Ubuntu :: Put Svn Add And File Name But That Did Not Work
Feb 26, 2011
I have a project on google code and I want to add a file to it I am using xubuntu 8 so I need to use the terminal.I thought I had to put svn add and the file name but that did not work. Anyone know?
I am trying to convert my batch file into a .sh file and i think i have it perfect but it just will not work, so obviously not perfect. This is the code for my batch file.
[Code]....
This works perfectly on my own computer without any problems. I want to host this on my Linux VPS (CentOS 5) and need it to be converted into run.sh. This is the code for my run.sh.
i have installed mtn and its work perfectly in shell, i have written a php script to run mtn in browser, if i run this php script in CLI it works well and if i run in browser its not working, here is the code for php
Code: <?php error_reporting(E-ALL); if (function_exists(shell_exec)) {
Tried "publish file" in ubuntu one (web interface) to show a file to a friead, it worked great, then i selected stop publishing file, and according to ubuntu one it was not published any more. But my friend can still download the file from the url given, and so can I. Then I tried publishing it again via nautilus, it gave me the same URL, and stop publishing via nautilus, and the URL still works. Now I have the feeling that maybe all files in ubuntu one is accessible to the world by guessing the right URL. How can I know for sure? At least this one file now is world accessible even though ubuntu one says it isn't.
Found one bug in launchpad, which is closed because it supposedly works. Anyone else tried unpublishing files? [URL]
I have a backup sh file that I have been using for a long time. It has always worked. 2 Days back I switched to a different pc and now suddenly the script don't work.If I run it manually in the terminal it works. But when it execute with cron it doesn't copy any files to the backup destination. It starts but doesn't copy anything. Can someone help me as to why it works manually but not with cron ?
I found some code and tuts that tell me how to create a playlist, and I followed it to the letter but it doesnt work...I'm guessing it has somethin to do with my configuration settings with apache, otherwise here's the code:
How does network file sharing work in Ubuntu? Is it only enabled for the Public folder? Or does it vary by folder permission settings, specifically in that folder's 'Properties' and allow others access the folders?
I'm asking because someone at my work may have had a complete breach of their personal files in the /home/ directory from their folder permission settings. I want to know if regardless of everyone having access permission to the folder, if they need to drag it to the Public folder for it to be network shared.
When I first got Ubuntu a few weeks ago, and got the older version of Wine from the Software Center, and it could run pretty much any game I wanted. Albeit really slowly. Well, I upgraded to 1.2 using the instructions on the wine website, and now a couple of my low-power games (like Bootfighter Windom XP) run totally perfectly, but a lot of mainstream games like Mirror's Edge and Mass Effect 2 just crash when I attempt to open them, and all they all have the same message where the main .exe file has "encountered a serious error." Here's what the terminal gives me:
Code: Backtrace: =>0 0x68286bbe in libc.so.6 (+0x110bbe) (0x033bd9c0) 1 0x693815a1 in winhttp (+0x115a0) (0x033bea20) 2 0x69381aa1 WinHttpQueryDataAvailable+0x60() in winhttp (0x033bea70) 0x68286bbe: fmull 0x488bdc4a(%ecx) .....
I now find the icon for File Manager doesn't do anything! Well it bounces to indicate that it's working but the File Manager/Browser does not come up!Does anyone know of a solution to this
Ok Ive tried soooo many tutorials and been through sooo many forums but I cant get my file sharing to work from any computer. Ive got a - Ubuntu 10.04(64bit) desktop to use as a home web/file server, wired.(BEN-SERVER)- Vista(32bit) laptop, wireless.(BEN-LAPTOP)- Windows 7(64bit) desktop, wireless.(BEN-LAVIE)- EchoLife HG520s ADSL2 wireless modem.
At the moment...In Ubuntu network browswer it only displays BEN-LAPTOP.But trying to browse BEN-LAPTOP I get "Unable to mount location Failed to retrieve share list from server".Vista only displays BEN-LAVIE and browsing gives me "Windows cannot access \BEN-LAVIE"And Windows 7 doesn't display any.Previously I was able to share between Windows 7 and Ubuntu but I don't know what I did but it stopped working. I have since reinstalled Ubuntu and tried again from scratch but no luck
I am slowly rebuilding my network after a HDD crash that took out my primary development box. I installed Lucid Lynx and have things (mostly) working. The issue I am having has to do with file completion and history. I could set filec in my .cshrc file and it would work as it usually does (hit <TAB? key after typing in a couple of letters of a file name and BOOM the file auto-completes). For some reason, when I do the same thing, I get a literal TAB entered on the line. Also, if I attmept to utilize history (either the up-arrow from the keyboard I see ^[ instead of the last executed command(s).
I'm trying to get a Xerox 4150 printer added to Ubuntu 10.04 and having troubles. I downloaded a wad of printer PPD files and it has worked on all but this Xerox 4150 printer. When I provide it with Xerox's ppd file, I get the following error...
Failed to read PPD file. Possible reason follows: /somepath/xr_WorkCentre4150.ppd: FAIL **FAIL** Unable to open PPD file - Missing option keyword on line 30.
Has anybody had luck with either installing this ppd file or some workaround to get the Xerox 4150 installed?
Though I have to deal with a lot of new issues with respect to 11.04, I have a specific problem that I need to solve quickly. When I try to print to a pdf-file from a ps-file using Document Viewer, it appears a box that says:
I switched to Ubuntu about a month ago and have been loving every bit of it so far Today, I decided it was time to switch from having ubuntu installed within windows (through wubi) into creating a separate partition for itself.
I tried UN-installing using the wubi-uninstaller file but that did not work. Tried removing from the Add/Remove box in Windows 7 but neither wubi nor ubuntu were listed. SO I ended up manually deleting ubuntu from the C: and then using EasyBCD to remove Ubuntu from the boot menu. It may all sound great but I noticed that my hard disk is missing around 25GB of space. I even re-installed windows 7 but that hasn't changed this. It may well be that my hard disk is just old (~2 years) but I think it maybe because of an incorrect UN-install of wubi. Having read through forum posts around the interwebs all evening, this seems to be a problem that a few people share.
ps: I intend on installing Ubuntu again once this hard disk issue is resolved!
Well, this is a problem that keeps on coming, and I never found a solution: Maybe it is just me misunderstanding how it should work, but:
1) do you confirm that, as a member of the group "fuse", I should be able to read the file? 2) of course, I could change the permission of the file, or read it as sudo, but sometimes this is not possible. how to achieve it then?
I set up an Ubuntu server install yesterday. I have used Ubuntu desktop for quite some time and have no issue with command line. I have everything working, except SMB shares. The share still works if I enter it's path manually (//server/share) but even shares I want to be viewable by browsing are not. (Attempted to browse in Nautilus, Windows and Mac file managers.) Server is running 10.10 (AMD64). Dump of smb.conf (generated with SWAT, which also works otherwise) follows. Solution with either SWAT or editing the file manually is fine.
I'm about to start a long research project and I think that being able to tag my files will make my life a lot easier. Basically, just as blogs tag posts with certain tags, I would like to tag documents with certain tags (ie. #secondary #2011 etc) and then search for documents by tag instead of trying to find them in folders.
I'm trying to understand how file/io access works.
If I have this:
Filesystem Mounted on /dev/sda1 / /dev/sdc5 /backup /dev/sdb1 /database
And I access a file in /database, does the system access the disk containing /database directly, or does it go to /dev/sda1 disk for access to /, then finds a pointer to /dev/sdb1 for /database and then moves on to the correct disk?
I have install fedora 14. since i am beginner to linux environment . i cannot open a mp4 file through Movie player . it show a error . with a dialog box " Movie player require additional plugin to decode this file, the following plugin require: MPEG-4 AAC decoder,H.264 decoder". although after click on search button i won't get the solution...
I have a situation in an office where a LAN will be installed - what I want to know is, after that, can 2 people open the same spreadsheet file, i.e. the person on the computer that it's on, as well as somebody across the LAN?
we have two work computers, one with windows and one with Ubuntu. We are going to change the windows computer to Ubuntu, and put them on a network. So we copied all of the documents on the windows computer to the Ubuntu computer as a first step. The problem is, with the documents and folders that we copied, if they have spanish accents we can't open them.I tried looking on the forum but I didn't find anything about exactly that problem. One post suggested that the "locale" might be the problem, but our locale seems to be the correct one for our country and language.
The accents show up as white question marks inside a black diamond. If I open a file inside a folder with an accent, or a file with an accent, it tells me that the file doesn't exist. But when I change the name of the containing folder or the file, and replace the question marks with accents, I can open the folders and files. But we have lots and lots of documents, and it would take a really long time to change the name of all of the folders and files. How can I fix all of them at the same time?
I have downloaded conky but cant make it work. I have so far installed from terminal. But I do not see it in my desktop. Where do I create the rc file?
When using firefox to open a file attachment in web mail the update configuration runs but next time the same box appears to select which program to use , in firefox preferences / applications there is no way to add a new file association for a new filetype eg .doc or .xls ....! I tried switching off suse integration with firefox but it made no difference .if anyone has a fix for for this i can save myself a lot of time .
Firefox version 3.5.9 open suse 11.2 AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor Speed: 2,800.00 MHz1.8 GiB Free memory: 788.6 MiB (+ 605.2 MiB Caches) Free swap: 2.0 GiB
If I go to system - preferences - personal file sharing, I cannot select "share files over the network." The panel is greyed out and the message "This feature cannot be enabled because the required packages are not installed on your computer" is shown
It ever so usefully doesn't tell me what those packages are though! - It'd be nice to have more useful error messages or the ability to click to install them...
Anyway, what do I have to do to get this going again?! I've installed everything to do with samba, webdav that I can find but still no cigar...
