Programming :: Storing Numbers In QByteArray?

Dec 15, 2010

I have a program that sends QByteArray datagrams over a udp socket. I would like to have 4 bytes of the datagram that contain a 32 bit integer. When saving numbers to the QByteArray, I have tried the static function number(int) and member function setNum(int), but they convert the integer to its decimal string representation and save that in the byte array. So if the number were 10, it takes 2 bytes, if it were 10,000,000 it takes 8 bytes. This wastes space, and makes it more difficult to get the number when it is packed with a few other pieces of data in the same datagram. Is there a standard way of doing this in Qt?

Code:

Programming :: Sed To Remove Non-numerics From Phone Numbers?

Jan 26, 2011

Can sed remove non-numerics (apart from an optional leading +) from phone numbers when prefixed with text that must be retained? The need is to make phone numbers exported from an Orage address book to a .ldif file suitable for gnokii to send to a mobile phone. Here are sample lines:

Code:
facsimiletelephonenumber: +91 (123) 1234567
telephoneNumber: +44 (123) 1234567

They have to end up as:

Code:
facsimiletelephonenumber: +911231234567
telephoneNumber: +441231234567

I could do it in awk but am curious to learn if sed can do it.

Debian Hardware :: Getting HPE Library And Tape Tools To Recognize Tape Drive

Apr 3, 2016

I have been using an LTO-5 Ultrium-3000 tape drive connected to an ATTO HBA without problem. I can control the tape drive using "mt -f /dev/nst0" and have been able to make successful backups using cpio, tar, and dump/restore. I followed some instructions on the web about how to install the HPE Library and Tape Tools application (version 4.21) which relies on conversion of a rpm to a deb file. The software seems to have been installed correctly and runs. However the hardware scan function does not recognize my tape drive. The following is suggested in the user manual if the tape device is not recognized by the software under Linux:

1. Login as root.
2. Edit the following file:
vi /etc/modules.conf
3. Add the following line as appropriate:
add options scsi_mod max_scsi_luns=128
4. Reboot the computer.

The problem is I don't have an /etc/modules.conf and am not sure exactly which file would be equivalent? If this is even the correct solution.

My tape drive is controllable and functions well using "mt -f /dev/nst0 status" so it seems to be a matter of LT&T software to detect the tape drive.

At the risk of providing too much info here some, possibly relevant, output from lshw

Ubuntu :: Storing User Files On A Seperate Partation For Dual Booting?

May 26, 2011

I set up my laptop to dual boot windows and ubuntu 11.4, and it appears to work fine, I can boot into both etc. Now what I'm trying to do is set up a separate partition to store all of my documents, pictures etc so that I can have access to them in both ubunut and windows. So I have this separate partition on my harddrive, formatter as fat32 so both OSs can read and write it, problem is that I'm having lots of trouble auto mounting, accessing and using the files on this partition on ubuntu. I got it to auto mount, but only root has access to modify files, I can open and read but not delete or modify. Also I can't make links to the files on this partition, I was hoping to just link the documents and other folders in my ubuntu home directory to the folders in the new partition, but I can't make links to them. Is there a better way to go at this problem of sharing data between two OSs or any I doing something wrong? If you need any additional info just ask and i'll do my best to get it to you.

CentOS 5 :: Memory Usage - How To Read Those Numbers Exactly At Top

Jul 14, 2010

My Centos PC has got 1 gig of rams. I'm running a webserver with 2 websites and a mysql service. also i need to start two other programs, which uses ~300-350 mbs/each. My memory usage without them is around 450-500 without them. It was 100MB~ free with everything i need on a sec ago. I've refreshed those two sites and it was ~50 left. SO what, site refresh for each user takes 20 megabytes or something? Is there any way to lower the overall usage without turning off mysql, apache and the two other programs? If there is how? And about number read, it says in the top command on mem like 4.4, 1.2, 2.0, etc.

What does that mean? I thought it's like 2.0=20 megabytes, but it doesn't add up to 450-500 then. And by the way, swap memory is 0kb. I have no possibility adding more rams except paying more 5 dollars a month for another 512. 5$/month is a lot for me (sounds funny)? Check out my country, you'll have to rethink. Especially being a student with no possibility to find a job). As for webhostings, i cannot find anything for free, that I could host my wehsites with ping less than 100 actually. Or <80 if say, then it's php memory limit is too low for my WP blog needs.

General :: Nas - Most Effective Backup Software -> When Dealing With Large Numbers Of Files?

Jul 18, 2010

I have two NASes. I work off of one, and the other is used as a backup. As I have it set up now, it's slow. Running a backup takes a week. Even for 7 TB, with 1,979,407 files, this seems a bit outlandish, particularly as both systems are RAID-5 and the network is all gigabit. I've been digging about in the rsync man pages, and I really don't understand what differentiates the various topologies.Right now, all the processing is being done on the backup NAS, which has the main volume from the main NAS mounted locally over SMB. I suspect that the SMB overhead is killing me, particularly when dealing with lots of files.

I think what I need is to set up rsync on the main nas as a daemon, and then run a local rsync client to connect to it, which would hopefully allow me to completely avoid the whole SMB-in-the-middle affair, but aside from mentioning that it's there, I can find very little information on why one would want to use the daemon mode for rsync.

Here's my current rsync command line: rsync -r -progress --delete /cifs/Thecus/ /mnt/Storage/input? Is there a better way/tool to do this? Edit:Ok, to address the additional questions: The "Main" NAS is a Thecus N7700. I have additional modules installed that give me SSH, and it has rsync, but it's not in the $PATH, and I havn't figured out how to edit the local $PATH in a way that persists between reboots. The "Backup" NAS is a DIY affair, built around a 1.6Ghz Via Mobo with a Adaptec Hardware RAID card. It's running CentOS 5 with a full desktop environment. It's the hardware I'm running rsync from. (Gigabit is through a additional PCI card).

Further Edit: Ok, got rsync over SSH working (thanks, lajuette!).I had to do a bit of tweaking on my command line, I'm running rsync with the args:rsync -rum --inplace --progress --delete --rsync-path=/opt/bin/rsync sys@10.1.1.10:/raid/data/Storage /mnt/Storage (Note: I'm specifically not using -a, because I want to change the ownership to the local account, to not freak-out SELinux)
