Ubuntu :: Wget To Access Credit Card Online?

Apr 8, 2011

I am interested in making wget do a slightly different function for me. I have downloaded it, built it (1.12) and it works perfectly right out of the box. would like to have it login to my creditcards.citi.com https website, give my user id, my password and "select NEXT-SCREEN label=Account Activity", then capture the account activity that returns.

I got these three values in my firefox Selenium script that runs perfectly time after time. My big picture goal, is to be able, on a crontab, to dump my account activity every night at midnight. I am not married to this idea if anyone has a better or different route.

Software :: Hotspot Server With Credit Card Payment And Load Balancing?

Feb 20, 2011

First time on here and my only previous linux experience is a ongoing Mythbuntu project. I have access to allot of open air event sites where ASDL is pitiful. Mobile internet at these places is generally quite good though. So I have been thinking of building a box that has a dongle from each of the networks and load balancing these connections to be distributed on LAN to AP/AP's. On some site where it would not be paid for by the event so I would also want to charge for access. Is there a hotspot server build that will support credit card charges (I know very little about this bit), limit the amount of bandwidth to each user and do the load balancing bit for me?

This may seem like a poor service to charge for but the alternative is an 8mb satellite or 2mb ASDL which about five offices share. If your on site and your network is bad, this could be a real life saver. To further increase the service if it works well, It would be good for a customer to be able to log on to several servers across the site and still get access. I'm happy to pay for a distribution if it does everything I need. My searches seem to be fruitless.[URL] but there doesn't seem to be any credit card payment support.

General :: Wget Works But Elinks Won't Go Online?

Apr 11, 2011

I've got a bit of tricky situation with a Red Hat box, our network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet. I've exported its address using "export http_proxy=http://usernameassword@server_iport" and to test I ran a wget against www.google.co.za and got a response, but using elinks to connect to google gives a proxy requires authentication error. It cant possibly be the credentials as wget can connect. I've confirmed that the proxy was exported by running "env | grep -i proxy", I also tried appending that line on both "/etc/profile" and/or "/root/.bash_profile" with no luck. one other thing I noticed is that passing those arguments directly to elinks works, not only this but "ssh -X server_ip_address" then running firefox& and giving it the proxy address also works. Is the any other way to make this line global, meaning to tell all applications that require internet connection to use the proxy? The server is sitting at a remote location and I only have access to a shell.

Networking :: Wget Can Access / Browser Cannot

Jun 27, 2010

I have been having a problem on my Ubuntu desktop with the wireless connection. I am now running Ubuntu 10.04, but the problem showed up immediately after upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10. This machine is used as a CUPS server so my wife can print from her laptop and get to a printer downstairs. Intermittently, I will be unable to access the CUPS server web pages (or any other web pages on the local Apache server) from a remote machine on the internal network. I also cannot connect in via SSH. However, from the wireless desktop itself the web pages are still accessible and a local browser can also access remote web sites just fine. So, the network connection is still up.

To try to determine how often this was happening, I wrote a simple Bash script that checked if a page could be accessed on the web server on the wireless machine. I used wget to access a page and then log the results to a file while running the script from a crontab entry. It turns out that even though I cannot access a web page using a remote browser, I can access the same web pages using wget from a remote machine. This has me a little confused..What could be causing this situation? I do not have a firewall running on the desktop with the wireless connection. After a while, the blockage of inbound web pages from a remote browser is "fixed" and I can again access the CUPS (and other) pages.

Ubuntu :: Why Zte Using More Credit Than Huawei

Dec 26, 2010

I have had a huawei e1550 from 3 and can easily make 1gb of credit last the month.I have just purchased a new modem a zte mf112 and it is hammering the credit. In 2 days it has used nearly a third of the gig doing just the same as i normally would. The old one is a 3.6mbps and the new one a 7.2mbps so i thought always being at the better download/upload speeds it would be cheaper because it should download things quicker.I do know the old one says hsdpa and the new one hsupa but the new one always being at a quicker speed should of cancelled the difference out?

Software :: Resume An Interrupted Wget Using Wget.log?

Jun 19, 2011

If a wget download is interrupted (like if I have to shutdown prematurely), I get a wget.log with the partial download. How can I later resume the download using the data in wget.log? I have searched high and low (including wget manual) and cannot find how to do this. Is it so obvious that I did not see it? The wget -c option with the wget.log as the argument to the -c option does not work. What I do do is open the wget.log and copy the URL and then paste it into the command line and do another wget. This works but the download is started from the beginning, which means nothing in the wget.log is used.

The install program then proceeded to access online repositories without difficulty, and I had no further difficulty accessing the internet. So why the misleading test result?

Ubuntu :: Access Sony Ps2 Memory Card - Venom Adapter?

Sep 5, 2010

recently I stumbled upon the fact you can buy a Sony Ps2 to Ps3 memory adapter which is a USB device that plugs into your PS3. However what I was wanting to know is there a way to mount the PS2 Memory card under Ubuntu via the USB device. Do I need to install a PC/SC card driver as its flash memory or do I need to use CCID?? Is it usbmount or pmount? I am a little clueless how you would get Ubuntu to read & access a PS2 Flash Card. The memory cards are manufactured by MagicGate and they bear this legend on the back; This device complies with part 15 of the FCC rules & regs and the Canadian ICES-003 operation is covered by the following conditions,

1> This device may not cause harmful interference.

2> This device must accept any interference received. Including interference that may cause undesired operation.

The way I look at it is as follows, if these memory cards are now defunct and no longer supported by Sony as such an 8mb memory card makes for a cheap storage method. Especially when people are throwing them away! The Venom adapter's are available on eBay. Let the hilarity ensue, mail your friend's some files on a 8-MB Ps2 Memory Card, then laugh with evil glee when they cant open it.

Ubuntu Networking :: Laptop's Wireless Card Can See Access Points But Can't Connect

Jan 15, 2011

I'm not exactly sure if this should be here and not in the Hardware & Laptops section, but seeing as my only problem is with WiFi, I'm guessing this is the right place. Under Ubuntu, my laptop (an Asus K42Ja, more details below) can see wireless networks normally. However, when I attempt to connect, it fails to establish a connection. Under Windows on the same laptop (dual boot), no problems are experienced.

According to this, there's a firmware bug in my wireless chip which causes connections to get dropped. I'm not getting connections at all, but I still tried the workarounds on that page with no luck. The router is a TP-Link TL-WR340G. My previous laptop, a really old one from 2003 running Ubuntu 9.10 was able to connect to that router without problems. The wireless card was Intel on that as well (but, of course, much older). The router is set up to use WPA for security. I didn't use WPA2 as I read something a while ago about problems with WPA2 and some Linux distros. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

If anyone's curious, I'm posting this on Ubuntu, via an ethernet cable to the router mentioned earlier. Some tasty technical bits: dmesg (the latter half of the "timed out" messages is me retrying after double-checking the WPA key)

OpenSUSE Wireless :: How To Access 5GHz Channels On Linksys Card

Jun 19, 2010

I installed the Linksys WMP600N dual band card on my OpenSuSE 11.2 box using the SuSE supplied rt2860 driver. With the 2.4GHz channels this works out of the box. However, I am unable to access the 5GHz channels. iwlist says:

Leatherstocking:/home/bergue # iwlist wlan0 channel
wlan0 13 channels in total; available frequencies :
Channel 01 : 2.412 GHz
Channel 02 : 2.417 GHz
Channel 03 : 2.422 GHz
Channel 04 : 2.427 GHz
Channel 05 : 2.432 GHz
Channel 06 : 2.437 GHz
Channel 07 : 2.442 GHz
Channel 08 : 2.447 GHz
Channel 09 : 2.452 GHz
Channel 10 : 2.457 GHz
Channel 11 : 2.462 GHz
Channel 12 : 2.467 GHz
Channel 13 : 2.472 GHz
Current Frequency:2.432 GHz (Channel 5)

Setting a 5GH channel with iwconfig doesn't work. iwpriv doesn't work either:
iwpriv wlan0 set WirelessMode=6
wlan0 no private ioctls.

Changing any settings in /etc/Wireless/RT2860STA/RT2860STA.dat doesn't seem to have any effect at all. The driver supplied by SuSE is of version 1.8. On the Ralink website a newer driver of version 2.3 is available; but so far I didn't manage to install it because I am not a C expert. However, the 5GHz channels should be accessible by the older 1.8 version driver. Somehow I suspect that in the SuSE distribution some dynamic parameters are hardcoded and therefore the whole thing fails.
