View 3 RepliesI have been trying to set up Frets on Fire with my guitar from Metallica Edition (which somewhere up and down i read was of the GHWT breed). On windows, with bluesoleil and GlovePie i have been able to successfully get it running with the aid of a script elaborated in the [URL] forum. i wanted to run this on my ubuntu box (that is my media center).I successfully added and compiled the latest Cwiid from git, installed it and my guitar connects just fine and works correctly as a mouse.
The problem the GH3 script that is posted everywhere just won't do. The guitar is simply dead when i run wminput with that script.I know it too late to make this short but my question is, has anyone got this running Fof with GHWT on Ubuntu (or any linux for that matter)?
How to repartition a hard drive using Mepis 3.3, none of the listed sites will open to me. Is this the best software to repartition a new Windows 7 hard drive? I notice there are later versions of the Mepis software.

After I click on the "Download" link, a new window appears which asks me if I want to 1) Open with Archive Manager (default) or 2) Save File. There is a drop down arrow next to the first choice which only gives "Other..." as the only other choice. Well, if I choose the first option, the download appears as an .exe file in the "Downloads" window.
A window with "Download Error" in its Title Bar appears with the following message in it: "/tmp/VLC_Player_Setup-3.exe could not be opened, because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences." I don't even know yet how to even open up an .exe file in Linux, despite repeated research.
Ubuntu 9.10 I have an installation of opendchub up and running, and users are able to connect and chat. However, users are unable to download each others' filelists. I've looked at opendchub's output at its most verbose level, and it looks like things should be working. Here's some of that output:

I have just done a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.0.4 Netbook Edition on my Asus Eee PC 1000H, which was originally running Windows XP. Right after the installation I used the Update Manager to download/install updates. It works fine so far and I think I am beginning to like it.
I just could not get my head around one issue with the Firefox 3.6.6. For some strange reasons I just could not download and install Firefox add-ons or themes. I would click on the button "Add to Firefox". The download window with the progress bar would appear. The progress bar would get stuck at 0% with the message "waiting". After 30 secs or so, this error message would appear:
Firefox could not install the file at [url]
Because: Download error-228
I put Ubuntu on my computer about a week ago, and have not been able to download many new programs or updates. For expmple, I'll go over to Update Manager and try to install something, but it will stop usually halfway through or near the end and show me an error message. usually, the message looks like this:FAILED TO DOWNLOAD FILE PACKAGESCheck your Internet connection

I have recently purchased a Toshiba satellite pro C650 laptop. I have installed Ubuntu 10.04 via Wubi which has installed ok and boots fine but it fails to recognise my Wifi card or network so I am unable to download any drivers. It also sees my dvd rom drive but not any usb ports or other hardware. I have searched the Toshiba site but cannot find a fix on any of the Linux forums there.

Kontza found the solution (post #3), so thank him for it. This solution fixed this problem on my Dell Inspiron 1545 with a Broadcom 4312 card. (Card Tech Specs: 0c:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01)) Solution 2: Another option is here. Update: The Live USB of Natty Narwhal (11.04) automatically detected that I needed the STA driver. After installing it and rebooting, the wireless worked. (No cable was needed for this.) Update 2: After installing with the alternate cd, I needed a cable and after updating, I was able to download the STA driver through the 'Additional Drivers' section.
