Ubuntu :: Install A Curl Library For Platform In Order To Run Game Server
Dec 3, 2010
Im new to Linux, so wanted to ask something.I need to install a Curl Library for my Platform in order to run my Game Server. But how do i install it ??Already found the files: [URL]..I have Linux Ubuntu Lucid (10.04)
i've installed 'ghost recon' which i downloaded via torrent. i open the executables with right-click and clicking executable, i guess this just used WINE automatically. it seems to download fine. i downloaded into a folder i called 'c:desktop' which i thought would make the files end up on my regular desktop, but i can't find them anywhere. when i run autorun.exe from the cd it opens, but when i click 'play ghost recon' is gives a dialog box saying it can locate the cd.
I'm running Slack 13.1 64 bit. I'd like to try running multi for 32 bit support so I can run a 32 bit version of firefox using the 32 bit flash plugin. Here's what I did: - followed Alien Bob's Wiki and download and installed all the *txz files. - installed a bunch of required libraries following the instructions on the Wiki - installed the 32 bit 10.1 version of the flash player plugin in $HOME/.mozilla/plugins/ - started the 32 bit 3.6.3 version of firefox; it seems to work fine. - go to about plugins and verify that Shockwave Flash (libflashplayer.so) is version 10.1 r53 and it is enabled. - run "ldd libflashplayer.so" and verified that all libraries are found. - run "ldd /usr/lib/firefox-3.6.3/firefox-bin" and verified all libraries are found. - go to [URL]... and click on "test your adobe flash player installation" I will get this error: Adobe Flash Player error: could not load cURL library - I verified (repeatedly) that I do have what I think is the correct package. How can I fix (or start debugging) this error?
Is there any equivalent of WaitFOrMultipleObjects on Linux?
I was finding a cross Platform library that allow you to run another program from your C++ application. I found POCO but it does not support functionality like WaitFOrMultipleObjects for both (linux and windows). I tried boost Process but its not official till now.
Is there any curl API to configure only the required protocol. If I have proper openssl installed, the installed curl will have all the protocols (like HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, File etc...) supported by default. Is there any way to allow or disallow only some of the protocol at the runtime. Say I need to support only HTTPS, FILE and I dont want to allow HTTP. Is there any way to do this?
I have a non gui server. I just tryed SSH -X and i didnt have to install any graphical library in the server, which is my goal, but except in the lan, its too slow. Im about to install the other ones, but i ask before:
Can i install them if my server doesnt have GUI? If the answer is NO, then, is SSH -X the only way to go?
I am installed cUrl from http://packages.ubuntu.com/lucid/amd64/curl/download for my ubuntu 9.0 with php 5.2 ,Apache 2.0.It was installed by gkebi package installer. but when i display phpinfo() curl not found since i was attempt to use phptwitter class. what is the proble i have? I'm trying to install the latest NVIDIA drivers (not the ones provided by the 'Additional drivers' application). In order to install them, I need to exit the X-server and terminate all OpenGL processes. How do I do that? I've seen many things like 'press ctrl-alt-backspace' and typing 'sudo /etc/init.d/gdm stop' but none of them work. I'm using Kubuntu 10.10 and gdm doesn't even exist.
i recently installed apache2 mysql php exc. to run a realtime stat site for my servers.the only thing is that the buttons/ images are not showing up.i checked that my GD was up to date and installed perl5 GD. dont know what else to check.my site with problems go to:http://24.20.177.228/stats_public
This game is Java based. After rebooting the game works, but on ending the game several notification boxes remain. If these boxes are not closed in the reverse order that the game opened them, it is no longer possible to close them. Only by killing the Java processes can these notifications be made to close. Also after playing the game, even if all these notifications are closed it is many times necessary to kill the Java process(es) in order to get the game to load again at a later time. I am currently using Slackware 1.30, but a similar problem has existed in several of the past releases.
I already have php5 installed but when I try to install php5-curl to use magento I get this message,The following packages have unmet dependencies: php5-curl : Depends: php5-common (= 5.3.3-1ubuntu9) but 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1 is to be installed E: Broken packages. Is there anyway around this? I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 desktop.
we got godaddy VPS working and however.the strange thing is that we don't have CURL installed by default.we should get it with the server itself. but we didn't we have root ssh access. i saw this post: [URL] but it didn't worked for me.

Do you know any game engines or game studios that can make adventure games, for instance in the style of Myst (1st person) or in the style of old Sierra games (3rd person), like King's Quest, Space Quest, etc.?I've seen AGI Studio, but it is too old, I'd like to use more modern graphics (although there is no need for 3D).
My main focus is not with Linux operating systems but I have run Ubuntu and Centos servers at home. I like Ubuntu, but when I talk to guys at work they poo poo it. They say no one runs Unbuntu server and that it's an unstable platform. (I don't think that they have first hand experience, but what they have heard). Red Hat is their preferance.
So my questions are: Is Ubuntu server used in many enviroments? Does anyone know of some major environments that uses Ubuntu?
My Computer options arent great, but i am going to be starting the process of switching all the computers in my house to linux, i wanted to see if i could make a server to connect all of them for file sharing, but mostly for world of warcraft in the house.it would only be 10 computers accessing it at once. i would basically want to know what the best form of linux would be, the programs id need to have, if it could be done on a desktop based machine, or if id have to use my server. if i would need different hardware or if the linksys hardwired router going to be enough connection. i guess the filesharing would be more the pressing need, especially if it is possible to create a server and convert the connected computers to linux through use of the server
I'm trying to send files from a Unix server using http/curl to a Linux webserver running Apache. I get the following PUT error message when and the file does not send:
<title>405 Method Not Allowed</title> </head><body> <h1>Method Not Allowed</h1> <p>The requested method PUT is not allowed for the URL
I am still running Debian Lenny and have found that the curl version 7.18 is just too outdated for my needs, I would rather not do an upgrade just yet to the stable release of squeeze. I was looking for some information on how I could install a newer version of curl and libcurl without breaking my system.
I have tried to install gnome-sell in ubuntu 10.04 but I found that this package can't install it (libgjs0) when I tried to install it this message appeared
PHP Code: libgjs0: Depends: xulrunner-1.9.2 (<=1.9.2.4~) but 1.9.2.16+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.10.04.1 is to be installed
Can anyone tell me where I can find the sun-aclg-1.0.3-1.i386.rpm patch for linux platform ? I need it in order to upgrade the sun Java directory server to 6.3.1 version.
I recently put Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop, and now I have my account set to "Administrator" but it won't let me install a game from a DVD rom, I installed the original game and it's first expansion with no problems, but the account says I don't have permissions to install the second expansion. I am sure it's because it's a DVD rom, but how can I give myself "root" permissions, or set up a root password so I can permit myself to install things?
i would like to run install disks via WINE, but there is a problem. the CD's are by default not executable, and the cd is read only, so when I try to change that I cant.
I really just need to know what stupid thing I'm doing to cause this. I've extracted the files, and when I try to run the setup program, if I click on it from a file browser window in GNOME it just doesn't do anything. If I attempt to run the file (it's a .sh file, if that makes any difference) in the terminal, it says "command not found", even though I'm in the directory, and can clearly see the file when running ls.
If I try to run it in the file browser, and click on "Run in Terminal" then the terminal pops up, and goes away instantly.
I am running a game server on an Ubuntu 11.04 box. The game is Minecraft. The biggest (smallest?) bottleneck for my server is the read/write/access time of data on the hard disk. I feel an SSD could make a huge difference in performance. The Minecraft map is stored in individual region files that are further divided into 'chunks'. Each file is between 64KB and 10MB each (depending on how 'developed' they are). Users are crafting the world and so are constantly loading these files and editing them while playing the game. I'm hoping to have about 15-30 users on at peak times, and 2 or 3 at minimum. The server would be up 24/7.The entirety of the game directory (the map, player data, config file, plugins, etc) is less than 1GB. So I don't need a lot of storage. I will be performing daily backups of the game data to a much larger HDD on the system.Considering this scenario, would you recommend against using an SSD? I've read 'DRAM-based' SSD's do not have write limitations.
I have a plan to deploy a private or public cloud computing. And I've been considering Eucalyptus, OpenNebula, Nimbus, vSphere, abiCloud and Joyent.
I'm very interested in Eucalyptus and OpenNebula, since they are both open source, they have many features, they both support Amazon EC2 and Amazon APIs and they seem to be able to work with different hypervisors, such as KVM, Xen, VMWare ESXi, etc.
Eucalyptus seem to be very supported by Canonical, because it can work with Centos Server, so I bet it will grow more and more, and we have a good experience with Linux and in particular redhat.
On the other hand, many people told me that right now OpenNebula is better. So the question is:
- which one between Eucalyptus and OpenNebula? The other three choices? vSphere is probably free (if we use ESXi and not ESX) but it's not open... abiCloud seems to be similar to Eucalyptus and OpenNebula... about Joyent, many people say very good things, but I want to know more, and then, is it open source? I mean here, can I use it as free ?
After having built the private cloud, we probably want to also use an external service and create an hybrid cloud. If for private cloud we chose OpenNebula,Eucalyptus, abiCloud or Nimbus I guess the best thing is to use Amazon EC2.
- Is it also possible to use VMWare solution?
- And if we chose abiCloud or Joyent, what can we use to create an hybrid cloud?
About Microsoft Azure and Google App Engine, it seems to me they have many limitations and I prevent it because it could be have a highly cost, so I'm not considering them.
I have installed XP on linux xen, when I mount a dvd or cdrom, it would mount on linux not windows! What should I do to mount it on windows? (I installed xp in virtual machine via an image file, so, whenever windows is poped on, the windows xp cd-rom is mounted with that image file), is there any way to mount it from hard?
I'm new with linux. I don't know how to install fonts. In fact I just know how to shut it down. I'm completely new in this, but I want to Know. Step by step. I hope my ignorance don't angry you I'm really excited whit this new OS. win sucks. How can I install new fonts in my new openSuSE 11.2?
I read about a game called kajongg at [URL].I don't see it available in the debian testing repositories, I guess because its part of kde 4.5 which is not yet in use by testing. Is there some way to install this game in debian testing?
I am fairly new to ubuntu server, I want to setup a tftp server to mount a new kernel in a DaVinci platform. I was following the guide in this page [URL]..docs/linux_tftp, but accidentally I remove the xinetd.conf file. So I think that maybe removing and reinstalling xinetd the problem will be solved, but instead of that I can't completely remove xinetd and the follow message is print in the terminal
Removing xinetd ... invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/xinetd not found. dpkg: error processing xinetd (--remove): subprocess installed pre-removal script returned error exit status 100 invoke-rc.d: unknown initscript, /etc/init.d/xinetd not found. dpkg: error while cleaning up: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 100 Errors were encountered while processing: xinetd E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
with that problem I can't start the service or stop it, I am blocked in the configuration of tftp server.
I'm trying to install a third party development package for the TI DM355 platform. The build script for this tests for the mono package which must have been available in a previous release of Ubuntu but has been deprecated in version 10. Which package provides mono support and how can I touch the package database to make it look like mono is installed so the ./configure script will be happy?
