CentOS 5 :: Cannot Seem To Find Libcrypto.so.7 File To Download Anywhere
Jul 27, 2009I need to install mysecureshell and when I try and do the rpm manager informs me that I need to install libcrypto.so.7. I cannot seem to find this file to download anywhere. How can I get it?

May 22, 2010I've desperately been trying to find a download manager for premium rapidshare download and Downloader For X seems to be the most popular solution around. I've tried DTA and Flashgot, they do the trick but not exactly a Flashget (Windows) equivalent.In Downloader For X, I can't get to download anything because of the additional slashes and numbers and stuff. For example, the URL [URL] becomes [URL]I checked the forums and it seems I'm not alone. There is even a working solution [URL]but the date is quite old (I'm using Lucid) and I couldn't find the main/addr.cc file .

I have had to play around with formatting using gparted.
I very recently acquired a server unit with a pentium II 200Mhz and I would like to LEARN linux. Thru careful research I have figured out that Slack is the best OS for those who want to learn the in's and out's. Feb 3, 2010It sounds weird but on Linux I can't find a browser that allows to set a download speed limit. I found an extension for Firefox but it works only on Windows. I know the existence of download managers like d4x, wget, jdownloader, etc... but some downloads can only be done by browser. I know trickle too but if I want to change the speed limit I have to 'restart' the command (interrupting the current download). Then I didn't find an extension for Chromium.

In much simple words the download/upload speed that vuze shows appears to be less than that shown by the network monitor tool.I must mention that at the time vuze was running there was no other simultaneous downloads.I don't understand why this is so?Is there any tool that can give me the exact information of downloading & uploading speed or rather any tool that can give me the details of uploads/downloads presently going on.

Nov 10, 2009I just upgraded by box from Fedora Core 9 to Centos 5.2. Finally!I have a 500GB SATA drive, it's partitioned into three equal size slices, hda1 through 3. The old Fedora was on hda1, I installed the new Centos on hda3. I instructed the installer to write the MBR to /dev/hda, not /dev/hda3. Fdisk says I have sector 0 unused.First, the system wouldn't boot - it just looped through the BIOS, rebooting over and over again. The BIOS sees the disk, but it never loaded Grub. I tried re-running grub-install /dev/hda, and not I get a Grub Error 17 after stage 1.5 loads.
I can boot from rescue OK, the grub.conf man menu.lst look fine, it's pointing to "root (hd0,2)". It's either the BIOS that can't find the MBR, or the MBR can't find Grub.When I looked at the disk with fdisk after the install, hda1 was still marked bootable, hda3 was not, so I swapped bootable flags but that has not made a difference. I also appended the new grub to the old grub thinking I could get the MBR (if it is there) to load the old grub and thence find the new Centos, but that didn't work either.Mobo is an old Shuttle AK35.Any ideas? Did I mess up by not telling the system to put the MBR on /dev/hda3? Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling?
CentOS 5 :: Where To Download CentOS LAMP?
Nov 30, 2009I am looking for the CentOS LAMP system (all in one) that can fit onto a CD or a DVD. When I check the download section there are 6 files of 700MBs or so. How come there are CentOS versions of Asterisk (for example Trixbox) that has LAMP and CentOS 5 and yet fits on one CD?
Is that a stripped down version? if so, can you please guide me to a simple CentOS version on this site so that I can download it and build LAMP on it?

Apr 2, 2009I've installed the CentOS 5.1 from a CD only yesterday and everything is working fine except Mysql that came from the CD distribution. I have detected that my system has mysql.
[root@onion /]# rpm -qa |grep mysql
mysql-5.0.22-2.1.0.1
[root@onion /]# find . -name mysql
./usr/bin/mysql
./usr/share/mysql
./usr/lib/mysql
However I'm unable to find mysqld, safe_mysqld or mysql_install_db in my filesysytem.

Debian Configuration :: Find & Download I386 Packages On An Amd64 System?
Oct 30, 2010I have a computer with internet access with amd64 architecture running Debian stable (Lenny). I have another computer with NO internet access with i386 architecture running Debian stable (Lenny).I want to download some packages for the i386 computer using the amd64 computer. So far, the only way I can see to do this is to use dpkg-architecture to temporarily change to i386 on the internet computer, run aptitude with the download-only option to retrieve the packages I need with all suitable dependencies, then switch the internet computer back over to amd64.
I can't imagine I'm the only person who ever needed to do this, and yet I've had no luck finding any advice. The method I described seems rather awkward - is there a more elegant solution?
I apologize to the membership, I realize now the absurdity of this subject. Having now studied the online repository search functions closer, I see it appears packages are automatically retrieved with all necessary dependencies. As such, it is not necessary to use apt and its various functions to do the job.
