View 4 RepliesI have a Haupagge WinTV 1300MCE capture card, what is the best program to use for viewing Television and recording in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS or what programs are common with this card, best used.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave a television card on the computer. Works perfectly well and it would be nice to use the computer as a television program recorder. Buggering about with a DVD recorder is a lot of trouble. How is it possible to do this - surely pretty basic - job? Buggered if I know. It is important to compress the thing into *.avi format or something like that. Otherwise it takes up a huge amount of space.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to say that miro is the best internet tv viewer i've ever used, hands down. But, ever since my upgrade to karmic, and then lucid, the videos i try to watch on miro lag a LOT.
So, is there anything out there that would make a good replacement? Or, better yet, is there a way that i can fix miro?
I'm still learning my way around Ubuntu Linux. I tried "yum" and got this:

Is there a way I can install a windows program to webspace and run it from a linux client computer? To specify, I'm a student at the University of Minnesota. I have access to linux machines running Ubuntu, however, the space allocated to us is too small for the program I would like to run on these computers. I do have webspace I can use though. The thing I'd like to be running on the linux computers is a windows application requiring installation. So is there a way to put/install/(whatever else it might be called) this program onto my webspace and be able to run it from the linux computers? I know it's probably unlikely, but maybe?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm seeking recommendations for sharing photos and albums online, via Apache.
I once used a very good piece of software, written in PHP, which integrated very nicely with Apache, but I forgot its name completely; I though it was Stacy, but I couldn't find it.
I am outstation and having laptop with windows and internet connection. I want to check one small program on linux. kindly tell if some free linux server is available on internet where I can upload my program, compile and execute. The program is generic and there is no restrictions regarding linux version.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi just recently installed an nVidia GeForce 6200 (AGP 256mb) and it worked great out-of-the-box for the computer. i've been trying to hook up a tv as a second monitor and don't seem to be having much luck. i followed a few HowTo's and some threads but nothing seemed to help - here's the configuration i'm using an s-video cable out to an A/V RF Mod box and an RF co-ax from the RF Mod to the TV (I tested the RF Mod and it works).

I have a MacBookPro5,1 laptop, and I have installed the 64-bit version of Fedora 12 on it, in addition to the Mac OS X operating system. When I'm running Mac OS X, I can connect my 720p Samsung television to the computer through its mini DVI port and the computer will go into a mode that will display on the television.
However, when I'm running Fedora and connect the television nothing happens. What can be done to allow the laptop to display on the television when it is using Fedora?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI searched and found threads recommending mozilla-mplayer plugin in the synaptic packet thingymejig. Couldn't find it there myself and although I found a mplayer plugin in the other Ubuntu software library installation program, it didn't allow me to install it (there wasn't an install button!).
So is there a recommended way of getting Firefox to show mms streams?
I installed my DVB-T board and I can watch TV using VLC and my channels.conf file. I saved a copy of channels.conf as ~/.gstreamer-0.10/dvb-channels.conf but when I start Totem (GStreamer ed.), I don't see a "Watch TV" option under the "Movie" menu.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a series of system usability bash scripts that I sync with dropbox (and share with other friends that I have set ubuntu up on) and then have those folders sym linked to ~/bin. The problem is, when I change something on one computer, the scripts lose executability on other computers. First, I guess I will ask, is there a way to stop this from happening?
Failing that, is there a way that I can have Dropbox's events monitored so that when something is updated, it runs a script on my Script folder adding 'chmod +x' to all the bash scripts. This is the simple nautilus-script that I am currently using to easily batch change the modes:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
#token: nautilus-script
for FILE in *
do
chmod +x "$FILE"
Rather than adding each music/video file one by one in XBMC is there a way to just add a folder to watch and as you add music under it, it automatically shows up in XMBC? If not, is there any application that allows something like that? I'm looking for one central application to use for all media playback - dvds, music, videos, pictures... XBMC seemed like the right choice, but I'll be adding moves and music for a year if I had to do each of them 1 by 1.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDVD rentals are a lottery for me. I often have the problem of renting DVD's that end up being scratched. I'm sure this is a common experience: during playback there will be a section of the DVD that is unplayable because it skips or stutters.
I always clean the DVD surface but it often doesn't help when the scratches are bad. So I wonder whether there are any hardware tweaks in Ubuntu to help the DVD drive try harder?
I found this post "Guide to dvd copy and watch even when scratched" which seems useful but it requires ripping the DVD.
it seems i have to update to a new flash version? i cannot watch any videos any more. i installed the flash-aid add-on in firefox. under "removal options" i see nothing until i select "expert mode". i have attached a screenshot. what do i need to select there and what are the next steps? i just upgraded to firefox 4.0, on kubuntu10.10.
