View 3 RepliesFirefox started acting funny. On most video sites, but not all, there wouldbe no sound.Along with this, some of these sites would also have the glitch that videos would play for about 3 seconds, then stop. If I moved the slider to a different point in the video, it would again work for a few seconds, then stop. If I close FF and try to reopen, I get an error message that it is already running, although if I don't leave it openet that message.I then go to the system monitor and shut down the sleeping FF process, and can then restart FF and the problem is fixed for a few hours.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince I installed Lucid, anytime I watch a video in Firefox I can't adjust the volume. I click on the little volume icon, and the volume meter pops up, but it won't let me change it.Also, I can't change to a different point in the video. And finally, it won't go full screen when I click on the fullscreen button.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDownloaded FF4. For my purposes it doesn't seem that much different from FF3. I was able to watch videos on a news website that I hadn't been able to with FF3! On FF3, with the windows theme I have, there is a nice blue tint on the top of the tab, but not on FF4.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Lucid 10.04 from Hardy 8.04, and since then I have no audio when watching You Tube videos in Firefox. I checked the sound preferences and I have sound in other applications, but not for You Tube. Oddly enough, I get sound on You Tube just fine using the Chrome browser, but it's not my preferred browser and I'd really like to get it working under Firefox. In another forum, someone suggested doing a "sudo apt-get install alsamixergui," but that didn't help.Is this some sort of Firefox bug? I googled the problem and others have reported it as such, but I cannot locate a fix. Anyone? Thanks in advance.

i got the weirdest flash player problem on the planet. so, here's what the problem is. whenever i play low quality 360p flash videos in fullscreen in firefox, i get horrible performance and it eats up all the cpu resources, as compared to 1080p fullscreen video, which is smoooooooth and doesn't take up as many resources as low quality videos. why is that? i am using flash 10.2 beta 64 bit and have 64 bit ubuntu, but the problem persisted even on the stock flash player.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI went to mozilla, installed the tar ball package into /opt/, then double clicked on the shell script named firefox inside the /opt/firefox folder.I go to a few sites that stream videos kind of in a way YouTube does as well. So when I go to play the file which is typically in a jwplayer. Firefox thinks I am trying to open to save the file? It attempts to play the video inside dragonplayer, I just want it to run the video. I have also uninstsalled IceWeasel, running KDE shell. x64.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI don't know why but suddenly Firefox has stopped playing any of the Vimeowebsite videos. I am assuming it has to do with some recent software update (no clue which one.)First of all I want to see if anyone else is having this problem. If it's just me then I will have to solve it the local level although I don't have a clue where to start with this one.I would be grateful to anyone who has also seen this to verify that its not just my system getting funky.
View 6 Replies View Relateddid a fresh install of 11.3, running default firefox 3.6.6 with the adobe flash plugin, standard kernel mode setting (kms) video and am getting audio and video play back too fast in sites such as videos. tried setting edit, preferences, applications, flash to "use flash player (default)", does nothing. tried using the nvidia driver, tried updating firefox to 3.6.8, no avail - same thing play back audio and video too fast.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been having this problem when viewing online videos/tv, primarily channel4.com/4od and similar sites.
The videos load up and play with no problems, but if the view is shifted away from the video (e.g. scrolling down the page so the video is no longer visible or switching to another tab or window), after a little while (up to a few minutes) the audio from the video stops and, upon returning to the video window, the video has been replaced with a light grey rectangle. The problem seems to be different from others described here since the videos themselves are running with no problem until the view shifts away from them. Flash-based chat applications have the same problem.
I'm running Firefox 3.6.15 in Ubuntu 10.10 (Maverick). All systems updated repeatedly, as far as I know the problem has existed forever. The issue doesn't seem to exist in Chromium, interestingly (but I prefer Firefox...)
Any suggestions on diagnostics to try to find the cause and solution?
Everything worked fine until yesterday, but now when I open Firefox and I try to load a video, I simply get the black video. It's like it is loading but nothing appear and nothing happens! The page is loaded but the video is not shown
I changed anything, I tried to "reinstall" the .so flash plugin... but no luck :S
I also tried to start firefox from command line to see if there's something wrong but nothing...
It's like the loading time for the flash video is infinite.
I can't ear any sound in '.....' when i watch videos is there anyone. i have the adobe flashplayer installed and i'm using firefox 3.5.3
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems with streaming divx videos in Firefox 3.6 on openSUSE 11.2. Every time I try to load a divx video Firefox ends up freezing, ultimately leading to dialog box giving me the option to terminate Firefox. No matter what plugin I try to use it's the same problem. I've tried mplayerplug-in, which shows a gray background with the Mplayer logo where the video should be but it keeps buffering, once I press play it freezes. I tried the vlc browser plugin which doesn't seem to even recognize anything and I tried gecko-mplayer, which didn't even show the logo and buffering. I tired removing Firefox and all the plugins and tried installing them again to no avail.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAfter installing 10.04 netbook remix on my acer aspire one, I have experienced all sorts of trouble. I can't get online, not with the wireless network, or with a usb-cable directly from the router. When I try to install the hardware drivers i get a message: there are no hardware drivers installed or something like that. There are no other OS on the harddrive, just 10.04 netbook remix. Another problem is the startup. Sometimes it boots right away, other times I've have to restart/reboot. 3-4 times before it works. How comes? Is there any way to download the missing packages/firmware to a usb-stick and then install it on the the netbook?

View 9 Replies View RelatedSince 2 days, when I type the lowercase 'a' letter in a terminal, nothing is written (it's not the case for the uppercase 'A' letter).
The matter appears with all terminal's software (guake, Terminal, xterm...).
The only way for me to type the 'a' letter is to type 'Insert' key before.
I tried many solutions but the matter is still here.
Here, there is some clarifications and some solutions I tried:
-If I copy and paste a text, 'a' don't appears. For example, if i try to copy and paste
'sudo apt-get install'
'sudo pt-get instll' will appears
-The matter appears 2 days ago. Before that, I removed the .gconf file
-It's not a fresh installation of ubuntu but an update from karmic to lucid. When i was under karmic, I was using KDE. Then I did an upgrade, then I tried Xubuntu and Lubuntu and finally I moved to Ubuntu. The first week under Ubuntu (Gnome) was without any matter and 2 days ago, this matter appeared.
-I tried this following command line:
xmodmap -pke >fichier.conf
and the file called "fichier.conf" (I'm french) contains this line:
keycode 24 = a A a A ae AE ae AE
-When I type this line:
printf "x61
"
a 'a' appears in my terminal.
-In tty1 and all the other programs, 'a' appears without any trouble
-I tried with other users in my computer but the matter is still the same no matter wich user I use.
-I tried to change fonts of my environment and I also tried to change fonts only for the terminal but whithout success.
-I tried to change the layout of my keyboard.

Sometime Skype dies, and it is impossible to restart it (only killall -9, and then launching), if im trying quit all skype windows turning gray and thats all. Messages that are sending to others are not sent, and also opponents can't send messages to me. It was OK with same skype version in ubuntu 9.10.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently i'm using a HP 6735b laptop. Everything is fine just one problem which is ATI driver. This one gave me:
1. Impossible to start up Kubuntu, they show welcome screen and stuck for century. LiveCD version of Kubuntu and KDE environment via Ubuntu is fine (since i already installed ATI driver).
2. Without ATI driver, whenever i unplug my A/C power the computer will be frozen. After installed driver everything will be fine.
What kind of problem is that, compatible with ATI or serious bug. Karmic Koala 9.10 is absolutely perfect.
