View 1 RepliesI have 2 computers on the same network that i need to link together to transfer files 1 is a web server the other is a minecraft server. the problem is that the file transfer will be constant as the minecraft server will constantly updates files on the web server and I dont want it to go to the router then to come back to the web server. I want to add a second network card to each computer and link them together and use this second connection to transfer the files is it possible?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fully automate a Minecraft server, and I decided to use Ubuntu 11.04 on this computer. The computer I'm using for it is an old computer (it's the old family PC, it's about 5 years old (and running amazingly now that I've formatted the hard drive (compared to how it used to run))) so it won't run the Unix environment (or something like that) and runs the Gnome environment instead.
Anyways; the server auto-starts when my computer turns on (my computer also automatically turns on). Now all I need to do is have my computer auto-shutdown at 12:00AM as well as enter the command "stop" into the running terminal. I plan to later add more commands (such as automatically welcoming people to the server when they connect, but that's not important right now and I'll likely be able to figure out if I can get this working).
This is the command I'm using to shutdown the computer:
sudo shutdown -P 24:00
However, it doesn't work. First of all, I need to enter my password, so I need some way to have the shell file enter my password for me whenever the terminal asks for it. Second of all, it just plan doesn't work, even if I enter my password (like, the countdown doesn't appear). As for entering commands into the terminal, the only way I can think of is:echo "stop" But the problem is that doesn't work because it wont enter into the running terminal (and I don't know how to do that).
I recently loaded up my old powermac g3 with debian 6.0 PPC, and it seems to be running quite good. I control it using ssh from my windows 7 box. I installed default-jre, so I could run the minecraft server on there.
I've got two questions: I installed Openvpn, but I'm a bit confused on how to use it.. I want people to be able to connect to my vpn network over the internet, what configuration should I use, and could someone maybe link me a decent step by step tutorial?
secondly, when I tried to launch the server, it tried to generate a new map, but this is taking ages! on my desktop computer, it only took two seconds, but after over half an hour, it only got to 20% of "preparing spawn area" what could be wrong with this? Any reason why the java virtual machine would have performance issues? I have no clue.. I haven't tried copying over my smp map from my windows box yet, and launching that.. but I doubt performance will be any better. (my windows 7 machine is hosting at the moment for about 10 people)
I'm running a linux cloud server with the following config
1.2ghz Processor allocation
752MB Ram
The site loads slow and clicking a link almost freezes the page for a second. Also, the page loads could be much faster. We've been running mysqltuner and have pretty much optimized all slow queries. Is there anything we can do to fine tune the server for faster and more responsive?
Httpd.conf

KeepAlive Off

I want to make a script that specifies how much ram to launch minecraft server with, so far I have:Code:read $ra
java -Xmx$raM -Xms$raM -jar minecraft_server.jar noguibut I knowthat that won't work because there is the M at the end of the variable $ra, is there a way I could make this work? I believe that the M at the end is required to specify the measurement unit.
I think this goes here, but I'm not sure. I decided that XAMPP had been troublesome enough. MySQL never worked. So I decided to instal the LAMP stack offered by YaST. I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:
Code:
the-matrix:~ # mysql start
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) or

i didnt find the mysql.sock file in the location /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. i cannot find the portal-ext.properties file also to make intial settings.
I am using CentOS5 and installed the MySQL for server during the installation. I can set up and use MySQL databases. But I cannot make it startup everytime the server restarts. And quite a lot of methods need this folder "support-files/mysql.server", while my set up cannot find this. I am wondering if my installation of the MySQL for server is complete or not.

I've just made my old, dusty computer into an Ubuntu Server. So far, i have installed a well functioned LAMP server, to host my Website. I have also installed a FTP-Server (proftpd) and i was wondering if i could manage my FTP accounts in MySQL so i could make an account creation page for it? If yes, how?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Mysql in Ubuntu 9, for the use of roundcube database. After installing iam getting the error like this
* Stopping MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Starting MySQL database server mysqld [ OK ]
* Checking for corrupt, not cleanly closed and upgrade needing tables.
So because of this in the roundcube configuration its giving the error message that MYSQL is not installed. So Kindly give me a idea how to solve this.
Im getting this error when i try to run mysql from a shell
Code:
ERROR 2002 (HY0000): can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
I have installed MySQL over yum on fedora.
but the path and file /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock does not exist on my system?
I've tried /etc/init.d/mysql start, and it actually starts, or at least, it doesn't error out. But when I do pgrep mysql I get nothing, and when I try to login with mysql -p as root, I get
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
None of my other logins work, either, but since pgrep mysql didn't work, it's clear that MySQL just isn't running. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling mysql-server via apt-get, but I get the same thing. The logs in /var/log/syslog show this:
Apr 11 14:31:26 /etc/init.d/mysql[9774]: #007/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed

We have 2 servers, 1 is the webserver and the other is the Mysql server.
When transfering a 2GB file from the webserver to the Mysql server.
The webserver's connection to the mysql DB server dies completely.
Need to restart the MYSQL process in order for it to come back online.
During this connection downtime, when using phpmyadmin on the mysql server shows no problem running queries etc.

If any driver is already installed How can I get the file path for those driver files? is it comes along with jdk packages? As i am not a programmer, and does't know more about jdbc.

I have an e-mail production server that has been running fine for almost two years.
Notice mail was not serving today and login to a bunch of errors in messages
However, I think they are all from not being able to access MySQL and when I:

I get:

My question: if I install MySQL Server (same version, 5.1) again, will it delete my databases, or will they still work?
How can I really, really remove everything related to mysql / mysql-server. I read and tried all kinds of things, but on every reinstall there is still old mysql stuff there, for example an existing password. Even resetting the password does not help.
Reason of removal: it looks like the mysql setup is really corrupt, so I want to remove, and then do a fresh install. Running Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit

I've been attempting to set up a LAMP for local web development, which meant installing mysql-server. But now have a problem when trying to run mysql, I get:-
ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
When trying to downgrade mysql-server I saw that there are dependency problems between the various modules (but can't recall which). But whichever route I truied the results are always the same.
Thought about trying XAMPP but I note that even has it's problems, is there any way I can get a lamp set up on FC14, or must I give it up as a bad job.
