0002.Now I tried to convert the same WAV files using the same method but lame doesn't recognize CDR audio format and complains:
Now I wonder how to achieve the same result enabling CDR audio format reading in lame because I prefer the second method. Unfortunately I haven't idea how to enable that during the configuration of the sources of lame. Its documentation doesn't mention about such switch.
or any conversion I suppose. My question is simple: How do I use this command: mplayer -ao pcm *.m4a -ao pcm:file="*.mp3" to convert whole directories and place the converted tracks into another directory. The way it's listed above it will convert all songs with a .mp4 extension into a single file with a .mp3 extension. Which of course, is not what I want, but I know of no other way to use this command.

Also, which is better, is/are there any image viewer package that would help show the .eps files as .jpg files? I have tried, gthumb, gqview, f-spot, image magic (display).
