ATI Radeon HD 4350 256MB DDR2

After struggling for days with trying to install with GUI - did not work Tried installing with "linux text" - installation went through - but I get no Centos GUI logon/desktop Tried installing with network installation - installation went through - but I get no Centos GUI logon/desktop Even tried making CentOS - USB pens, installing from, and booting from.... without luck. ...then finally, I got some "smileys"...

Solution:

I downloaded the ATI package for the card;

[URL]

I installed this;

sh ati-driver-installer-10-10-x86.x86_64.run

...and then I rebooted. After boot, I only got terminal (tty1) and I did:

"startx"

NOW - i finally got GUI But the whole problem seems to driver support for new graphic cards. So what I did was actually find an old card, Radeon 7000, installed this.. I got the Centos installation - GUI, installed gnome and ...

Ubuntu :: Installing New Graphics Card - Screen Went Black

Mar 30, 2011

I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 on what used to be a windows vista. I bought me a new graphics card today so that I could run dual screen (GeForce210). I saw a guide at [URL] and I followed it.

I typed: sudo apt-get install nvidia-current
then I restarted my computer, once again as instructed I typed:
sudo nvidia-xconfig then logged out as instructed...

After I logged out the screen went black and I was not able to login. So I restarted my computer. Now when I turn on my computer I am getting this error and it's stopping at it.

fsck from util-linux-n/g 2.17.2
/dev/sda1: clean, 255658/294092280 files, 5031534/117616640 blocks

Skipping profile in /etc/apparmor.d/disable: usr.bin.firefox
*setting sensors limits
Starting GNUstep distributed object mapper: start-stop-daemon: unable to stat /usr/bin/gdomap/ (no such file or directory)
speech-dispatcher disabled: edit /etc/default/speech-dispatcher
*starting the winbind daemon winbind

It stops on this screen. I do not want to wipe it but I cannot get it started. I do have an external hard drive and at the moment I am using my Ubuntu disc to "try Ubuntu" I was going to try backing up everything I have but it will not let me access root because I am not logged on to that user, is there anything I can do to get pass this? I've called around and no one is willing to work on my computer since it is now running on Ubuntu 10.10

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Graphics Card Not Working - No Screen Output

Oct 12, 2010

Just fitted an Inno3D (I-7300LE-G4E3) graphics card and I get a distorted boot up screen, a virtually unreadble boot menu (lots of extra white bits all over the screen) and when the system is booting the black screen with "booting from .." and the underscore at the end, is covered with white commas (?!), then the login screen pops up for a fraction of a second, then get a blank screen and no signal-cant get anything after this (or from the vga port on the pc)-I ve tried logging in even though I cant see anything, but no music , nothing.

Thought I might have to download drievers AFTER I d installed it, but as I had this problem, I removed it and tried to download driers before installation. Not sure which of the 4 to try, but tried 2 and neither works-GDebi is offered as an app to open them but nothing happens, nothing happens if I just click on them and when I try and install them from a terminal with the script from the nVidia site, it says unable to open them.

Hardware :: Screen/Monitor Cannot Be Found Despite The Graphics Card Has Been?

Apr 26, 2010

I'm using an Intel Q45 graphic card, VGA and HDMI. I have two monitors and both work with Win7, splitting nicely. However in Suse it doesn't find the second monitor, the one on the HDMI port. However Suse does find that there is a HDMI port it could use. It's just not set up to have a screen attached to it.Xinerama won't work. I tried it despite the fact that it shouldn't I have tried numerous xorg.conf setting according to a number of sites that were very helpful and very thorough. I tried to modify their advice but it simply didn't work out for me.It seems like the screen is simply not acknowledged within the system for some reason. I'm running OpenSUSE 11.2 with KDE4.4, factory and my other systems pick up the screen without a hitch. My home system did the same with a HDMI connection so if anyone can point me in the right direction or even better

Ubuntu :: 10.10 Graphics Card On Gateway LT3103u - Can't Use Any Visual Effects - Screen Spazzes Out And Becomes Unusable

Apr 3, 2011

I'm using a Gateway LT3103u running a dual boot of Win 7 and Ubuntu 10.10 (separate partitions) and ever since I've started using Ubuntu (last October) I've had persistent graphic card problems.

My graphics card is the ATI Radeon X1270.

Right now I can't use any visual effects because of I do the screen spazzes out and becomes unusable. This isn't a big deal for me since I don't use them but I figured it's relevant to the problem.

Even with visual effects off I still have problems and at times parts of the menu will stay on the screen in a little box which covers any windows that open beneath it. The only way to get rid of it is to turn visual effects on so the screen resets then hit use previous settings.

Debian Configuration :: Blank Screen On Boot. Graphics Card Not In Xorg.conf?

Jul 10, 2010

I've been using ubuntu on a new desktop for a couple of months, but i had an old HP that was given to me in my basement. It has 384Mb of ram, and thats because i had a 256Mb stick laying around. I installed debian becuase it is more suited for older hardware (at least from what I've read). It installed fine, but it boots to a blank screen, and pressing ctrl+alt+F2 bring me to the command line. I checked /etc/X11/xorg.conf to change the driver to vesa, to find out my video card isn't even shown. I ran lspci and I found that it says my graphics card is Intel Corporation 82810E DC-133 (CGC) Chipset graphics controller (rev3) In the device section of xorg.conf, it merly says Identifier"Configured Video Device"

General :: Make PCI-E Graphics Card Visible To Ubuntu When The Motherboard Has Integrated Graphics?

May 2, 2010

I have a Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 motherboard with integrated graphics that shows up on lspci as an ATI Radeon 2100. I also bought a PCI-Express Nvidia graphics card so I could use the VDPAU feature on Linux (plays H.264 in hardware). The BIOS has three settings about which display to initialize first:

Integrated graphics
PCI graphics
PCI-Express graphics (PEG)

I set the BIOS on PEG, but

I cannot get anything, not even a splash screen or POST messages, to emerge from the PCI-Express graphics card. (I'm using a DVI connector; the card also has an HDMI output.)I cannot get the kernel lspci to see the graphics card; the only VGA controller it acknowledges is the integrated one.Running dmidecode acknowledges the existence of an x16 PCI Express slot, and it says

Current usage: Unknown

There is an additional BIOS setting called "Internal Graphics Mode" which is normally set to "Auto" which means it is supposed to prefer a PCI Express VGA card. I set it to "Disabled" which now means I'm getting no output at all. I will soon be learning how to do a BIOS reset!

Other information: The PCI-E card is a MSI N210-MD512H GeForce 210. This is a fanless card. Although there are no fans to see turning, the heat sink on the PCI-E card is definitely getting hot, so the card is getting some sort of power. It gets all its power from the PCI-E slot; there is no external power connector. The BIOS is an AMI Award BIOS.how can I make the PCI Express graphics card visible to Ubuntu?

Ubuntu :: Second Graphics Card Not Showing

Jan 21, 2010

I've put a second video card in my computer running 9.10(64-bit) to setup a 3rd monitor.

I'm using the following video cards with the 190 driver from nVidia:
Video Card 0: nVidia GeForce 9500 (PCI express x16)
Video Card 1: nVidia GeForce 6200 (PCI)

but when i run lspci the second video card isn't seen in the list. The bios is set to automatic detection, and I've seen it work on a identical second system that has windows 7 so I know the bios is capable of running the two cards concurrently.

I've verified the 190 driver is compatible with the 6200 series and have tested it by setting the bios to use the (PCI) device manually.

Ubuntu :: Graphics Card Could Not Be Detected

Oct 13, 2010

Ubuntu is not the problem; I don't think. I'm running Maverick 10.10. With my computer I have to unplug and plug back in the graphics card every time I want to start up the computer so I usually keep it running 24-7. There was a power surge and when I got it back running, once it reached the load boot screen and it was stuck their for awhile. Then it instantly sent me to x-term. So I tried logging in and typing:

sudo start gdm

It said it was already running but I could not display anything or login the normal way. I restarted and the same thing happened. I managed to get to Recovery Mode and I fixed broken packages and then I ran it in low graphics mode. It said that the display, monitors, input, and graphics card could not be detected. If there was a way to resize the screen to something more tolerably than 800x600 in low graphics mode I'd be glad to hear it. I could at least stick around to using that until I can fix some stuff up.
