Using View>Message Source I see a large solid block of random upper and lower case characters, whereas I would expect to see some readable text mixed in. The email subject and the attachment name both contain data specific to me, but the text of the email consists largely of disclaimers with no mention of my name or any clue as to the nature of the attachment. I am using Thunderbird as my email client.

Sep 11, 2015I've found a serious bug in KMail 4.14.1 (Debian 8): When you delete an attachment from an HTML message, all other content of that message (i.e. the whole body part) will be destroyed.
How to reproduce:
Create an HTML ("Rich Text") e-mail message and save it as draft (or send it if you like)
Mark your saved (or sent) message, right klick on the attachment and choose "Delete Attachment"
The content of the body will be replaced with text like this:Code: Select all. You deleted an attachment from this message. The original MIME headers for the attachment were:
Content-Type: application/pdf
name="test.pdf"
filename="test.pdf"
This problem is specific to HTML (Rich Text) messages. It doesn't apply to plain text messages.
General :: Send Email With Attachment By Postfix From Command-line?
Dec 11, 2010I've just setup a new Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server on linode for myself. Followed an excellent instruction at: here to finish the installation of some basic stuff including postfix.
I am trying to figure out a way to send an email to my gmail address with an attachment, but cannot find how. Already confirmed that email can reach my gmail account.
In the end I have to use mutt to send the email with attachments, probably SendEmails will also do well, but I am wondering how to do the same thing in postfix from command-line?

Jun 22, 2009...it only gives the option to Save the file. I don't want to save it. I get a PDF file nightly, which contains the next day's work orders for my job.I'd like to just open the file. It's always attached to an email and opened using Yahoo mail.As it stands right now, I must always save it to the Desktop, then delete the previous day's file. Any idea how to change this? I've set the option to "Always Ask" in Edit --> Preferences --> Applications --> PDF Document.What else can I do? I seem to recall a fix where you'd delete a file containing all the preferences. I'd prefer not to do that, as I have them all set the way I want.Plus...and this is weird...it'll occasionally ask me to choose between opening the file or saving it

Oct 22, 2010I'm running a blog on posterous. Some friends of me post messages there via mail, mostly with some PDF attachments. These PDFs are generated mostly on a MAC with Word. The standard extension of these files is foobar.doc.pdf. Unfortunately, Posterous ignores attachments with the extension .doc.pdf.
So, I'm looking for some workaround. For example, I could my web server with some script, which receives these mails, converts the filenames of the attachment in some way and posts the result to my posterous blog. Therefore I'm looking for some mail processing scripts, which enable me to do so.
Software :: Fax .g3 File Unreadable / Unable To Upload The .g3 File As It Is An "invalid Attachment"?
Feb 6, 2011I have been trying to get my message modem to read .g3 files under ubuntu (now 10.04) for over a year now, and have tried absolutely every application I can find to no avail.The output is always garbage.Every application tried gives the same result, but the fax is perfect on Windows, but I don't have a Windows machine any more.
I am unable to upload the .g3 file as it is an "invalid attachment" but have saved it to url.I have (hopefully) attached the resultant output from gimp, which is exactly the same with tkusr and efax. The fax is the weekly Debt collection agency touting for business (no, I don't owe them any money - yet)
I believe they all use a common file, something like g3topbm or g3topdf.If I try g2topbm on the command line: every second line has an error e.g: g3topbm: bad code word at row 202, col 5 (len 14 code 0x32), skipping to EOL
The .g3 files are created by a USR message modem which stores the files for later download ('cos the computer gets switched off at night.)

Sep 21, 2010I'm at a complete loss on this one.MY version of Firefox 3.6.10 (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS) opens all email attachments with no problem. However, my sister's machine--same 3.6.10 and 10.04 LTS--does not. Instead, she gets the following message: "(PDF or JPEG) could not be opened because the associated helper application does not exist. Change the association in your preferences."I've checked all her preference settings against mine, and they match...but mine works and hers does not. (Also verified that "Document Viewer" and "Image Viewer" are installed properly...)

For example I searched to see if this error message came up before in the forums and I didn't see anything. So maybe I didn't do it correctly? How do I edit a post after I've already submitted it?

In a terminal I ran chmod +x PenumbraOvertureDemo-2553.sh and then sudo ./PenumbraOvertureDemo-2553.sh and I get an error "./PenumbraOvertureDemo-2553.sh: 2: Syntax error: "(" unexpected" . The quotation marks are my own. Is the file corrupted? One of my lugmates thinks it might be a shar file, but Karmic says that it is a shell script. Another friend says that it is too large to be a shell script. Here is the code:
