i dont like microsoft. I refuse to support them or give them market share in any way. I get tired of going to a website just to have microsoft linked in it somehow, such as having a bing map display on the page. Is there a way to configure Privoxy to completely block all microsoft related crap? A list or range of IP's that could be blocked? If so, anyone know where I can get a list of microsoft ip's to block?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have FC-4 with Squid and Dansguardian. Internet Users in my organisation are configured to use proxy with 8080 in browser IE. There's no issue with Users as DG working perfect for them. We have Business Development Team, as they need to do most of the research over internet, their IP's are included into "Exception IP List" in Dansguardian. Obviously these people will be excepted from all banned sites, BD Team able to do chat, play games and do social networking and other stuff over the net, which results in more bandwidth consumption and breaking office policies.
I have tried to implement SQUID ACL's to block few sites like " meebo.com, orkut.com,facebook.com etc" but SQUID acl's not coming into picture. any one who successfully blocked chat, banned sites and social networking in DG with my case.
I want to generate a temporary random list from a directory of files and then determine the size of an arbitrary block of files from this list (say 1-25 or 26-50) and add their names to a file along with some other info for each name. I can generate a random list with file sizes like this: ls -l | sort -R | cut -d " " -f 6 but i'm not sure how to add up the sizes of just a certain block of these files and at the same time save the file names.

All I want is for my bootloader to show "Ubuntu" & "Windows XP" which are the only 2 OS's I have installed (dual booting). At the moment it shows Windows XP, Ubuntu, Ubuntu recovery mode & like 2 more.. which are also Ubuntu & recovery mode. I've never selected the other Ubuntu ones, only the first one. So, how can I remove the ones I don't want to show on the list.

I understand there is a file that stores the repositories' information, but I can't find it!Is there a way I can create a list of what applications have been installed?The idea is that if I am running a backup, finding a way to save the repository list and applications installed so if I am upgrading, or fixing a borked system by re-installing Fedora, I could copy the repo list back, and run the applications list like ode:yum install <cat apps.txt?> and get all of the applications I've installed via Yum without having to remember them all?Is there anything else, outside of /home, I should look at backing up? The problem I am having is that it looks like, even though the machine is now on the AD, and I can browse users in the AD, etc... My network configuration (IP/route tables, etc) are not correct.
For example, my AD server is in the 172 IP range, while BOB is sitting at 10.0.2.15.
The DNS server stores Bob's value as 10.0.2.15, so when I ping it from my workstation at 172, I end up getting no response (obviously it's on a different net).
Bob's route table is configured to deal with 10... range of IP, rather than 172.
I have attempted doing commands such as ifconfig eht0 172.16.1.118 netmask 255.255.255.0 and even editing the route tables, but that then makes outbound network traffic imposable.
I have a dual boot system with Windows 7 and Ubuntu installed on my machine. I use Ubuntu much more often than Windows 7. On Ubuntu I can use LibreOffice Calc, but I'm more used to Microsoft Excel and would like to be able to run it under Ubuntu.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have these two ports open for some reason. netstat says they're attached to 'smbd', but when I look at packages installed and search for smbd the only thing that comes up is samba4 which is NOT installed.
I'm guessing some other package installed this as a dependency. Is there anyway to find out what it was and remove it?
I am a recent switcher, and I was following some other website's post on how to install Microsoft Offcie (im sorry all OO users but I find Office more intuitive). I downloaded the PlayonLinux Windows Emulator (i guess you could call it that) and then tried to install office. Previously, office came preinstalled with my windows machine when i bought it, so I never got a cd but for the installation with PlayonLinux it requests a cd. Does anyone know any workarounds to this? Also, I am not trying to get a keygen or anything illegal, as I have a working copy of MS 07 running on the Vista partition of my laptop.

I plugged my Microsoft VX5000 Lifecam into my Ubuntu 10.10 system and expected it to fire up and work like a charm. Well I had high hopes for the new year but I see it's not going to be easy. I tried to use Skype and Camorama. It just does not see the web cam. When I plug it in, I see the little blue light come on for a second then go off.
