General :: Create An External SSL Wrapper/tunnel Page For An Insecure Webpage Behind A Firewall?

Mar 14, 2011

I have an security cam with a built-in webpage inside my home network. That camera is using basic HTTP authentication instead of SSL. I want to be able to access the camera's webpage from outside my network, but I don't want to open an unencrypted video stream to the outside world. Right now, I'm doing some cumbersome ssh tunneling where I bounce off an ssh server like: ssh -N -L 9090:[URl]..and then I connect to my web page like: http://localhost:9090

But this is a pain. Now, gentle reader, I beseech you to tell me how I can use linux (Ubuntu) to get a fully encrypted SSL connection to my internal web page without the hassle of creating an ssh tunnel each time. I believe I can use stunnel, but I'm not sure of the command.

Maybe this isn't the right place, BUT: How can I create an OO Writer template with about 20 input Text Areas? I can make one, and then I thought I could use COPY and PASTE to dupe it in the other places, but it didn't work. I hate to spend all that time creating the other 19 identical boxes.

And from page 61-100, The header should read as "Good bye header" and footer to read as "Good bye footer"? Is this possible? Or is there any software available to make this happen?

Fedora :: Create A Recipe Cookbook In OpenOffice 3.3?

Dec 9, 2010

HOWTO: Create a Recipe Cookbook in OpenOffice 3.3 This HOWTO: will guide you through the process creating a Recipe Cookbook in OpenOffice 3.3.

PREWORK: Before staring to type in all your favorite recipes, and formatting each section of text, there are a few decisions that will affect your layout. They are:

1. Paper Size: 8.5" x 11", 8.5" x 14", or 11" x 17"
2. Binding: 3 Ring or Spiral
3. Columns per Sheet of Paper: 2, 3, or 4

[code]....

I chose 8.5" x 11", 3 Ring, 2 Columns, TimesNewRoman, Portrait, and Double Sided. These choices specify two recipe pages on each side of a sheet of paper, making a total of four recipe pages printed in some specific order on one sheet of paper to create a Recipe Booklet. I prefer a 3 Ring Cookbook to the Spiral Bound versions as the 3 Ring version pages don't get mangled. The separator line down the center of the layout may be used for manual cutting the sheets when you are finished printing. Your decisions may vary from mine, making your layout different depending on your test printing results.

LAYOUT THE COLUMNS:

Formatting a Single Sheet of Paper in OpenOffice 3.3:

FORMAT -> PAGE -> 2 COLUMNS

SPACING 1.30" with a Separator Line of NONE (This is because my Brother HL-2140 doesn't print them equal side to side) This will give you an area for each page (Left & Right) on each side of the Sheet of Paper. It is within this area that your text will be formatted according to your planned layout. Use recipe1.png & recipe2.png below to assist you in laying out your design. Once your 8.5" x 11" sheet has the proper layout save the file.

ADD/DELETE PAGES: Open your layout and keep the "enter key" depressed to create the needed pages. Likewise move your cursor to the last row in the last column of the last sheet and keep the "delete key" depressed to remove the extra pages. Save your file.

CALCULATING PAGE LAYOUT ORDER:

Since each Sheet of Paper may contain 4 printed pages, the total number of pages CREATED in OpenOffice 3.3 needs to be a multiple of FOUR. For example, I typed in 104 pages in OpenOffice 3.3 and this will create 26 ODD Pages and 26 EVEN Pages. For my Recipe Book the page order was:

ODD

104,1,102,3,100,5,98,7,96,9,94,11,92,13,90,15,88,1 7,86,19,84,21,82,23,80,25,78,27,76,29,74,31,72,33, 70,35,68,37,66,39,64,41,62,43,60,45,58,47,56,49,54 ,51

EVEN

2,103,4,101,6,99,8,97,10,95,12,93,14,91,16,89,18,8 7,20,85,22,83,24,81,26,79,28,77,30,75,32,73,34,71, 36,69,38,67,40,65,42,63,44,61,46,59,48,57,50,55,52 ,53

Running OpenOffice from the terminal, the error that it outputs is "Failed to Create XIC".If I just access the same commands using the mouse such as Clicking "Save As", "Open", or any other command that opens a KDE FileDialog OpenOffice does not crash. The error is very similar to that of "http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/wmeLD7sxJO78TtWLhIm8".OpenOffice 3.2.1scim 1.4.7-174.1KDE 4.4.4openSUSE 11.3 64-bit

OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.

Ubuntu :: Make Webpage Look Same On All Displays

Sep 30, 2010

I have recently put together a website for my local club using Kompozer, Filezilla, and other open-source apps:

[URL]

Very simple; no CSS or frames, just tables. My question is this: How do I get the webpage to appear uniform on all displays? When I work on it on my own machine all is looking good, everything nice. But when I go to the club and check on one of their boxes or use a computer somewhere else, things are bent out of shape; the layout is too wide or thin, things are oversized or not, the main heading is on two lines instead of one. A real dog's breakfast.

I learn as I go but one thing I'm figuring is that I should scale my images in Gimp to the desired size rather than drag them to size in Kompozer.

I have looked for an answer to this, tried a few things adding various code to the page, but nothing so far seems to be working. I'm sure this is simple fix but I just haven't stumbled over it yet.

Ubuntu Networking :: 11.04 - DNS Errors / Webpage Not Available

May 12, 2011

I have recently upgraded to the new ubuntu 11.04 but am having problems with the internet. Often When I try to access a website it takes a long time (5-10 minutes) to load even google, and sometimes I just get the following error message:
This web page is not available. The server at google.com can't be found because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the web service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Chromium from accessing the network.

Here are some suggestions:
- Reload this web page later.
- Check your Internet connection. Reboot any routers, modems or other network devices that you may be using.
- Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means.
- Try disabling DNS prefetching by following these steps: Go to Spanner menu > Preferences > Under the Bonnet and deselect "Use DNS pre-fetching to improve page load performance".
- Try adding Chromium as a permitted programme in your firewall or antivirus software's settings. - If it is already a permitted programme, try deleting it from the list of permitted programmes and adding it again.
- If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or check with your network administrator to make sure that the proxy server is working.
- If you don't believe that you should be using a proxy server, try the following steps: Go to Spanner menu > Options > Under the Hood > Change proxy settings and make sure that your configuration is set to "no proxy" or "direct".
Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.

I have tried to access the internet using Chrome, Firefox, Konqueror, on the Untiy Desktop, and the Classic Desktop. I've checked my Proxy settings in Chrome (My main browser) and its set to direct internet connection. I've Disabled the UFW. I've edited the resolv.conf which initially showed:

Code:
# Generated by NetworkManager
domain HG532.com
search HG532.com
nameserver 10.0.0.1
and edited it to:

Code:
# Generated by NetworkManager
domain 10.0.0.1
search 10.0.0.1
nameserver 10.0.0.1
and even tried the Google DNS server:

Code:
# Generated by NetworkManager
domain 8.8.8.8
search 8.8.8.8
nameserver 10.0.0.1

But nothing works. It seems like When I initially log on to the internet it runs fine, but over the coarse of 10 minutes the page loading times go down then eventually I just get the above error message. There are other computers here running windows which connect through the same wireless fine.

Ubuntu :: Can't Embed Video On Webpage

Jul 22, 2011

I'm trying to embed a video on my website, and It keeps asking me if I want to save it, instead of just playing it. How do I embed to play and not pop-up the "save" dialog?

Today I demonstrated a simple SSH dictionary attack for a friend. Lucky for you - I also recorded it. (I've made my pw ridiculous and re-secured the box so don't even try it now lol - it'll take 100's of years to crack brute-force).

Anyways, here's what you'll need:<ol><li><a href="http://nmap.org/" target="_blank">NMap</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.foofus.net/~jmk/medusa/medusa.html"

[Code]....

That's what I have. It shows the box where the video should be - but doesn't play it, just asks to save. Not sure if it's something with my browser plugins... or my code on my page... ? Tried with FireFox and Rekonq - same results. Tried with many different embed codes as well - all same results.
