Sep 16, 2010barley got it today in fact, have my laptop dual booted running Win7 and Ubuntu 10.04. I haven't worked with the terminal at all so i have no idea what I'm doing with this. I'm having a problem connecting to the wireless Internet. It has theicon at the top but doesn't recognize any signals. Works fine using land line though. My laptop has the wifi on/off button on it but that doesn't seem to be doing anything

Jul 23, 2011My program is creating 4 threads per transaction. Threads doing nothing but simply sleeping.
Now, when transaction ends, I want to wake up all the threads from sleeping. For this I am using pthread_kill() to wake up the threads using signal SIGUSR2.
Problem raises when I put more transactions(eg. 100 trans). My process gets hangup.

Sep 7, 2010I had windows and 8.10 earlier and now have single boot 10.04 !
1.) I can see wireless networks only after I am connected to the router through wired ! I guess its some thing to do with me activating ifup and ifdown, when my wired connection stopped working as i was trying to install wireless drivers.
2.) Even when I see wireless networks, i cannot connect to any of them.
I tried various things for a whole day trying to fix it and i doubt if i screwed up some thing that was running good.

The wireless light on my computer doesnt turn on (there's a button to turn it on and off) anyways...it's annoying. Apr 4, 2011just switched from Windows Vista to Ubuntu 10.10 on my Toshiba laptop and I'm loving it, except for some wireless connection problems. About 70% of the time, my computer is unable to find any wireless signals whatsoever, despite being right next to the router. When it does find the signal it connects fine and runs great, but most of the time it doesn't show any signals at all. I can't find any pattern to when it does or doesn't find the signal. May 19, 2009I've installed CENTOS 5.3 on my laptop, on dual boot with windows xp. The problem is that my wireless network manager doesn't find any networks. Another laptop with fedora 10 installed finds the network, so the problem is not the network. I guess it's a problem with the wireless driver / firmware, as i had this problem on fedora some time ago, and i've solved installing the firmware. Now i've installed the firmware, i rebooted, and it still doesn't find any network.

Oct 30, 2010I have a desktop and a laptop. I have Netgear WGR614v9 Wireless Router connected to my desktop. Since my Laptop is pretty old I also bought a Netger Wireless Adapter for the sme model. Now when I connect the Wireless Adapter I am unable to connect to Wi-fi. I am new to Linux, after googling I ran "lsusb" command and it showed Netgear Wireless adapter and its version. Also in GUI when I open File Browser it also shows the Adapter detected but I am unable to connet the same to my router. Also the blue light on the adapter is not glowing.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Card Dormant Until Wired Connection Detected?
Feb 2, 2011I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

Nov 1, 2010I have an Acer Laptop and I am trying to use Linux Redhat 5 on it but for some reason the NIC is not detected by Linux. It is a bit surprising to me that the same problem was seen in my desktop computer but after changing the NIC to a different slot the Linux OS detected the NIC and it is working fine but my laptop still has the same problem.
From troubleshooting point of view:
1. Installed Linux multiple times but it didn't work.
2. Tried to add the hardware (NIC) but it didn't work.
Note: The NIC was working fine when I first installed Linux but after sometime it didn't. The laptop is dual boot (Windows & Linux) when I boot via windows the NIC works fine but not with Linux.

May 3, 2011I have a notebook where it appears a fresh install of natty has detected 2 screens as being present, and set them to be mirrored.
However, there is only one screen present.
It's a Hp 5320m, with a Intel HD graphics.

OS: Debian Lenny
Laptop: Dell Latitude D600
Ethernet adapter: Broadcom 57xx Gigabit Integrated Controller
Wifi adapter: Broadcom BCM4309 802.11a/b/g
Have done the following troubleshooting suggestions from around the www:
LAN controller is enabled in BIOS
dmesg | grep eth0 returns nothing
lspci -v | grep -i net shows wifi adapter but no ethernet adapter
ifconfig -a does not show eth0
ifconfig eth0 up confirms ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device
Have done lsmod, but not sure what I should be looking for.
I would post lspci, dmesg or any other output, but as the adapter is not being detected, I have no network/internet connection from that laptop, have only one other Windows based (at this stage) laptop that I am using to write this message, and so would have to type out the output manually.Adapter indicators are both on when laptop is powered up. Am unsure if the ethernet adapter has somehow gone to sleep, and if so, unsure how to wake it.Perhaps the ethernet adapter is defective, but am hoping to confirm this before looking for a workaround/replacement.

Mar 14, 2011I had the Wireless Broadband working. It stopped working after I closed the laptop (suspend). Also the wifi will not connect until reboot. Now the entry for the Wireless Broadband is gone, and the tab for it is greyed out as well.I would be happy to submit this as a bug and assist with the debugging process.

Mar 31, 2011I have Lenovo G550 and openSUSE 11.4. Everything's ok, wifi without problems, I could connect to anywhere I wanted to, but yesterday while laptop was running and was connected actually by wire to internet, after removing the wire I realized that I cannot connect to wifi (the laptop was hibernated during night) - even the light diode in the front of the laptop was not shining. I went to yast and realized that the wlan0 isn't enabled and there's new eth1 port. But the wlan by ifup I cannot start and the eth1 I cannot start as well.
