I would like to make a short cut to a webpage just like on my iPhone but I would also like to make a custom icon for it too and if possible different properties..
I want the shot cut to go also open in full screen mode as it'll be a direct link to a game I play but at the same time I don't want firefox to be in full screen by default. Is this possible to do?
I am using FC12 to view television shows I miss with the Adobe Flash plugin in both Google Chrome and Firefox. Certain network pages will work with Chrome but not Firefox and vice versa. For simplicity, I would like to create shortcut / links to the different show websites we watch, but I don't know how to direct one link to use Chrome and another to use Firefox. Is this even possible (I haven't explored it much myself)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI got this Dell Studio and the f keys are kind of odd.. first of all you have to press fn to even use them.. because theyve defaulted them to be things like: fast forward.. mute.. stuff like that.. and what makes it worse is f2 is a button that disables wifi.. so when i do alt-f2 out of habit it cuts my wifi off.. so i have to do fn-alt-f2 which just gets old.. my question is, what is the raw command for the RUN ? I'd like to assign a keyboard shortcut to it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to make a panel on the right side of the screen that can be hidden/shown by pressing a shortcut on the top panel. I can probably figure out the hide/show script without a problem, but what I can't seem to figure out is how to keep this panel on the far right side of the screen without it stopping my windows from stretching that far. If I drag it away from one of the sides of the screen, it behaves like a window and I can stretch my windows as far as I want. Is there some way to make it behave like a window, while still staying at the far right? I don't want to use auto-hide, because not only will it pop up when I don't want it to, but it will make it more difficult to use with the touch screen.

"The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. * This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies."
I can change users and access the web page or change computers. No other websites were affected. Is there a way in Ubuntu or Gnome to unblock a website to accept cookies?
I would like to know if there's a way of using FileZilla or another FTP client without having a web page. My intention is to have my files on a server and download them form time to time from different computers using FileZilla's portable version. It would also serve as a Back-up copy of 'em. It takes a long time for firefox to actually find every website I go to. It sticks on looking for [URL] and then eventually finds it. It isn't the connection because I tested it and its fine. I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and firefox 3.6.3

I have recently put together a website for my local club using Kompozer, Filezilla, and other open-source apps:

Very simple; no CSS or frames, just tables. My question is this: How do I get the webpage to appear uniform on all displays? When I work on it on my own machine all is looking good, everything nice. But when I go to the club and check on one of their boxes or use a computer somewhere else, things are bent out of shape; the layout is too wide or thin, things are oversized or not, the main heading is on two lines instead of one. A real dog's breakfast.
I learn as I go but one thing I'm figuring is that I should scale my images in Gimp to the desired size rather than drag them to size in Kompozer.
I have looked for an answer to this, tried a few things adding various code to the page, but nothing so far seems to be working. I'm sure this is simple fix but I just haven't stumbled over it yet.
I recently saved a large number of web pages from a website on my computer and all of them contains images. I needed help extracting all the images from the webpages(all of them) there are about 17000 saved webpages in the folder and all of them have images. I am not sure how to extract images from webpage in batch. google search dint turn up anything.. is there lika a tool or something for the job or should a script be written for it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to the new ubuntu 11.04 but am having problems with the internet. Often When I try to access a website it takes a long time (5-10 minutes) to load even google, and sometimes I just get the following error message:
This web page is not available. The server at google.com can't be found because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the web service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Chromium from accessing the network.
Here are some suggestions:
- Reload this web page later.
- Check your Internet connection. Reboot any routers, modems or other network devices that you may be using.
- Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means.
- Try disabling DNS prefetching by following these steps: Go to Spanner menu > Preferences > Under the Bonnet and deselect "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance".
- Try adding Chromium as a permitted programme in your firewall or antivirus software's settings. - If it is already a permitted programme, try deleting it from the list of permitted programmes and adding it again.

I have tried to access the internet using Chrome, Firefox, Konqueror, on the Untiy Desktop, and the Classic Desktop. I've checked my Proxy settings in Chrome (My main browser) and its set to direct internet connection. I've Disabled the UFW. I've edited the resolv.conf which initially showed:

To avoid any accidents I have the apache alias set to www.example.dev instead of www.example.com. The URL will redirect no problem but I need to find a way to have every instance of a link (example.com) show up as (example.dev) so that whole site will function on the server without linking to the live external site. I'm using git as a version control system that will push certain commits to my live site and thus want to avoid changing any configuration files to get this desired effect on my virtual machine. How to do this server side, maybe via PHP, apache2.
